Love of Crafting Treats

Can you believe that August is almost over? I have been working away in my craft room trying to prepare for upcoming events, when I realized that this adorable stamp set will be gone in a few days. ūüėĘ Honestly, the For the Love of Crafting stamp set is one set I wish was available throughout the year.¬† I have been able to create so many projects with these sentiments and images.

Before the month ends, I had to show you one more project I have been working on for a special group of ladies.  These fabulous little treat bags were simple to create using the For the Love of Crafting stamp set and our Close to My Heart products.

I simply cut out the two tags from White Daisy & Poppy cardstock using images from our You Are Here Cricut‚ĄĘ collection. I brushed light blue¬†watercolor¬†onto both tag backgrounds to match the gift bags.¬† I then splattered red watercolor and¬†shimmer¬†onto the larger tag.¬† Once both tags were dry, I stamped each image in Memento Ink and shaded in the word “Glitter” using a Journaling Pen. I then added some more shimmer (of course) to the word “Glitter” to make it really stand out.

Add a few Black Dots, some leftover ribbon and twine, with, of course, chocolate, and these treats are all set to give away to some very deserving women.

If you haven’t had a chance to purchase the¬†For the Love of Crafting stamp set, make sure to get a hold of one before August 31st.¬† Many of our products, like the Poppy Cardstock & Memento Ink, are retiring at the end of the month. You can visit the GOING SOON section of my website to see a full list of the retiring products AND if your order totals $50.00 or more*, you can get the¬†For the Love of Crafting stamp set¬†for ONLY $5.00. ūüėĀ I can’t wait to see what you create with this set!

June is STAMP-endous

Stampaganza is back! During July, buy any two My Acrylix¬ģ¬†stamp sets at the full retail price and get a third stamp set of equal or lesser value free! Choose from stamp sets in the current Annual Inspirations or Seasonal Expressions 2, plus the popular Solos number and letter stamp sets that we’ve brought back just for July!

I am so excited that Close to My Heart has brought back their popular Solos stamp sets which can also be purchased in two different bundles, one for letters and one for numbers.  I will be creating a few projects with these sets during the month of July,  but while you wait, you can find a plethora of inspiration on Pinterest using these adorable stamps.

There are so many amazingly talented crafters out there who have used these stamp sets to create layouts, cards, gifts boxes and more.¬† If you are a lover of our Idea Books, you will also find quite a few ideas using these stamps in our “older” idea books or past catalogs.

I can’t wait to see what you create!

Tuesday Tutorial Uploading an Image

Many times I am looking for a specific project I want to make, but I cannot find it anywhere in Cricut Design Space‚ĄĘ.¬† This is when the “Upload” feature comes in handy.¬† I can add just about any image I find online into my Canvas and create a cut image, write image, or a print-then-cut image. This past week, I really wanted a specific box that was not in my Images files, so I found an SVG file and uploaded into Design Space‚ĄĘ. Today, I am going to show you how I did that.

Design Space‚ĄĘ Instructions:
1. Using your favorite search engine, search “SVG Box File”.¬† I found one that I liked on The Craft Chop.¬† (Make sure the site you choose is reputable and that you have up-to-date antivirus software on your computer.)
2. Save the file onto your computer. Take note of where you saved the file so you can find it later.¬† I have a file called “SVG Files” in my Google Drive that I save all of mine to.
3. Open a New Project in Cricut Design Space‚ĄĘ.
4. Choose UPLOAD, then choose UPLOAD IMAGE.

5. BROWSE to find the SVG image you saved earlier. Open the image and it will appear on the screen.

6. NAME and TAG your image so that you can find it later.  Choose SAVE.

7. You will see the image you uploaded in your “Recently uploaded images” files.¬† The image will remain in your files until you Delete it.¬† (You can delete the image by choose the (i)information button and choosing delete.)

8. Select the image you wish to load onto your Canvas and choose INSERT IMAGE.
9. As you can see, all of the lines are turned into cut lines once the image is uploaded. You will need to choose the “Scissors” image next to each line and change it to a “Score Line”.

10. SELECT ALL and ATTACH so that the Score Lines are attached to the image. Resize as needed and Make it.

That’s it! Now you have the perfect box you need to your project.¬† Be sure you watch your inbox so that you can see¬†the Father’s Day Card & Box project I created using this image. I can’t wait to see what you create in Design Space‚ĄĘ.

If you have been considering upgrading you machine so that you play along in Cricut Design Space‚ĄĘ, now is the time to take advantage of an amazing special.¬† May 25th through June 6th,¬†Cricut Explore¬ģ machines are on sale starting at $149.99 PLUS you can get FREE shipping using the code MAYSHIP.¬†

Tuesday Tutorial

Graduation Money Holder (Part One)

This time of year, we receive quite a few graduation invitations and I am always trying to find a simple, yet, stylish way to congratulate the kids for all their hard work. If you are like me, you can’t just go purchase a card from the store, you need to make something fun and unique. This year, I found a pattern to create this money envelope which I replicated in Cricut Design Space‚ĄĘ so that I could make multiples without too much work. (All I have to do is change the cardstock color.) This week, I have created a Design Space‚ĄĘ tutorial for you and included the list of supplies used at the very bottom of this post.

Design Space Instructions:
1. Insert a SQUARE SHAPE, resize to 7.25″w x 7″h, then POSITION shape at x=0 and y=0.
2. Insert a SCORE LINE and resize it to 7″h. POSITION the Score Line at x=2 and y=0.
3. DUPLICATE the Score Line and POSITION it at x=5.25 and y=0. (DO NOT ATTACH)
4. Insert a SQUARE SHAPE and resize to 2.75″w x 7″h. DUPLICATE the Rectangle and resize to 2.25″w x 7″h. SELECT all three Rectangle shapes and choose ALIGN CENTER.

5. Insert a CIRCLE SHAPE and resize to 2.5″w x 1.5″h. DUPLICATE the shape two times (three ovals) then place one Oval at the base of the rectangle, centering it to create the cut-out on the envelope.
6. Select the smallest rectangle and the oval then choose SLICE. DELETE the unwanted images. Repeat with the remaining Ovals and Rectangles. (Some images will “move to front” when you slice. Just “move to back” as needed.)

7. Select the Largest Rectangle and the two Score Lines and choose ATTACH.
8. Add Star Shapes if desired and change the colors to the desired colors.

Once the images are cut out, you can use the Color Your Life stamp set to add the “Celebrate” sentiment. Place adhesive ¬ľ” along the side of the Base Cardstock, fold in the sides and adhere them to form a pocket. Adhere the remaining layers and stars, using Thin 3D Foam Dots as needed for dimension.

You have now created the basic envelope for the Graduation Money Holder. Next week, I will continue with project to show you how to create the money insert. While you wait, you can cut out and assemble all of the envelopes you need for your hard working graduates. I can’t wait to see what you create with this tutorial!
