No Worries Retirement Card

Each week, I am challenged to create something new, and often, I try to maximize my efforts.  For this weeks Color My Heart Color Dare, I found the perfect color combination for one of my upcoming Inked Background Workshop cards.   Our Sapphire, Glacier, New England Ivy, White Daisy and Desert Sand Ink colors were a perfect combination to create this Oceanside scene for a retirement card.  Can’t you just picture yourself spending the rest of your days on this beach?

InkedBackgroundRetirementCard

This card is part of my No Worries Inked Background Card Workshop which you can attend in July.   If you are one of my long-distance followers, you can purchase the Workshop Guide and follow the detailed instructions to recreate these relaxing scenes using our inks and sponging techniques.

This card uses our No Worries papers, which I had found to be one of the best paper packs to create with. You can find a list of the remaining supplies I used to create this card at the bottom of this post. Please feel free to ask questions about the card, my upcoming workshop, and the products used on this card.

Here’s a Quick Tip  when using our inks and sponges.  I have found that it works best to cut our Round Sponge into sixths, then attach one end of the sponge into a Binder Clip.  I have each of mine labeled with the color name on the top of the Binder Clip and they all fit into bin on my desk.  This keeps my hands a little cleaner and prevents my ink pads from getting contaminated with other colors.

Fun Folded No Worries Card

The adventures continue with Inked Background cards for my July workshop. This week, I created a simple Inked Background on the front of a rustic z-fold card using our No Worries paper and accessories.  As always, I included a list of supplies I used to create this card at the bottom of this post.

FoldedInkedBackgroundCard.jpg

In July, I will be teaching a workshop showing you how to create inked backgrounds for cards.  If you love these Inked Backgrounds as much as I do, you will want to visit my blog weekly or subscribe to my workshops newsletter to learn how you can attend one of my workshops.  The July No Worries Creative Club Workshop will feature three inked background cards and two layouts using inking techniques.  I will also have Workshop Guides available, for those who cannot attend, explaining how to create these amazing projects.

If you decide to start trying to create some amazing Inked Backgrounds, and you suddenly realize that the background seems too dark or patchy, then I suggest you purchase our  White Daisy Exclusive Inks Stamp pad.  This ink pad is a Pigment Ink that works well to blend our water-based dye inks.  Your colors will blend beautifully and have a gorgeous, muted, watercolor look. 🙂

Hello Foxy Fence Card

The June Stamp of the Month, Hello Foxy,  has three cute little foxes, adorable little flowers, a wreath and  sentiments.  This week, I used the floral Wreath image with our Rustic Home Fundamentals to create a gender neutral card that can be given for just about any occasion.  During the month of June, I will be creating weekly projects using the Hello Foxy stamp set, so be sure to visit often.   As always, I’ve included a list of the products I used to create this card at the very bottom of this post.

FoxyFenceCard

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Card Base, (7) 5″ x ½” B&T Paper (I used Rustic Fundamentals Woodgrain), (2) 4¼” x ½” B&T Paper (I used Rustic Fundamentals Woodgrain),  5″ x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock (for stamped image)

Assembly Instructions:
1. To create the inked background, use a sponge to apply Sweet Leaf Ink to the bottom third of the card base, then, using Glacier ink, sponge color on the top two-thirds of the card base.   NOTE: I prefer to use sticky notes with the full-adhesive on the back to create a mask. I laid the card base flat on my work surface, then masked the edges.
FoxyFenceBackground.jpg2. Create a “Fence Picket” by trimming the tops of each of the seven 5″ x ½” B&T paper strips.  Using a sponge, apply Desert Sand ink to the edges.
3. Adhere the “Fence Pickets” vertically, evenly spaced, onto the card base.
4. Using a sponge, apply Desert Sand ink to the edges of the two 4¼” x ½” B&T paper strips.  Adhere these paper strips horizontally to create the “Fence Railings”. Using Black Ink, stamp the sentiment onto the right side of the bottom “Fence Railing”.
5. Using Black Ink, stamp the “Wreath” image onto the White Daisy cardstock. Using Watercolor Pencils, shade the “Wreath” image.  (I used Dutch Blue, Spring Iris, Honey, Clover Meadow, and Citrus Leaf.)
6. Cut out the “Wreath” image and adhere it to the “Fence” using Thin 3D Foam Tape. NOTE: I used our Circle Thin Cuts to cut out the center circle.
7. Using Black Ink, stamp the “Sitting Fox” image onto the White Daisy cardstock. Using Watercolor Pencils, shade the “Sitting Fox” image.  (I used Brown Bag and Autumn Terracotta.)
8. Cut out the “Sitting Fox” image then adhere to the bottom left side of the card using Thin 3D Foam Tape.
9.  If desired, add a Jute Bow and stamp a sentiment inside the card.

Remember, the Hello Foxy Acrylic stamp set is available until June 30th !  Contact me or visit my website to see how you can get this stamp set for only $5.00!

No Worries Inked Background

This week’s Color My Heart Dare challenge focuses on our No Worries products and required the use of Cocoa, Lemon, Smoothie, Sea Glass, Cashmere and White Daisy.  That may seem like quite the color palette, but I found it to be perfect for creating a beach sunset scene. As always, I included a list of supplies I used to create this card at the bottom of this post.

NoWorriesInkedBackground_CardA.jpg

I have had many people ask how these backgrounds are created, so I have decided that my July Workshops will focus on Inked Backgrounds.   I plan to teach how to create this card and two others.  Visit my blog throughout the month to see what projects you can make at my No Worries Creative Club Workshop.  I will also have Workshop Guides available, for those who cannot attend, explaining how to create an inked background.

Email me at misscarriectmh@gmail.com to order your $3.00 guide with detailed instructions for creating this card. As always, you will receive a FREE workshop guide of your choice with any $30 online order on my website (before shipping & tax).

Purchase

If you decide to start trying to create some amazing Inked Backgrounds, I would suggest that you get yourself an All Purpose Mat.  This tool is a time-saver when it comes to cleaning up your work surface after inking.  Your hands may be a mess, but your work surface will be clean. 😉

Don’t forget to visit my site throughout the month so that you can see more ideas using the No Worries paper pack and accessories.

Hello Foxy Blog Hop

Welcome to the Hello Foxy Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  We will be featuring the June Hello Foxy stamp set, which is one of the most adorable sets I have seen this summer. 2017JuneSOTM This acrylic stamp set has three cute little foxes, fun little flowers, a wreath and all occasion sentiments.  It is a must-have for your collection.   If you have come here from Sheila Bennett’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog.  This blog hop is designed to allow you to start here and work your way around. It’s simple, fun, and full of ideas.

If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog: http://ifyoublingit.blogspot.com/p/stamp-of-month-blog-hop-list.html.

During the month of June, I will be creating weekly projects using the Hello Foxy stamp set. This week, I used inks to create a simple background for one of the cute little Fox images and made a quick card that can be used for any occasion by simply changing the sentiment.  As always, I’ve included a list of the products I used to create this card at the very bottom of this post.

InkedHelloFoxyCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 12″ x 6″ White Daisy Cardstock, 6″ x 6″ Crystal Blue Cardstock,  5¾” x 5¾” Whisper Cardstock, 5½” x 5½” White Daisy Cardstock, 2″ x 2″ White Daisy Cardstock (for stamped image)

Assembly Instructions:
1. Score the 12″ x 6″ White Daisy cardstock at 6″ to create a card base.
2. To create the inked background, begin by creating a mask with a 3¾” circle cutout.  NOTE: I prefer to use sticky notes with the full-adhesive on the back for masks.  I taped four together, cut out the circle, then transferred them to the center of the 5½” x 5½” White Daisy cardstock.
3. Using a sponge, apply Sweet Leaf Ink to the bottom third of the circle, then, using Glacier ink, sponge color on the top two-thirds of the circle.  Remove the mask to reveal an inked circle background.
4. Using Fern Ink, stamp the “Flower” image onto the bottom center of the circle, then stamp two “Flower Garland” images on either side to create an extended garland. NOTE: If you do not want the flowers off the edge of the circle, you can leave the mask on while stamping. I did create a mask for the center flower before stamping the “Flower Garland”.
5. Using Watercolor Pencils, shade the Garland image. I used Citrus Leaf and Sorbet.
6. Using Black Ink, stamp the sentiment above the Garland image.
7. Using Black Ink, stamp the “Sitting Fox” image onto the 2″ x 2″ White Daisy cardstock.
8.  Using Watercolor Pencils, shade the “Sitting Fox” image.  I used Brown Bag and Autumn Terracotta.
9. Cut out the “Sitting Fox” image then adhere to the card above the sentiment.
10.  Adhere the 5½” x 5½” White Daisy cardstock to the center of the 5¾” x 5¾” Whisper cardstock, then adhere to the 6″ x 6″ Crystal Blue cardstock. Adhere the cardstock layers to the front of the card base.

I love the look of watercolors, and though I have not perfected this medium, I do love that it is very forgiving.   This week’s Color My Heart Dare challenge gave me the freedom to experiment with my  watercolor palette and use lots of colors on the flowers from the Live, Laugh, Love Stamp of the Month.  This stamp set is available for purchase until May 31st , so make sure to get your’s before it is gone.   As always, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this card at the very bottom of this post.MaySOTM_WatercolorCard

Assembly Instructions:

2. Create a mask to cover the stamped flower images, then splatter a variety of Watercolor paint colors onto the right side of the Watercolor paper.  Allow the paint to dry before continuing.

Quick & Easy Floral Card

Sometimes you need a last minute card and it can be difficult to find a design that doesn’t take tons of time or try your patience.  The whimsical flowers in the Live, Laugh, Love Stamp of the Month are perfect for this kind of card making project. This week, I joined the Color My Heart Dare Challenge and found the bright colors to be a perfect addition to my quick & simple card.   As always, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this card at the very bottom of this post.

MaySOTMQuickCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Card Base, 2¼” x 4¼” B&T Paper (Raspberry Adventure Fundamentals), 2” x 4¼” B&T Paper (Lagoon Adventure Fundamentals), 1¾” x 4¼” White Daisy Cardstock, 2″ x 2″ White Daisy Cardstock (for stamped images)

Assembly Instructions:
1. Using Blossom Ink, randomly stamp the “Flower” image onto the White Card Base.
2. Using Black Ink, stamp the sentiment onto the right side of the 1¾” x 4¼” White Daisy Cardstock. Wrap the Pink Twine around the bottom of the White Daisy cardstock and secure to the back.
3. Layer the 1¾” x 4¼” White Daisy Cardstock onto the center of the 2” x 4¼” B&T paper, then onto the center of the 2¼” x 4¼” B&T paper.  Place the layered paper onto the card as shown.
4. Using Black Ink, stamp the “Four Petal Flower” image onto the 2″ x 2″ White Daisy cardstock.  Create a mask of the flower, then stamp the “Leaf” images using Black Ink.
5. Using a Blending Pen, shade in the “Four Petal Flower” image with Raspberry ink.
6. Using a Blending Pen, shade in the “Leaf” images with Lagoon ink.
NOTE: A Blending Pen is the perfect tool to use if you want your images to match your papers.  Just add ink to the well of an ink pad, dip the end of the Blending Pen into the ink, then shade the images just like you are using a marker.
7. Cut out the stamped images and attach to the left of the sentiment using Thin 3D Foam Tape. Adhere a large Black Dot to the center of the “Four Petal Flower”.
8. If desired, add a sentiment to the inside of the card.

Live Beautifully Mother’s Day Card

Close to My Heart has outdone themselves for National Scrapbooking Month. The Live Beautifully collection has an awe-inspiring paper pack and acrylic stamp set that I used to create some beautiful Mother’s Day cards.  This week, I joined the Live Beautifully Color Dare challenge with this gorgeous basket weave card. During the month of May, Color My Heart Dare has challenged paper crafters to use this breathtaking Live Beautifully collection.  If you wish to create this card, I have  included a list of the products I used to at the very bottom of this post.

LiveBeautifullyBasketWeave.jpg

Paper Needed: 8½” x 5½” Sea Glass Cardstock, 3¼” x 5½” B&T Paper (I used Black Rose), 1¼” x 5¼” B&T Paper (I used Gold Rose), ½” x 5¼” B&T Paper (I used Gold Zip-Strip), 1¼” x 4” B&T Paper (I used Pink Ombre), 3″ x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock

Assembly Instructions:
1. Fold the 8½” x 5½” Sea Glass Cardstock at 4¼” to create the card base.
2. Place a template over the folded edge with slash marks facing down, secure it in place, then cut on all lines.   NOTE: I recreated the template in Cricut® Design Space so that I could use it again in the future.
3. Cut the bottom triangle off and set it aside. DO NOT THROW THIS AWAY.
LiveBeautifullyBasketWeave_StepOne
4. Open the card and lay it flat with the outside of the card facing up. Working on the outside of the card, fold every other triangle down, and tuck it under the one below.
5. Adhere the triangle cut from the bottom of the card to the top and tuck the end under.
LiveBeautifullyBasketWeave_StepTwo
6. Adhere the 3¼” x 5½” B&T paper to the front of the card.
7. Cut chevrons into the shorter ends of the 1¼” x 5¼” B&T paper and the ½” x 5¼” B&T paper, then adhere to the card as shown.
8. Cut a chevron into the shorter end of the 1¼” x 4” B&T paper. Using Black Ink, stamp the sentiment, then adhere the paper strip to the card.
9.  Using Pixie Ink, stamp the “Rose” image onto the White Daisy cardstock.  To create the shaded look, I used the Bubblegum and Sorbet Watercolor pencils on the stamped image.
LiveBeautifullyBasketWeave_Rose
10. Using Sea Glass Ink, stamp the “Leaves” image onto the White Daisy cardstock. I shaded the leaves using the Ocean Watercolor pencil.
11.  Adhere the “Leaves” and “Rose” images to the card using a Glue Pen and Thin 3D Foam Tape.
12.  Add a sentiment to the inside of the card if desired.

Live, Laugh, Love Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  We will be featuring May’s Stamp of the
Month, Live, Laugh, Love, which is designed with spring in mind. This set is full of2017MaySOTM whimsical flowers and words that can be used for multiple paper crafting projects.  If you have come here from Krista Hershberger’s blog, you are on the right path!

During the month of May, I will be featuring  projects using the Live, Laugh, Love stamp set. This week, the floral “LOVE” sentiment  inspired me to create a softly shaded wedding card.  AS always, I’ve included a list of the products I used to create this card at the very bottom of this post.

LoveWeddingCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Daisy Cardstock, 5½” x 4¼” B&T Paper (I used Whimsy Fundamentals),  (2) 1″ x 4¼” B&T Paper (I used Whimsy Fundamentals), (2) 2″ x 4¼” B&T Paper (I used Whimsy Fundamentals), 2″ x 2″ White Daisy Cardstock, 5½”x 5¼” Acetate (I used a cover from a discarded Cricut® mat)

Assembly Instructions:
1.  With the 5¼” side at the top, score the Acetate at 4¼”.
2.  Using a strong adhesive, adhere the (2) 1″ x 4¼” B&T paper strips horizontally along the top, to the left of the score line, onto the front and back of the acetate.
3. Using Black Memento Ink, stamp “Together” horizontally onto one of the 2″ x 4¼” B&T paper strips.
4. Using a strong adhesive, adhere the (2) 2″ x 4¼” B&T paper strips horizontally along the bottom, to the left of the score line, onto the front and back of the acetate making sure that the stamped sentiment is on the front of the card. Set aside to dry completely.
5. Using Black Memento Ink, stamp “LOVE” onto the center of the 5½” x 4¼” White Daisy Cardstock approximately 1½” from the top.  Shade in the flowers using Watercolor Pencils and a Small Round Waterbrush. I used Crystal Blue, Citrus Leaf, Sorbet, and Sunny Yellow. NOTE: I find that it works best to use the pencils more like a palette.
6.  You should have a 1″ strip of Acetate on the right side of the card. Using a strong adhesive, adhere the 5½” x 4¼” White Daisy Cardstock to the Acetate to create the inside of the card, then adhere the, 5½” x 4¼” B&T paper to create the back of the card. Once dry, close the card using a Bone Folder to burnish the fold.
7. Using Black Memento Ink, stamp the “Striped Flower” and two “Leaf” images onto the 2″ x 2″ White Daisy cardstock. Shade in the images using Watercolor Pencils and a Small Round Waterbrush. I used Citrus Leaf, Sorbet, Honey, and Sunny Yellow. Cut out the images and adhere to the card using Thin 3D Foam tape.
8.  If desired, use a Corner Rounder on each of the corners of the card.  Add three small White Dots onto the card as shown.

You can continue through the blog hop and see more ideas from approximately twenty Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month’s Stamp of the Month and other great Close to My Heart products on their blogs.

Easter Lily Card

This modest card proclaims “He Lives”.  Simple, yet so important to remember.  Easter is about proclaiming  that Jesus conquered death, and because of this, so can we through God’s grace and salvation.  “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance : that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (I Cor 15:3-4).  We celebrate Easter with bunnies, candy, gifts, and eggs, yet we often forgot the real reason to celebrate.

EasterLilyCard.jpg

This card was created using the Slice feature in Cricut® Design Space along with a Lily from our Flower Market Cricut® Cartridge. Today’s tutorial will walk you through using the slice feature to create the frame for this card. As always, the list of supplies I used to create this card can be found at the very bottom of this post.

Creating the Frame using the Slice Feature:
1. Open a new project in Cricut® Design Space.
2. ‘INSERT IMAGE’ and in the search box type Label #M362D4.  (This is a free image).
3. Open the ‘EDIT’ panel and resize the Label to 4.75″ height.
4. With the Label selected, choose the ‘SLICE’ option in the ‘LAYERS’ panel.
LabelImage_One
5. You will have three images layered on top of each other that can been seen as individual images in the ‘LAYERS’ panel. Separate them by moving them around onto the canvas. You will be using the Frame image only. Select the two Scalloped Oval images and Delete them.
LabelImage_Two

6. ‘INSERT SHAPE’ to insert a circle. Place the circle image over the Frame image. Unlock the aspect ratio (lock image), and drag the shape to create an oval that is slightly larger than the frame opening.  This will be the oval shape that goes behind the frame.
LabelImage_Three

The remaining Cricut® shapes are listed below. You can design this entire card in Cricut® Design Space, then assemble it onto a White card base. I used a Lily from our wonderful Flower Market Cricut® Cartridge along with the Cricut® Design Space writing feature to create the sentiment.  Once the card was assembled, I used our Clear Shimmer Brush on the frame and flowers to add a little sparkle. Please feel free to comment with any questions about this project.
