It’s simple, fun, and full of ideas using the products from the New Holiday Expressions catalog.

If you get lost , you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog.

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year, so naturally, I was drawn to the autumn themed products in the New Holiday Expressions catalog.  My favorite stamp set, so far, has been the Falling For You Cardmaking set with the matching Thin Cuts.  This set is full of possibilities.  You can shade the images with markers or pencils, cut them out and layer them, use them for a background, and more. On this card, I chose to use the stamp set many different ways, including heat embossing the images.  As always, I’ve included a list of the products used to create this card at the very bottom of this post.

HolidayBlogHop_Card
Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Card Base, 4½” x 3¼” Watercolor Paper, 1″ x 6″ Vellum Paper

Techniques Used:
• Since Fall is so full of color, I used our Watercolor paints to create a background on the 4½” x 3¼” Watercolor paper.  HolidayBlogHop_WatercolorBaseWhile is was still partially wet, I stamped the leaf images onto the cardstock using Flaxen & Saffron inks.  This is what mine looked like when I was finished.
• The larger leaf images we created using our Gold & White Embossing Powders. Once the watercolor paints were dry,  I stamped the White Embossed Leaf image first, heat it to set, then stamped the Gold Embossed Leaf image.
• The sentiment was created by taking the phrases and placing them in a line on a 3½” x 2″ Acrylix Block, then stamping them onto the watercolor paper with Black Ink.
• The smaller leaf images were heat embossed with our Gold & White Embossing Powders on the 1″ x 6″ piece of vellum.  I used the matching Thin Cuts to cut out the images, then layered them behind the watercolor paper.

Now “Hop” on over to Lucy A Marino’s blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting tips and other fun ideas!  Contact your CTMH Consultant, or visit my website to see all of the amazing Holiday Expressions products.

Autumn Thank You Card

I am a fan of quick and simple cards – the ones I can throw together in under ten-minutes.   I like cards that appear elegant and classy, yet took minimal effort to make.  If you feel as I do, you will adore this autumn thank you card which uses simple images from our Feel So Blessed stamp of the month. This card is all about textures. Texture can add so much to a simple card and bring it to the next level.  I have included a few simple techniques you can use to create texture on any card. As always, the list of products I used can be found at the very bottom of this post.

AutumnThankYouCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Card Base, 4¾” x 4″ Tangerine Cardstock, 2″ x 6″ Fern Cardstock, 1½” x 1″ Espresso Cardstock, 1½” x 3¾”” Almond Cardstock

Techniques Used:
• Embossing Folders are a great way to add texture. I used the Rose Embossing Folder on the Tangerine cardstock, rounded the corners, and cut it into 1″ strips.
• Our Thin Cuts create a soft edges around each of the images. Since my Cricut® was packed away, I needed an alternative way to cut out the leaves. Our Falling For You Cardmaking Thin Cut worked perfectly for this task.  (Just because they came with the stamp set, doesn’t mean I always have to use them with the stamps.) After cutting three leaves from Fern cardstock, I used the Buffalo Plaid Embossing Folder to add “veins” to the leaves.
• Ribbon is another way to add texture to a project.  I used Burlap Ribbon to create a decorative knot  and attached it to the bundle of leaves.
• You can use ink to add more depth & texture.  I inked all of the edges with Toffee Ink before attaching them to the card.

Don’t forget that the Feel So Blessed stamp of the month is only available until September 30th.  Visit the “Promotions” tab on my website to learn how you can purchase this stamp set for only $5.00.

From the Heart Color Dare Card

It has been almost a month since I last entered the Color My Heart Dare Challenge.  My life was a bit chaotic, so, unfortunately, crafting was not a priority.  I do love the fact that Close to My Heart allows me, as a consultant, to set my own hours so that when “life” changes, I can still have my family be my priority without worry.

This week, I used the From the Heart stamp set to create a card using Willow, Raspberry, Bashful, Charcoal and White Daisy for the Color My Heart Dare challenge.  I love that Close to My Heart has such beautiful products that we can use to make cards like this with very little time or effort.  This stamp set is available during the month of September for  $29.95 OR pay only $5.00 more and receive the From the Heart Kit to create twelve interactive cards using this stamp set.

FromtheHeartColorDareCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Card Base, 5¼” x 4″ Cardstock (Charcoal), 5″ x 3¾” Cardstock (White Daisy), 4″ x 1¾” Cardstock (Charcoal), 2¾” x 1½” Cardstock (White Daisy), ¾” x 1½” Cardstock (White Daisy)

Stamping Techniques:
Since the challenge only allowed two pinks and one green, I had to use these colors in multiple ways.  For this card I used the “Second Generation Stamping” technique to add depth to my project. What is Second Generation Stamping? Once a stamp is inked, you can achieve a second generation stamp by stamping the image first onto your desk pad (or other scratch piece of paper) and then onto your cardstock.

• The stem of the largest flower was stamped using Willow ink.  I created the “Leaves” by using the Second Generation of Willow. It still allows the stem to show through while using the same color of ink.
• The small cup shaped flowers were first stamped using the Second Generation of Raspberry Ink, then the detailed lines were added using Raspberry ink. Once again, I was able to use the same color, but the Second Generation technique allowed to details to show through.
• The From the Heart stamp set has many choices for layered flowers, and you can use Second Generation stamping to create depth and get more use out of you inks.  Below is a little “cheat sheet” I created to show you ways I stamped the larger flower using the Second Generation (2nd) stamping technique.

Thank You From the Heart

I am always in need of thank you cards, and I like to keep them on hand to grab for last minute mailings.  This week, I decided to create a thank-you card with autumn tones and floral images using the From the Heart stamp set.  This was a very simple project, easy to duplicate, and quick to make multiples of to put in my card stash.

For National Stamping Month, Close to My Heart has created this gorgeous floral stamp set that has over THIRTY-FIVE images.  This From the Heart stamp set has been enjoyable to use with it’s layered images and beautiful sentiments, but it is only available through September 30th. Make sure to visit my website to order your’s before it is gone. You can scroll down to the bottom of this post for the list of the products used to create this card.

NSMThankYouCard

Paper Needed: 4¼” x 5½” White Card Base, 4″ x 5¼” Cardstock (Saffron), 2½” x 5″ White Daisy Cardstock, 1″ x 5″ B&T Paper (Enchantment Fundamentals), 1″ x 1″ White Daisy Cardstock

Assembly Instructions:
1. Adhere the 4″ x 5¼” cardstock to the center of the White card base.
2. Using Fern Ink, stamp the “Stem” images onto the 2½” x 5″ White Daisy cardstock.
3. Using Flaxen Ink, stamp the “Fern” and “Leaf” images onto the White Daisy cardstock.
4. Using Saffron and Goldrush Inks, stamp the “Flower” images onto the White Daisy cardstock.
5. Using Sorbet Ink, stamp the “Large Flower Base” onto the 1″ x 1″ White Daisy cardstock. With Sorbet Ink, stamp the “Large Flower Second Layer” twice so that the Sorbet ink is darker than the first layer.
6. Using Poppy Ink, stamp the “Large Flower Third Layer”, then stamp the centers of the flower with Saffron and Goldrush inks.
7. Cut out the “Large Flower” image and adhere to the largest stem using Thin 3D Foam Dots.
8. Using a corner rounder, round the top corners of the White Daisy cardstock, then, with Black Ink, stamp the sentiment onto the upper right corner of the White Daisy cardstock.
9. Adhere the White Daisy cardstock onto the top center of the card.
10. Pull apart a few pieces of White Burlap Ribbon, then wrap the “twine” around the B&T paper strip. Adhere the strip to the card below the White Daisy cardstock and create a decorative knot with some more “twine”.

So Blessed & Grateful Card

I love the creating projects with all of the beautiful tones of fall and our Feel So Blessed stamp of the month makes me want to make even more projects this year.  You will enjoy using the sentiments of gratitude for both cards and scrapbook pages, as well as the simple, yet, elegant images that Close to My Heart chose for this stamp set. This week, I created a easy-to-assemble thank-you card using some of our  products from the NEW Holiday Expressions catalog.

SoBlessed&GratefulCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 11″ x 4¼” Cardstock (Almond),  5½” x 4¼” Cardstock (Almond), 1¾” x 4¼” B&T Paper (Cats & Bats),  1¼” x 4¼” Cardstock (Fern)

Assembly Instructions:
1. Fold the 11″ x 4¼” cardstock in half lengthwise at 5½” to create the card base, then using a Corner Rounder, round the corners of the card base. Set aside.
2. Using a Corner Rounder, round the two bottom corners of the 5½” x 4¼” cardstock. Using Watercolor Paints, splatter warm brown onto the  cardstock. Let dry.
3. Using Nutmeg Ink, stamp a “Feather” image onto the lower right side of the 5½” x 4¼” cardstock.
4. Create a mask from a sticky note to cover the stamped image, then stamp the second “Feather” image using Nutmeg Ink.MaskedFeather
5. Shade both “Feather” images using Watercolor Pencils and a Small Round Watercolor Brush. (I used Olive and Autumn Terracotta).
6. Using Black Ink, stamp the “Grateful” sentiment to the left of the feather images.
7. Create an ombre look by placing Goldrush Ink on half of the “Everything” sentiment and Saffron Ink on the other half.  Stamp the image onto the card below “Grateful”.
8. Adhere the 1¾” x 4¼” B&T paper strip horizontally across the top of the card.
9. Using the Leaves Embossing Folder, dry emboss the 1¼” x 4¼” cardstock. Adhere the cardstock to the card horizontally in the center of the B&T paper strip.
10. Gently pull apart a 6″ piece of White Burlap Ribbon into separate strands.  Wrap three stands BurlapRibbonRippingaround the 1¼” x 4¼” cardstock and attach to the back with tape.  Use two of the remaining strands to create a decorative knot on the left side of the card. Trim as needed.
11. Adhere the 5½” x 4¼” cardstock to the card base.
12. Add a sentiment to the inside of the card if desired.

Don’t forget that the Feel So Blessed stamp of the month is only available until September 30th.  Visit the “Promotions” tab on my website to learn how you can purchase this stamp set for only $5.00.

School Year Latte Card

Do you remember the excitement of going to purchase school supplies? You roamed the aisles breathing in all the colors and textures. You were so excited to bring it all home, put it in your pack, and take it to school.  As I pull out my New Basics Ink Pads, I am as excited as I was picking out school supplies years ago.  I am breathing in all the delicious colors in the new palette – Espresso, Almond, Toffee and Nutmeg.  These are just a few of the new basics that Close to My Heart has blessed us with this year.

On this week’s School Year stamp of the month project, I choose to use Almond and Nutmeg to create a whimsical card from our Artistry Cricut® cartridge. This card was fun to make and can be given to any teacher friend in your life. You can even add a small gift card as a thank you gift. As always, I have created a list of all the products used at the bottom of this post.

SchoolYearLatteCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 12″x 6″ White Daisy Cardstock, 6″ x 6″ Kraft Cardstock, 4″ x 4″ Almond Cardstock, 6″ x 6″ White Daisy Cardstock, 2″ x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock

Assembly Instructions:
1. To create the card base in Cricut® Design Space, you will use the “Coffee Mug” (#M40FC2A) image from the Artistry cartridge.  Duplicate the image four times. (Each will measure 4.25″ x 5.5″).
2. Rotate two of the images until the inner edges meet, then weld the two images together and cut from White Daisy cardstock to create the card base.
3. Cut the remaining “Coffee Mug” images from White Daisy and Kraft cardstock. Adhere the Kraft “Coffee Mug” onto the front of the card.
4. Trim the White Daisy “Coffee Mug” so just the lid portion remains. Using Almond ink, stamp the “Heart” images across to the middle of the “Lid”,  then adhere to the card.
5. Cut the “Cup Sleeve” from Almond cardstock. If desired, use an embossing folder to create texture. (I used our retired Striped embossing folder.)
6. Before adhering the “Cup Sleeve” to the card, wrap with White Burlap Ribbon creating a small knot on the right side. Adhere the “Cup Sleeve” to the card.
7. Using Nutmeg ink, stamp the “Frame” image onto White Daisy cardstock, then stamp the sentiment onto the center of the frame using Black ink.  Cut out the frame image and adhere to the card using Thin 3D Foam Tape.
8. Add a gift card or sentiment to the card and give it to someone who makes a difference in the lives of children.

The School Year stamp of the month is available until August 30th.

Happy Heart Gift Card

I love that Close to My Heart has a line of masculine papers because I have used the Jack paper pack for many of my projects including this multi-layered thank-you card. Sadly, these papers and their accessories are only available until August 30th, so be sure to purchase them before they retire.

I created this card for the weekly Color My Heart Dare challenge which required the use of Ruby, Slate, Sapphire, Willow, White Daisy, Black with optional Silver. I will admit that the Willow color was a bit of a challenge for me on this card, but I was able to find some twine in my stash that had both Ruby and Willow allowing me to “tie” everything together and create a clean looking card.  As always, I have created a list of the products used on this card at the very bottom of this post.

HappyHeartsGiftCard_Both.jpg Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” Card Base, (2) 5½” x 4¼” Sapphire Cardstock, 5¼” x 4″ B&T Paper (Plaid Slate), 2″ x 4¼” Sapphire Cardstock, 4″ x 2½” B&T Paper (Plaid Ruby), (3) ¾” x ¾” Sapphire Cardstock, 2¾” Sapphire Cardstock Circle, 2½” White Daisy Cardstock Circle, 2½” x 2½” Slate Cardstock

Assembly Instructions:
1. Adhere a piece of 5½” x 4¼” Sapphire cardstock to the card base.
2. Adhere the 5¼” x 4″ B&T paper to the center of the Sapphire cardstock.
3. Using an Embossing Folder, dry emboss the 2″ x 4¼” Sapphire cardstock, then adhere to the front of the card horizontally approximately 1″ from the bottom. HappyHeartGiftCard
4. With the long side at the top, score the other piece of 5½” x 4¼” Sapphire cardstock at 2¾”. Fold the cardstock in half lengthwise then adhere to the center of the card.
5. Adhere the three ¾” squares to the outside of the folded Sapphire cardstock as shown.
6. Using Black Ink, stamp the sentiment onto the White Daisy circle, then adhere the White Daisy circle to the center of the Sapphire circle.
7. Adhere the circles to the left side of the 4″ x 2½” B&T paper allowing the sides of the circles to hang over the edge slightly. Trim the circles so they are flush with the edge of the paper.
8. Adhere the 4″ x 2½” B&T paper to the center of the outside of the folded Sapphire cardstock. Add the Twine Bow and Silver Gems to the sentiment.
9. Using a 1″ circle punch, create a notch in the top of the 2½” x 2½” Slate cardstock. Using Black Ink, stamp the “Heart” image below the notch.  Wrap Twine twice around the cardstock and secure to the back.
