School Year Scrapbook Layout

Honestly, I am trying to catch up on my own scrapbooks.  My children are no longer in school, but I am working on recording their memories.  When I saw the School Year stamp of the month, I was excited to use it for this simple, clean layout.  It allowed me to make quick embellishments, have an organized journalling box, and assemble this layout in under 20 minutes.  Since I am so far behind, I will probably copy this layout multiple times using different patterned papers, add a child’s name as the title, and have a page for each of my kids albums completed. BONUS!

SchoolYearLayout.jpg

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ B&T Paper (Striped Peacock), 12″ x 12″ B&T Paper (Letters Peacock), 4″ x 4″ B&T Paper (Striped Pomegranate), 5½” x 7½” B&T Paper (Striped Saffron), 2¼” x 4½” B&T Paper (Striped Pomegranate), (3) 4″ x 6″ Cardstock (Saffron), 4″ x 4″ Cardstock (Saffron)

SchoolYearLayout_DetailOne
Since this layout is so simple to create, instead of instructions, I have included a layout guide for you to follow and a few detailed photos of the embellishments I created using the School Year stamp set.  As always, I have included a list of the products I used at the very bottom of this post.

The “Pencil” images were stamped using Black ink onto White Daisy cardstock, then shaded with Watercolor pencils. You could wrap this with twine, add some enamel gems, or change the colors to match your papers.

SchoolYearLayout_DetailTwo

This journal box image is perfect for recording those “first day” memories.  The image was stamped onto White Daisy cardstock using Black ink, then adhered to Peacock cardstock.  I added a knotted ribbon for an embellishment.  You could change this by adding enamel gems, star cuts, or stick around the edges.

All of my Workshop Guides include layout grids like this one below.  I include measurements, notations, and label the individual cuts to match with the cutting guide.

Don’t forget! The School Year stamp of the month is available through August 30th.  Visit the “Promotions” tab of my website to learn how you can get this stamp set for only $5.00.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

New Annual Inspirations Blog Hop

2017AnnualBadge.jpgWelcome to the New Annual Inspirations Blog Hop where we will be featuring products from our New Annual Inspirations idea book.  If you have come here from Lucy Marino’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog.  This blog hop is designed to allow you to start here and work your way around. It’s simple, fun, and full of ideas.

If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog: http://ifyoublingit.blogspot.com/p/stamp-of-month-blog-hop-list.html.

There are so many amazing new products in our Annual Inspirations that it made it difficult to choose which ones to feature in this blog hop, so I chose just a few of my favorites and created this inspirational wall hanging for my home.

InspirationalWallHanging

  • New Basic Fundamentals – Each year, Close to My Heart creates a new set of beautiful fundamentals papers, and this year they also introduced a New Basics color palette with Basics Fundamentals papers that are absolutely breathtaking. The new basics color palette is one that you will defiantly want to purchase in the inks, cardstock, and papers.
  • Step-by-Step Stamp Sets – Our Thoughtful Bird acrylic stamp set is designed to allow you to layer three different stamps together to create this beautiful detailed bird.  Close to My Heart has created a few of these step-by-step stamp sets that I will be using in my future projects. Watch my blog for more project ideas.
  • Color of the Year – This year’s Bashful can be used in so many projects even when you don’t think “pink” is a color you will use. Bashful is a shade that I will surely be using in my fall and winter scrapbook pages (hint hint).
  • Two-Toned Cardstock – Did you know that all of our Cardstock is now dual toned? One side is the original shade and the back is a shade lighter.  This leads to so many more creative possibilities. I am so excited!!
  • Specialty Papers – The Specialty Papers are my absolute favorite – vellum, gold & silver papers, glitter cardstock, and watercolor paper. We have just about everything to make your projects shine.

As always, I’ve included a list of the products I used to create this project at the very bottom of this post. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about this inspirational wall hanging project or the products used to create it.

School Year Latte Card

Do you remember the excitement of going to purchase school supplies? You roamed the aisles breathing in all the colors and textures. You were so excited to bring it all home, put it in your pack, and take it to school.  As I pull out my New Basics Ink Pads, I am as excited as I was picking out school supplies years ago.  I am breathing in all the delicious colors in the new palette – Espresso, Almond, Toffee and Nutmeg.  These are just a few of the new basics that Close to My Heart has blessed us with this year.

On this week’s School Year stamp of the month project, I choose to use Almond and Nutmeg to create a whimsical card from our Artistry Cricut® cartridge. This card was fun to make and can be given to any teacher friend in your life. You can even add a small gift card as a thank you gift. As always, I have created a list of all the products used at the bottom of this post.

SchoolYearLatteCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 12″x 6″ White Daisy Cardstock, 6″ x 6″ Kraft Cardstock, 4″ x 4″ Almond Cardstock, 6″ x 6″ White Daisy Cardstock, 2″ x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock

Assembly Instructions:
1. To create the card base in Cricut® Design Space, you will use the “Coffee Mug” (#M40FC2A) image from the Artistry cartridge.  Duplicate the image four times. (Each will measure 4.25″ x 5.5″).
2. Rotate two of the images until the inner edges meet, then weld the two images together and cut from White Daisy cardstock to create the card base.
3. Cut the remaining “Coffee Mug” images from White Daisy and Kraft cardstock. Adhere the Kraft “Coffee Mug” onto the front of the card.
4. Trim the White Daisy “Coffee Mug” so just the lid portion remains. Using Almond ink, stamp the “Heart” images across to the middle of the “Lid”,  then adhere to the card.
5. Cut the “Cup Sleeve” from Almond cardstock. If desired, use an embossing folder to create texture. (I used our retired Striped embossing folder.)
6. Before adhering the “Cup Sleeve” to the card, wrap with White Burlap Ribbon creating a small knot on the right side. Adhere the “Cup Sleeve” to the card.
7. Using Nutmeg ink, stamp the “Frame” image onto White Daisy cardstock, then stamp the sentiment onto the center of the frame using Black ink.  Cut out the frame image and adhere to the card using Thin 3D Foam Tape.
8. Add a gift card or sentiment to the card and give it to someone who makes a difference in the lives of children.

The School Year stamp of the month is available until August 30th.

Happy Heart Gift Card

I love that Close to My Heart has a line of masculine papers because I have used the Jack paper pack for many of my projects including this multi-layered thank-you card. Sadly, these papers and their accessories are only available until August 30th, so be sure to purchase them before they retire.

I created this card for the weekly Color My Heart Dare challenge which required the use of Ruby, Slate, Sapphire, Willow, White Daisy, Black with optional Silver. I will admit that the Willow color was a bit of a challenge for me on this card, but I was able to find some twine in my stash that had both Ruby and Willow allowing me to “tie” everything together and create a clean looking card.  As always, I have created a list of the products used on this card at the very bottom of this post.

HappyHeartsGiftCard_Both.jpg Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” Card Base, (2) 5½” x 4¼” Sapphire Cardstock, 5¼” x 4″ B&T Paper (Plaid Slate), 2″ x 4¼” Sapphire Cardstock, 4″ x 2½” B&T Paper (Plaid Ruby), (3) ¾” x ¾” Sapphire Cardstock, 2¾” Sapphire Cardstock Circle, 2½” White Daisy Cardstock Circle, 2½” x 2½” Slate Cardstock

Assembly Instructions:
1. Adhere a piece of 5½” x 4¼” Sapphire cardstock to the card base.
2. Adhere the 5¼” x 4″ B&T paper to the center of the Sapphire cardstock.
3. Using an Embossing Folder, dry emboss the 2″ x 4¼” Sapphire cardstock, then adhere to the front of the card horizontally approximately 1″ from the bottom. HappyHeartGiftCard
4. With the long side at the top, score the other piece of 5½” x 4¼” Sapphire cardstock at 2¾”. Fold the cardstock in half lengthwise then adhere to the center of the card.
5. Adhere the three ¾” squares to the outside of the folded Sapphire cardstock as shown.
6. Using Black Ink, stamp the sentiment onto the White Daisy circle, then adhere the White Daisy circle to the center of the Sapphire circle.
7. Adhere the circles to the left side of the 4″ x 2½” B&T paper allowing the sides of the circles to hang over the edge slightly. Trim the circles so they are flush with the edge of the paper.
8. Adhere the 4″ x 2½” B&T paper to the center of the outside of the folded Sapphire cardstock. Add the Twine Bow and Silver Gems to the sentiment.
9. Using a 1″ circle punch, create a notch in the top of the 2½” x 2½” Slate cardstock. Using Black Ink, stamp the “Heart” image below the notch.  Wrap Twine twice around the cardstock and secure to the back.
10. Adhere to the inside of the folded Sapphire cardstock to create a gift card holder.
11. If desired, stamp a sentiment inside the card.

Don’t forget! The Jack papers and accessories are available for a
few more weeks while supplies last.  Make sure to visit my website to

2017AugustSOTMWelcome to the School Year Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! We will be featuring the August School Year stamp set, which is perfect for creating cards, scrapbook pages, or gifts for teachers and friends.  If you have come here from Brandi Robinson’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog.  This blog hop is designed to allow you to start here and work your way around. It’s simple, fun, and full of ideas using the School Year stamp set.

If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog: http://ifyoublingit.blogspot.com/p/stamp-of-month-blog-hop-list.html.

During the month of August, I will be creating weekly projects using the  School Year stamp set. This week, I have created a sweet back-to-school gift and I wanted to share with you how you can create a this box using Cricut® Design Space.  I love teaching people how to use their Cricut® machines, so I encourage you to dust off your machine and take the time to follow this quick tutorial. As always, I’ve included a list of the products used to create this project at the very bottom of this post.

SchoolYearGiftBox.jpg

Creating this Box Using Design Space:
1. Insert a Square shape using INSERT SHAPE. Unlock the size to change the SIZE of the box to 4¼” x 5½”. Set the POSITION to X=0″ and Y=0″. (This will help when positioning score lines.)
2. Insert a Score Line using INSERT SHAPE. Set the SIZE of the Score Line at 5½” and the POSITION at X=1″ and Y=0″.
3. DUPLICATE the Score Line and set the POSITION at X=3.25″ and Y=0″.
4. Insert a third Score Line, and ROTATE 90°. Change the  SIZE at 4¼” and the POSITION at X=0 and Y=2.25″.
5. DUPLICATE the third Score Line a POSITION at X=0 and Y=3.25″.
6. Insert a Score Line, Rotate 90°, then change the Size to 1″ and the POSITION at X=0 and Y=2.25″. In the LAYERS PANEL click the Score Circle, then change the Score Line to a Cut Line.
ScoreLineChange

7. DUPLICATE the Cut Line, and set the POSITION at X=0 and Y=3.25″.
8. DUPLICATE the Cut Line, and set POSITION at X=3.25″ and Y=2.25″
9. DUPLICATE the Cut Line, and set POSITION at X=3.25″ and Y=3.25″
10. SELECT ALL and ATTACH.  This will attach all the Score Lines and Cut Lines to the Rectangle.
11. MAKE IT and you are ready to go.  I was able to make four boxes from one 12″ x 12″ sheet of cardstock.  (NOTE: You will need a Cricut® Scoring Tool to create score lines.)

You can continue through the blog hop and see more ideas from over twenty other Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month’s School Year stamp set and other great Close to My Heart products on their blogs.

Storybook Vintage Layout

July is almost over and time is running out to purchase this awesome stamp set.  Throughout the month, I have posted some simple projects you can make using the Storybook Alphabet acrylic stamp set.  This week, I have created a vintage layout for my heritage album using some of our Basics Cardstocks and Rustic Home Fundamentals.  The ENTIRE Basics color palette is retiring this month as well as all of our Fundamentals B&T papers. Make sure to visit my website and order your Basics cardstock, inks, and reinkers, as well as your Fundamentals Papers before they are gone FOREVER.

StorybookVintageLayout.jpg

You can easily make this to a school page for your child by simply changing the color palette to primary colors or by shading in the letters. As always, I have created a list of items used on this layout at the very bottom of this post.

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ Cocoa Cardstock, 11½” x 11″ Cashmere Cardstock, 10″ x 5″ Sweet Leaf Cardstock, 7½” x 1″ B&T Paper (Basics Fundamentals), 8″ x 1″ B&T Paper (Basics Fundamentals)

Techniques Used on the Layout:
• The Storybook Alphabet letter stamps were placed randomly onto large 4″ x 5″ My Acrylix blocks, then stamped onto the background cardstock using Cocoa Ink.
StorybookVintageLayout_Block
• The edges were sponged with Cocoa Ink.  I also applied some Cocoa Ink with a sponge onto the letter background of the Sweet Leaf and Cashmere cardstock.
• The White Burlap Ribbon was attached using Micro Glue Dots.  The knot was tied separately, then adhered to the page with a Micro Glue Dot.
• The Rustic Fundamentals Vellum was attached using our Bonding Memories Glue Pen.  I applied the glue the full length of the vellum, allowed it to dry until it was tacky, then attached it the tie B&T paper strip.

Paper Bird Watercolor Card

It’s time for the weekly Color My Heart Dare project and this week was quite the challenge for me.  I rarely combine cool and warm colors, yet this week we were required to use Poppy, Tangerine, Willow, Glacier, Slate and White Daisy with optional Gold. My solution was to create a “cool” look to the color palette by using our Watercolor paints and keeping the accents simple.  Using the Paper Bird stamp set allowed me to create accents with simple, uncomplicated details.  This stamp set is only available during the month of July for our Buy Two Get One FREE Stampagaza event.

PaperBirdWatercolorCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” Slate Cardstock, 5¼” x 4″ B&T Paper (Script Uptown Fundamental), 4½” X 3¼” Watercolor Paper

Techniques Used:
•
The “Paper Bird” image was stamped onto the Uptown Fundamental Vellum using Black Memento Ink then heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.
•  The “Paper Heart” was stamped with VersaMark Ink onto State Cardstock, then heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.
•  The striped background was created with Watercolor Paints onto the 4½” X 3¼” Watercolor Paper, then was cut 1″ from the bottom after it dried.
•  The edges of the Watercolor paper and Heart Image were distressed with the Edge Distresser.

Many of the products shown here are retiring this month.
If you are interested in purchasing them, please
visit my website before July 31st.
