Tips & Tricks for the Grateful Heart Scrapbook Workshop Kit

Our Workshop Your Way kits have been beautifully designed to take the guesswork out of creating a scrapbook page.  This month’s, Grateful Heart WYW Scrapbooking Kit does just that. Each page in this kit has been created with you in mind. With an easy-to-follow workshop guide, gorgeous papers and embellishments, you can create three beautiful layouts, with plenty of supplies leftover, to display your favorite fall memories.

As I was creating each of these layouts, I decided that this month I would give you a few additional tips and tricks that are not included in the workshop guide. Let’s begin with one of my favorite layouts in the kit.

For both of these pages, you will want to make sure you take note of the measurements in the workshop guide. I used a pencil to draw a line where the Fern Stitched Ribbon needed to be on the left page and where the squares needed placed on the right. To make that 5″ x 7″ photo stand out, I used Thin 3D Foam Tape under the photo, then used some 3D Foam Dots for the Leaf Complements and title.  By using both types of Foam Tape/Dots, it gave this layout a nice multi-dimensional look.

You can achieve the same multi-layered look on this second layout. (I really enjoy the softness of these pages with a small accent of copper in those Complements.)

Not only did I use both forms of Foam Tape/Dots on this page, I used our Anti-Static Pouch to remove the “stickiness” from the Floral Complements before adding them. I am also one who enjoys saving as much paper as possible, so I decided that instead of cutting the Floral Paper (2A) into a 5″ x 12″ strip, I cut mine into (2) 1/2″ x 12″ strips and now I have even more of that beautiful Floral paper left over.

This final layout, was so simply designed that I realized, after playing around with mine a bit, these two pages can be altered to fit 4″ x 6″ photos.

Many of you may not have the 4″x 4″ or 3″ x 4″ photos for this layout, and feel that it won’t be one you use. After all, most of us print 4″ x 6″ and may not want to crop them this small.   Here is an example of one way you could alter this layout using just your 4″ x 6″ photos.

As you can seen, this layout was a very simple one to assemble, but elegantly designed. If you chose to use alternate photo sizes, make sure you also alter those decorative paper strips at the base of each photo or use the Fern Stitched Ribbon that comes with your kit.

I hope that you take the time this week to visit my website and see all the products that come with the Grateful Heart WYW Scrapbooking Kit. While you are there, take a minute to view all of the Workshop Your Way kits that Close to My Heart offers.  Each one is designed to help you take the guesswork out of designing your pages, and, as you can see, be altered to fit your personal photos perfectly. I can’t wait to see what you create with these kits!
