Simply Punny Cards

I must admit that when I opened up the A Little Bit of Pun stamp set and saw “Happy Valentine’s Day”, I thought “Just let me get through Christmas”.  Most people like to plan ahead, but me, well, I’m grateful when I remember to celebrate the holidays on the days their supposed to be celebrated.  As I plan my monthly projects,  I like to be able to show you what you can make using our stamp of the month, so this week I created some Simply Punny cards that you can give for just about any occasion. (even Valentine’s Day) As always, I’ve included a list of the products used to create these cards at the very bottom of this post.

LittleBItofPunCards.jpg

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Card Base, 5½” x 4¼” Cardstock, 5¼” x 4″ B&T Paper, 3″ x 4¼” Cardstock, 3¼” x 4½” White Daisy Cardstock, 2¼” x 2¼” Cardstock, 2″ x 2″ White Daisy Cardstock, ¼” x 12″ Silver Glitter Paper

Techniques Used:
•  I used Black Memento Ink to randomly stamp the images onto the 3¼” x 4½” White Daisy Cardstock, then shaded the images using our Watercolor paints.
After painting the images, I splattered Watercolor onto the White Daisy cardstock background.
The circles were cut using our Basic Circles Thin cuts, then attached to the card using 3D Foam Tape.

These cards are simple to make and fun to give.  I plan on sending mine out as holiday thank-yous.  Remember, the A Little Bit of Pun acrylic stamp set is only available until December 31st!  Contact me, or visit the Promotions tab my website to see how you can get this stamp set for only $5.00.

I can’t wait to see what you create!

Cricut You Are Here Collection Blog Hop

Welcome to the Cricut You Are Here Collection Blog Hop where we will be featuring our You Are Here Cricut Collection.  This cartridge is full of images representing life – daily activities, travel, parenthood, and family.  YouAreHereBadge If you have come here from Darlys Recker’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog.  This blog hop is designed to allow you to start here and work your way around. As I finished up my Christmas card list, I realized that I did not create enough cards, so I decided to make this Coffee Lovers Christmas card for my coffee loving friends. I created this in Cricut® Design Space using the Coffee to Go image from our You Are Here cartridge and have included a short tutorial for you to show you how to create the card base. As always, the list of supplies I used can be found at the very bottom of this post.

YouAreHereCoffeeCard.jpg

Cricut® Design Space Instructions:
1. After inserting the Coffee to Go – #M2845F0F image into your Canvas, RESIZE the image to 5.5″h.
2. UNGROUP the image so that you have two separate images in your Layers Panel, then DELETE the top layer. (I ROTATED the bottom layer 90′ to see it better.)
3. DUPLICATE your image, then FLIP HORIZONTAL.
FlipCupImage
4. Move the images until the “lids” touch completely, then SELECT ALL and WELD.
CupWeld5. Insert a SCORE LINE and RESIZE to 4″h. SELECT ALL and ALIGN CENTER.
CupScoreLine
6. To attach the Score Line to the image, SELECT ALL then choose ATTACH. (To check that it is attached, choose Make It and see if the score line is attached to the cup.)

I used the Contour and Slice options to create my additional layers, stamped a cute saying inside, and ended up with a pretty cute card.  You can continue through the blog hop and see more ideas from twenty other Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using the You Are Here Collection. and other great Close to My Heart products on their blogs.

December is Delightful

This time of year becomes busy for most of us.  We spend our days counting down until Christmas, reviewing all of our lists, and filling up our calendars, yet, we forget to take a time to relax.  This year, I encourage you to make December delightful by taking time to rest and create.  Start by making an amazing gift with the Through the Year Calendar Kit.

1712-cc-fb-cover

The Through the Year Calendar kit includes all of the supplies needed to create a beautiful calendar that you can use for yourself or give as a gift.  I love that this is a 12″ calendar because when the year is over, I plan on disassembling it and creating a delightful scrapbook full of the year’s memories.  On December 16th, I am offering a FREE Calendar workshop where you can come, spend some creative time with friends, and make this calendar.

I have two other workshops where you can come and enjoy some creative fun.  Learn Cricut® Design Space as you create a Wintry Scrapbook or create a sophisticated Family Layout and three Thank You cards.  Bring a friend to either workshop and receive a FREE Petite Perks Stamp set.

Don’t have time to come any of the December Workshops? You can still order the kits and sneak away for a little creative time to make any of the cards, scrapbook pages, or home decor projects that I have available in my online store. Make December even more delightful by giving yourself  an early Christmas gift of my Kit of the Month club. Treat yourself to a ready-to-assemble Scrapbook layout kit each month.

Not only can December be delightful, but Close to My Heart has made it “punny” with our A Little Bit of Pun stamp of the month.  Visit the “Promotions” tab on my website to learn how you can get this set for only $5.00. I will be posting ideas through the month using this stamp set, so make sure to “Follow” my blog, sign-up for emails, or visit often.

I hope that you take a little time to make December more delightful as you make something new.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Christmas Card Blog Hop

Welcome to the Christmas Card Blog Hop where we will be showcasing some amazing cards you can make using Close to My Heart products. ChristmasCardsBadge If you have come here from Jean McNulty’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog.  This blog hop is designed to allow you to start here and work your way around. It’s simple, fun, and full of ideas you can use to create your Christmas cards this year. If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog.

November is the time to start preparing for the holidays, writing lists, and sending out Christmas cards.   My husband and I send out quite a few cards each year to family, friends, and ministry partners, so I like to keep my designs as simple as possible.

CardinalChristmasCard

A few months ago, I created a project using this adorable Thoughtful Bird stamp set and promised to show you more ideas, so I have created this elegant Cardinal Christmas card that you can recreate using the stamp set and Cricut® Design Space.

Paper Needed: 12″ x 6″ Cranberry Cardstock, 5¾” x 5¾” B&T Paper (Beary Christmas), 2½” x 5¾” B&T Paper (Beary Christmas), 5″ x 5″ Black Cardstock, 3½” x 3½” White Daisy Cardstock, 3″ x 4″ Gold Foil Paper

The Thoughtful Bird stamp set set is one of our “multi-layered” stamp sets which allows you to layer three different stamps together to create this beautiful cardinal.  When I first purchased the stamp set, it seemed a bit overwhelming, but after using it a few times I fell in love with the possibilities. I am going to share with you a few tips for using this stamp set.

Tips & Techniques:

  • When you first receive your stamp, find a part of the image that you can use as a reference when you stamp the next layer.  On the bird, I used the eye, wing, and tail as my reference points.
  • Use a larger block than necessary, a stamp positioner, or stamp platform.  These will help you to line up the images when stamping.
  • When choosing the colors, search for images of the bird online.  The photos will help you determine which colors will look “realistic” when creating the bird.  This stamp set requires the ink tones to go from light to dark, so look at the undertone shades of the bird to see what might look best.
  • Use second-generation stamping, multi-stamping, and rock-and-roll stamping techniques to change the shade of your inks.
  • Don’t get discouraged if you mess up the first, second, or third time.  I stamped this Cardinal three times before I decided on the ink colors I wanted to use. Here is how my image came to life:

CardinalChristmasCard_LayerOne
I initially stamped the first layer with Cranberry ink, but the shade of red was too close to the Ruby I used in the next layer.  I searched a Cardinal image and found one with a lighter undertone, so I choose to use Smoothie.  Do you see that “eye” hole? This is one of my reference points I used when adding the next layer.

CardinalChristmasCard_LayerTwo
The second layer was stamped using Ruby ink.  I used the “eye” hole, wing tip, and tail as my reference points when stamping the second layer. This layer was stamped twice for a more intense shade of red.

CardinalChristmasCard_LayerThree
The final layer was the hardest for me to choose.  This layer adds the small details onto the bird image and it is the darkest color.  I initially considered black, but it seemed a little too intense.  Instead, I found that our Nutmeg Ink has a red undertone and blended nicely with the other red tones.

I stamped the beak, legs, and Holly branch once the bird was complete.  I love how it turned out! You can continue through the blog hop and see more ideas from twenty other Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their Christmas card ideas using Close to My Heart products.

Color Dare Card – Falling For You

I adore fall colors! I love their warmth and softness, so, of course, when I saw the Falling For You products, I knew they were a MUST have.  This week’s Color My Heart Dare challenge required to use of the Falling For You paper colors along with Saffron, Goldrush, and Fern plus one additional neutral color.  I chose to make this simple Thank You card along with two others using the Falling for You papers and stamp set.

FallingForYouThankYou_CardA

On this card, I used the Falling for You patterned paper with Espresso cardstock for the card base. The leaves were stamped with Fern and Goldrush ink, then cut out using the matching Thin Cuts. (LOVE THIS SET!)   I used the lighter side of the Saffron cardstock to stamp the sentiment.  I enjoyed this paper and stamp set so much that I made two other cards, duplicated them, and was able to make nine cards from one sheet of Falling For You paper.  (A few of them were Pinterest inspired.) Now I have a stock of Thank You cards to send to my wonderful customers. 🙂

FreeFallingForYouCardFile.jpg

Don’t you just love these cards?  I am giving away this three card guide FREE to anyone who places and order on my website during the month of November. This guide will show you how to recreate all of these cards three times from one sheet of Falling For You paper.  That’s NINE CARDS that you can use yourself or give as a gift to a teacher or friend.

As always, I have listed the products used on these cards at that bottom of this post.  I hope you enjoy these Falling For You products as much as I do.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Through the Year SOTM Blog Hop

Welcome to the Through the Year  Stamp of the Month Blog Hop where we will be featuring the November Through the Year stamp set. NovSOTMBadge This stamp set is perfect for planner addicts and paper crafters.   If you have come here from Tracie Cassidy’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog.  This blog hop is designed to allow you to start here and work your way around. It’s simple, fun, and full of ideas using the Through the Year stamp set.

If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog: http://ifyoublingit.blogspot.com/p/stamp-of-month-blog-hop-list.html.

During the month of November, I will be creating weekly projects using the Through the Year stamp set so make sure to visit often. This week, I have created a Christmas Gift Card Holder that I  designed in Cricut® Design Space.

GiftCard_FrontBack

If you have visited my blog in the past, you have noticed that I often take projects like this and design them to cut out on my Cricut®.  This allows me to re-use the project at a later date without needing to figure out the measurements, cuts, and score lines again.  Below, you will find a short tutorial of how I went about creating this Christmas Gift Card Holder in Design Space®.  As always, I’ve included a list of the products used to create this project at the very bottom of this post.

GiftCard_Inside

Paper Needed: 10″ x 5″ New England Ivy Cardstock, 2½” x 4″ B&T Paper (Beary Christmas), 2″ x 4″ B&T Paper (Beary Christmas), (2) ¾” x 4″ B&T Paper (Beary Christmas), (2) ¼” x 4″ Silver Foil Paper

Design Space Instructions:
1. Insert a SQUARE shape into your Canvas and resize the shape to 9″ x 4″.
2. I wanted a fancier edge so I WELDED a decorative square onto the end of my rectangle.  This is what my Canvas looked like before Welding.
GiftCard_Square
3. Once Welded, I resized the image to 9.625″ x 4″.  (The original size of the project was 4″ x 9 5⁄8″ so I converted it to decimals.)
4. Inserting Score Lines and Cut Lines can be tricky so it’s best to first place your image onto the 1″ x-axis and 1″ y-axis.  This will help you to place score lines perfectly.
GiftCard_Position
5. Insert four Score Lines and resize each one to 4″.  If you were doing this by hand, you would score at 1¾”, 4½” , 5¾”, 7″.  Since we have placed the image on the 1″ x-axis, we need to move our Score Lines to 2¾”, 5½” , 6¾”, 8″. You can do this by typing the numbers into the x-axis position box. The y-axis position box will be 1″ for each one.
GiftCard_ScoreLine6. Insert a Circle shape, unlock, and resize to 1″ x 1.75″. Center the Oval over the 6¾” Score Line, using Align Vertical as needed. If you wanted you could SLICE the Oval from the image and DELETE the unwanted images, but this is not needed since it will cut it out either way.
GiftCard_Oval7. Insert another Score Line and resize to 3.5″. Change the Score Line to a Cut Line in the Layers Panel.  Place the Cut Line at 1.25″ x-axis and 6.75 y-axis. (Centered over the Oval.)
GiftCard_CutLine
8. SELECT ALL and ATTACH so that all the Score Lines and Cut Line attach to the image.

The gift card holder was decorated using the Beary Christmas paper pack, Silver Foil Paper, and, of course, our Through the Year Stamp of the Month. You can continue through the blog hop and see more ideas from over twenty other Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month’s Through the Year stamp set and other great Close to My Heart products on their blogs.

Christmas Tunes Treats

Who doesn’t love getting sweet treats as a Christmas gift?  These little gift boxes are so simple  and inexpensive to make, that you will want to fill them with sweet treats for your family and friends this Christmas.  The metal tins were purchased in a 3-pack at the local dollar store, decorated with our B&T Christmas papers, then I added the tags I created with the Christmas Tunes stamp set.  Simple…easy…done!

ChristmasTunesSweetTreats
I know you will want to make some of these fun sweet treat tins so I have included  a Cricut® Design Space file and instructions to create these adorable tags. As always, the products I used for these tags are listed at the very bottom of this post.

Paper Needed: 12″ x 4″ White Daisy Cardstock, 6″ x 4″ Black Cardstock, 6″ x 4″ Almond Cardstock, 6″ x 4″ Linen Cardstock, 2¾” x 3¼” B&T Paper (Beary Christmas), 2¾” x 2″ B&T Paper (Silver & Gold)

Assembly Instructions For Wreath Tag:
1. Cut out the tags, circle, and sentiments using this Cricut® Design Space File.  (You will need to own Artbooking and Fling Std Font to cut out the images.)
2. Using the Christmas Borders “Snowflakes” background, stamp the images onto the Almond tag using VersaMark Ink, then sprinkle with Clear Embossing Power and use a Craft Heater to emboss.
3. Adhere the Almond tag onto the center of the White Daisy Tag.
4. Adhere the 2¾” x 3¼” Beary Christmas B&T Paper horizontally onto the tag, 1″ from the top of the tag, then place four Red Beary Christmas Dots onto the each of the corners.
5. Adhere the Sentiment onto the bottom right corner of the tag.
6. Using New England Ivy Ink, stamp the “Wreath” image onto the White Daisy circle, then adhere to the tag using 3D Foam Tape.
7. Using Cranberry Ink, stamp the “Banner” image onto a scrap of White Daisy cardstock, cut out the image, then adhere to the “Wreath” using 3D Foam Tape.
8. Create a decorative knot with a 6″ piece of White Burlap Ribbon then adhere to the top of the tag.
9. Loop a piece of White Twine through the holes and attach to the treat box then add a To/From sentiment onto the back of the tag.

ChristmasTunesTreatTags
The Snow Globe tag was created in the same manner with a few alterations.  I stamped the image using Black Memento Ink, shaded the image with ShinHan markers, and added glitter to the Snow Globe with a Clear Shimmer Brush. Since the base of this tag is black, I use our Chalk Marker to write my To/From sentiment.

Remember, the Christmas Tunes stamp set is only available until October 31st. Visit the Promotions tab on my website to learn how you can purchase this set for only $5.00.  Please post projects you have created using this festive stamp set on my facebook page.  I always LOVE seeing other people’s projects. I can’t wait to see what you create!!
