You Are Awesome Card

Do you know someone who is just amazingly awesome? I believe that it is good to recognize those who have blessed you with their friendship, willingness to listen, and ability to tolerate you.  This week, I created a card that you can give those awesome people using the a sentiment and little girl image from our A Bushel & a Peck stamp set.  Isn’t this just adorable?!  I love the combination of Glacier and Bashful together. If you would like to recreate this card you can find the list of supplies I used at the bottom of this post.

AwesometotheCoreCardBLOG

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Card Base, 5¼” x 4″ B&T (Blue Leaf Fresh Air), 4¾” x 3¼” Glacier Cardstock, 4¼” x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock, 4″ x 2¾” B&T (Pink Beautiful Freindship), White Daisy Cardstock for stamped image

Techniques & Tips Just for You:
• The Glacier cardstock was embossed using a small dots embossing folder.
• I curved the sentiment and placed it onto a block before stamping it onto the B&T paper with Black Ink.
• Here is a list of the ShinHan™ markers used:  Mahogany, Bronze, Clay, Light Orange, Pastel Peach, Tender Pink, Cerulean Blue Light, Turquoise Blue, Colorless Blender

I hope you take some time to create a few of these cards to give to those who are willing to put up with your nonsense. 😉  Remember, this exclusive  A Bushel & a Peck stamp set is only available through June 30th for $17.95 on my website or for only $5.00 with a qualifying purchase.  I can’t wait to see what you create with our Stamp of the Month.

Postcard Perfect Memories

I bet every vacation you have ever taken was Postcard Perfect.  (Well, most of them.)  Some of our postcards probably had pictures of exhausted parents, crying children, and the phrase “glad that’s over”,  BUT every single one of them is FULL of memories.  This month, we are celebrating those memories with our Postcard Perfect collection.

There was so much pleasure to be had while creating with the Postcard Perfect Paper Pack, Coordinating Cardstock, and Stamp Set .  I personally enjoyed using them so much that I created THREE layouts – each with enough photos for you to show-off your summer adventure memories.

PostcardPerfect_TruelyPostcardPerfectLayout

On this first layout, I took advantage of the awesome images that are included in the Postcard Perfect paper packet.  The cut-apart page is full of summery, vacation worthy images that you can use on your layouts. I love how many photos I was able to incorporate into this layout. Can’t you just picture a breathtaking tropical get-away?

PostcardPerfect_Chill&RelaxtLayout

On this second layout, I planned on adding some colorful layouts of my kids in the pool, so I kept the background pretty simple. Most poolside photos contain lots of color, and I wanted to make sure they stood out on this layout. Once again, I took advantage of the cut-apart images as well as the spectacular patterned vellum that is included in the paper packet.

PostcardPerfect_FamilyVacationLayout

This final layout is one that you have already seen in a recent blog hop. I wanted to take advantage of the incredible images on the Postcard Perfect stamp set.  I was able to create a fun title, some accents, embellishments, and a place for journalling.  I love how this layout could be used for just about any type of family vacation.

I have enjoyed this collection so much that I am giving away a FREE Workshop Guide for these three layouts to anyone who purchases any of the Postcard Perfect products from my website or attends my workshops AND I will be holding a drawing for one Free Workshop Guide for anyone who comments on this post on my Facebook or Instagram page. (You will receive one entry per comment.)

Classic Summer Layout

Have you ever tried using a PageMaps sketch as inspiration for your layouts? This year, to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day,  Scrapbook & Cards Today challenged it’s readers to create a layout using this NSD PageMaps Sketch.  As you know, I always love a challenge.

I also like to inspire you to use stamped images to enhance your scrapbook pages, so for this “Fresh Summer Lemonade” layout I chose to use both the Postcard Perfect and the Classic Summer Bash stamp sets.  This layout reminded me of the days when my children would set up a lemonade stand for the neighborhood.  I am not sure if the lemonade was very tasty, but everyone was always a good sport and supported their efforts.

FreshSummerLemonadeLayout.jpg

You can find the complete list of supplies used at the very bottom of this post.

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ Bashful Cardstock, 12″ x 12″ Dotted Vellum (Postcard Perfect), 10″ x 7″ B&T Paper (Beautiful Friendship)

Techniques Used on This Layout:
1. To create the stitching around the page, I used a Ruler with our Piercing & Embossing Tool to create the holes, then used Pink thread for the border.
2. The “Jute Twine” was created by pulling apart the White Burlap Ribbon into individual threads.  Three of the threads were wrapped around the B&T paper. The three remaining threads were used to create the bow.
FreshSummerLemonadeLayout_Title
3. The Lemon & Flower border was created with images from the Postcard Perfect and the Classic Summer Bash stamp sets. After cutting out the images, they were placed onto the page using Thin 3D & 3D Foam Dots.
4. The “Tags” were stamped using Smoothie Ink.  I added the paper strip from a piece of the “True Story” PML card, punched a hole, and added threads of White Burlap Ribbon.
FreshSummerLemonadeLayout_Tags
5. The “Straw” was stamped using Pixie ink, then I re-stamped the rim of the “Jar” along the top, and added the “Straw” to the “Jar”.

These exclusive, summer-themed stamp sets and the Postcard Perfect products that I used on my layout are only available during the month of May.  You can purchase each of these by visiting the Promotions Tab on my website, but they are only available while supplies last so make sure you grab them before they are gone. I would love to see what you create using this sketch or these exclusive stamp sets.  Feel free to post your work on my Facebook page for all to see.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

My Weird Scrapbooking Life

In honor of National Scrapbooking Month, I have decided to try to post more scrapbook pages.  As I created this layout, I realized that I have some really weird scrapbook habits. So, in honor of a month dedicated to scrapbooking, I have decided to share my top ten habits of “weirdness” with you.  (Maybe you can ease my mind into believing that some of these habits aren’t so weird.)

SBWeirdnessLayout

WEIRD HABIT NUMBER ONE
I love scouring the internet for inspiration and challenges.  This week’s online search led me to two challenges.  I adore the Raspberry, Mink and Juniper combination for this week’s Color My Heart Dare, and I really wanted to challenge myself to use Vellum as instructed in the Heart2Heart Challenge(These challenges are so fun – this time I was blessed with the Diamond Award from Color My Heart Dare and the May Darling Award from Heart2Heart.)

WEIRD HABIT NUMBER TWO
I don’t glue everything down all at once.  In fact, I am known to have a huge pile of randomness that I have thrown onto the page, rearrange, THEN when I am finally satisfied – I snap a photo of it on my phone for reference. By taking a photo, I have something to refer to when my life calls me elsewhere or when my ever aging brain forgets where I placed that stamped rose.

WEIRD HABIT NUMBER THREE
I change my mind a lot.  Originally, I had placed the stamped vellum raspberry rose overlay on top of raspberry cardstock, but after looking at the fundamentals paper, I decided to go with white cardstock instead. Which leads me to weird habit four…

SBWeirdnessLayoutFlower

WEIRD HABIT NUMBER FOUR
I look at all the items I have chosen for additional inspiration.  The background paper has raspberry roses on white – I matched those with a heat embossed velum raspberry rose on top of white cardstock.  The Thin Cut Hearts have stitching which I matched by adding stitching to the page.

WEIRD HABIT NUMBER FIVE
I eat chocolate while scrapbooking and sometimes have to use a white pen to cover up the random chocolate stain on a layout.  My scrapbook desk holds two tins  – one with chocolate and one with dog treats. I don’t dare mix them up. 🙂

WEIRD HABIT NUMBER SIX
I save most of my scraps and Cricut® mistakes.  On this layout, the vellum roses were cut from scraps, the cardstock roses were cut from scraps, the leaves were stamped on scraps, and the title was a mistake made and used.  I even cut my little hearts from the raspberry roses I had intended on using.

SBWeirdnessLayoutTitle

WEIRD HABIT NUMBER SEVEN
I use a lot of foam tape. I need to by this stuff in 100 foot rolls.  I love the dimension that using both Thin 3D Foam Tape and 3D Foam Tape as well as our Foam Dots gives to a project.

WEIRD HABIT NUMBER EIGHT
I don’t post many layouts with photos.  In all honesty, I like to keep my family life private and protected.  Although, I do seem to have (and post) more pictures of my dog than my kids and her little attitude would prevent most people from taking her.

WEIRD HABIT NUMBER NINE
I like to use a variety of shapes, colors, and textures on my projects.  I have been learning quite a bit lately about color application and how to “match” tones and shades.  I love mixing lines with floral and scripts. I am careful to make sure that each has something to add to the layout and doesn’t take away from the photos.  I am also a big fan of texture.  It adds dimension and sophistication to a project, but a little can go a long way.

WEIRD HABIT NUMBER TEN
I make A TON of mistakes.  That white pen thing with the chocolate is just the tip of the iceberg. I have been known to leave a coffee ring on a project then cover it with a flower or clean a stamp and mist the ink all over the page – great opportunity to try my hand at splatter painting. I have been know to pull a piece of paper up only to tear it then just call it “added texture”.

So, maybe some of these aren’t so weird, but, to me and my little brain monsters, they seen awful strange some days.  I do hope that you take a little bit of time during National Scrapbooking Month to express your “weirdness” and breathe in the paper goodness of crafting.  Make sure to take the time to visit my website and see all that Close to My Heart is offering to celebrate a month dedicated to scrapbooking.  I can’t wait to see what you create!
