Welcome to the Cricut You Are Here Collection Blog Hop where we will be featuring our You Are Here Cricut Collection.  This cartridge is full of images representing life – daily activities, travel, parenthood, and family.  YouAreHereBadge If you have come here from Darlys Recker’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog.  This blog hop is designed to allow you to start here and work your way around. As I finished up my Christmas card list, I realized that I did not create enough cards, so I decided to make this Coffee Lovers Christmas card for my coffee loving friends. I created this in Cricut® Design Space using the Coffee to Go image from our You Are Here cartridge and have included a short tutorial for you to show you how to create the card base. As always, the list of supplies I used can be found at the very bottom of this post.

YouAreHereCoffeeCard.jpg

Cricut® Design Space Instructions:
1. After inserting the Coffee to Go – #M2845F0F image into your Canvas, RESIZE the image to 5.5″h.
2. UNGROUP the image so that you have two separate images in your Layers Panel, then DELETE the top layer. (I ROTATED the bottom layer 90′ to see it better.)
3. DUPLICATE your image, then FLIP HORIZONTAL.
FlipCupImage
4. Move the images until the “lids” touch completely, then SELECT ALL and WELD.
CupWeld5. Insert a SCORE LINE and RESIZE to 4″h. SELECT ALL and ALIGN CENTER.
CupScoreLine
6. To attach the Score Line to the image, SELECT ALL then choose ATTACH. (To check that it is attached, choose Make It and see if the score line is attached to the cup.)

I used the Contour and Slice options to create my additional layers, stamped a cute saying inside, and ended up with a pretty cute card.  You can continue through the blog hop and see more ideas from twenty other Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using the You Are Here Collection. and other great Close to My Heart products on their blogs.

Through the Year Calendar Tips

During the month of December, you can purchase our gorgeous Through the Year Calendar kit.  This kit would make the perfect gift to give to a grandparent, a new mom, or a friend filled full of photos or left blank for them to add their own.  When I opened my kit, I poured over the contents – a 12″ My Creations™ calendar, beautiful Basics Fundamentals, cardstock, and our Happy Moments Complements, Gold Glitter Gems, gold glitter  die cuts, and MORE.

CalendarKit

Close to My Heart added a wonderful set of instructions and a cutting guide to this kit, but there were a few things that I had to figure out on my own.  To make your calendar making adventure a little easier, I have created a “Tips and Tricks” guide full of some helpful pointers that will make the calendar assembly simple.  Some of these tips were gathered from other consultants, and others were ones I discovered on my own.

When you purchase a Through the Year Calendar Kit from my website, I will send you this “Tips and Tricks” guide FREE along with a few other helpful tips.  (Everyone will also receive a little happy mail from me).  You are also welcome to come to my Calendar Workshop on December 16th where I will provide stamps, inks, and assistance as you create your beautiful Through the Year Calendar.

I know you will love making and giving the Through the Year Calendar as much as I did. In fact, I am ordering a second kit to keep for myself. 🙂 I would love to see your calendar creations.  Feel free to post them onto Miss. Carrie’s Creations Facebook page for others to enjoy.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

December is Delightful

This time of year becomes busy for most of us.  We spend our days counting down until Christmas, reviewing all of our lists, and filling up our calendars, yet, we forget to take a time to relax.  This year, I encourage you to make December delightful by taking time to rest and create.  Start by making an amazing gift with the Through the Year Calendar Kit.

1712-cc-fb-cover

The Through the Year Calendar kit includes all of the supplies needed to create a beautiful calendar that you can use for yourself or give as a gift.  I love that this is a 12″ calendar because when the year is over, I plan on disassembling it and creating a delightful scrapbook full of the year’s memories.  On December 16th, I am offering a FREE Calendar workshop where you can come, spend some creative time with friends, and make this calendar.

I have two other workshops where you can come and enjoy some creative fun.  Learn Cricut® Design Space as you create a Wintry Scrapbook or create a sophisticated Family Layout and three Thank You cards.  Bring a friend to either workshop and receive a FREE Petite Perks Stamp set.

Don’t have time to come any of the December Workshops? You can still order the kits and sneak away for a little creative time to make any of the cards, scrapbook pages, or home decor projects that I have available in my online store. Make December even more delightful by giving yourself  an early Christmas gift of my Kit of the Month club. Treat yourself to a ready-to-assemble Scrapbook layout kit each month.

Not only can December be delightful, but Close to My Heart has made it “punny” with our A Little Bit of Pun stamp of the month.  Visit the “Promotions” tab on my website to learn how you can get this set for only $5.00. I will be posting ideas through the month using this stamp set, so make sure to “Follow” my blog, sign-up for emails, or visit often.

I hope that you take a little time to make December more delightful as you make something new.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Tuesday Tutorial ~ Paper Pumpkin Treats

This past month, I have been posting Flower Tutorials using images from our Cricut® Flower Market Cartridge.  I had originally planned on this week’s tutorial being the Poinsettia, but honestly, I am just not ready for Christmas yet.  I have always wanted to make these cute little pumpkins for the Thanksgiving table, so, this week,  I created this little Paper Pumpkin Treat in Design Space® using images from our Flower Market Cartridge.  I created this tutorial so that you can make these cute little Paper Pumpkin Treats for your Thanksgiving guests.  At the very bottom of this post, you can find a list of the supplies used on this project.

PaperPumpkinTreat.png
Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ Goldrush Cardstock, 12″ x 12″ Fern Cardstock, 12″ x 12″ Toffee Cardstock, 12″ x 12″ White Daisy Cardstock

Design Space® and Assembly Instructions:
1. Insert the Cherry Blossom Twig Wreath – #MD42136 into your Canvas.  DELETE the vine wreath image, then use CONTOUR to remove all but one of the leaves.
2. Turn the LEAF image so that it is upright (vertical) and RESIZE to 1.25″w x 3″h.
3. DUPLICATE the LEAF image five times (six leaves) and position the leaves into a “flower” shape.
Pumpkin_LeafArrangment
4.  Insert a CIRCLE shape and RESIZE to 1.25″.  Place the Circle into the center of the Leaves, then select WELD.

5. Insert a CIRCLE shape and RESIZE to 0.4″, then DUPLICATE the Circle five times (six circles).  Place each Circle onto the tip of each Leaf, then SELECT ALL and WELD.

6. To create the Stem, insert the Holly – #MFAE002 image into your Canvas, DELETE the Berries, then use CONTOUR to remove all the images except the “Fringe”.  The leaf was created from the Maple Leaf – #MD6F565 image, then RESIZED to 2″.
Pumpkin_Stem
NOTE: The Pumpkin itself is about 2″ tall. If you would like to make larger Pumpkins, you can resize all of the images before cutting.

7. To assemble the Paper Pumpkin, place glue onto a small circle at the tip of one of the Leaf shapes, then attach that circle to the circle on the Leaf shape next to it.  Continue around. (If you plan on putting candy in the center, add it before assembling the Pumpkin.)
Pumpkin_Assembly
8. To create the Stem, use a Quilling Tool to roll up the “Fringe” image, then glue the end closed.  Attach the Leaf to the top of the Pumpkin, then adhere the Stem to the top of the Pumpkin using Liquid Glass. Use the Quilling Tool curl the tips of the Stem.
Pumpkin_StemRolled

I created the tag using the “I am Grateful For You Jar” recipe from our Holiday Expressions catalog, and attached it to the stem with some White and Bronze Twine.  I hope that you take the time to create some of these cute Paper Pumpkin Treats for your Thanksgiving guests.  Please feel free to post what you have created on my Facebook page.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

BlessedBanner.jpg

As I decorate my home for Fall, I always enjoy finding new projects to create.  I saw this adorable fall banner online and had to recreate it using our Enchantment and Basic Fundamentals papers with my Cricut® machine.  If you wish to recreate this Blessed Banner for your home, I have included a list of supplies, Cricut® cuts, and a short tutorial below.

Cricut® Images Used:
Banner Page – #M4235A  (4.5″w x 6″h)
Square – #M423C5 (3.75″w x 3.25″w)
Square – #M423C5 (3.5″w x 3.0″w)
Maple Leaf – #MD6F565
Feather Leaf – #MD717F5
Oak Leaf – #MD6F5EF

Inserting text can be tricky in Design Space®, so I have included a quick tutorial to help you add text to your Blessed Banner.

Inserting and Ungrouping Text in Cricut® Design Space
1. After inserting all of your images into your Canvas, you will choose TEXT in the Design Panel, then type BLESSED in the text box.
2. When you insert text, the Text Edit Bar will drop down to allow you to choose the font you wish to use.  ALL shows all fonts available. SYSTEM shows fonts that on on your computer.  CRICUT shows fonts that are just Cricut® fonts.
3. Use your FILTER to narrow the choices down even more. MY FONTS are ones you own. MULTI-LAYER are layered while SINGLE-LAYER are not. WRITING fonts are for writing. You can choose more then one of these filter options.

TextEditBar_Fonts

4. Once you have chosen an FONT, you can change the STYLE if you wish.
5. With your TEXT selected, choose ADVANCED then choose UNGROUP TO LETTERS. You will notice that in your Layers Panel, each letter is now it’s own layer. This will allow you to move each letter individually to the banner pieces.
LayersPanel_Text

6. Move each letter and resize as needed.  You can UNLOCK to resize the width and height separately, or keep it locked to make sure that the letter sizes proportionately.
Text_ArrangeonBanner

7. You can still change the font, color, and style after you have UNGROUPED the text.  You will have to change each one individually if you change your mind, or UNDO to REGROUP the text and choose the font again.

Color Dare Card – Falling For You

I adore fall colors! I love their warmth and softness, so, of course, when I saw the Falling For You products, I knew they were a MUST have.  This week’s Color My Heart Dare challenge required to use of the Falling For You paper colors along with Saffron, Goldrush, and Fern plus one additional neutral color.  I chose to make this simple Thank You card along with two others using the Falling for You papers and stamp set.

FallingForYouThankYou_CardA

On this card, I used the Falling for You patterned paper with Espresso cardstock for the card base. The leaves were stamped with Fern and Goldrush ink, then cut out using the matching Thin Cuts. (LOVE THIS SET!)   I used the lighter side of the Saffron cardstock to stamp the sentiment.  I enjoyed this paper and stamp set so much that I made two other cards, duplicated them, and was able to make nine cards from one sheet of Falling For You paper.  (A few of them were Pinterest inspired.) Now I have a stock of Thank You cards to send to my wonderful customers. 🙂

FreeFallingForYouCardFile.jpg

Don’t you just love these cards?  I am giving away this three card guide FREE to anyone who places and order on my website during the month of November. This guide will show you how to recreate all of these cards three times from one sheet of Falling For You paper.  That’s NINE CARDS that you can use yourself or give as a gift to a teacher or friend.

As always, I have listed the products used on these cards at that bottom of this post.  I hope you enjoy these Falling For You products as much as I do.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Through the Year SOTM Blog Hop

Welcome to the Through the Year  Stamp of the Month Blog Hop where we will be featuring the November Through the Year stamp set. NovSOTMBadge This stamp set is perfect for planner addicts and paper crafters.   If you have come here from Tracie Cassidy’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog.  This blog hop is designed to allow you to start here and work your way around. It’s simple, fun, and full of ideas using the Through the Year stamp set.

If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog: http://ifyoublingit.blogspot.com/p/stamp-of-month-blog-hop-list.html.

During the month of November, I will be creating weekly projects using the Through the Year stamp set so make sure to visit often. This week, I have created a Christmas Gift Card Holder that I  designed in Cricut® Design Space.

GiftCard_FrontBack

If you have visited my blog in the past, you have noticed that I often take projects like this and design them to cut out on my Cricut®.  This allows me to re-use the project at a later date without needing to figure out the measurements, cuts, and score lines again.  Below, you will find a short tutorial of how I went about creating this Christmas Gift Card Holder in Design Space®.  As always, I’ve included a list of the products used to create this project at the very bottom of this post.

GiftCard_Inside

Paper Needed: 10″ x 5″ New England Ivy Cardstock, 2½” x 4″ B&T Paper (Beary Christmas), 2″ x 4″ B&T Paper (Beary Christmas), (2) ¾” x 4″ B&T Paper (Beary Christmas), (2) ¼” x 4″ Silver Foil Paper

Design Space Instructions:
1. Insert a SQUARE shape into your Canvas and resize the shape to 9″ x 4″.
2. I wanted a fancier edge so I WELDED a decorative square onto the end of my rectangle.  This is what my Canvas looked like before Welding.
GiftCard_Square
3. Once Welded, I resized the image to 9.625″ x 4″.  (The original size of the project was 4″ x 9 5⁄8″ so I converted it to decimals.)
4. Inserting Score Lines and Cut Lines can be tricky so it’s best to first place your image onto the 1″ x-axis and 1″ y-axis.  This will help you to place score lines perfectly.
GiftCard_Position
5. Insert four Score Lines and resize each one to 4″.  If you were doing this by hand, you would score at 1¾”, 4½” , 5¾”, 7″.  Since we have placed the image on the 1″ x-axis, we need to move our Score Lines to 2¾”, 5½” , 6¾”, 8″. You can do this by typing the numbers into the x-axis position box. The y-axis position box will be 1″ for each one.
GiftCard_ScoreLine6. Insert a Circle shape, unlock, and resize to 1″ x 1.75″. Center the Oval over the 6¾” Score Line, using Align Vertical as needed. If you wanted you could SLICE the Oval from the image and DELETE the unwanted images, but this is not needed since it will cut it out either way.
GiftCard_Oval7. Insert another Score Line and resize to 3.5″. Change the Score Line to a Cut Line in the Layers Panel.  Place the Cut Line at 1.25″ x-axis and 6.75 y-axis. (Centered over the Oval.)
GiftCard_CutLine
8. SELECT ALL and ATTACH so that all the Score Lines and Cut Line attach to the image.

The gift card holder was decorated using the Beary Christmas paper pack, Silver Foil Paper, and, of course, our Through the Year Stamp of the Month. You can continue through the blog hop and see more ideas from over twenty other Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month’s Through the Year stamp set and other great Close to My Heart products on their blogs.
