Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Our family has a tradition of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day every year with food, family, and friends.  I am sending you a little bit of Irish blessings today.  May the dreams you hold dearest be those which come true, and the kindness you spread keep returning to you.

Today, I created a simple Irish blessings card.  You can make one of these using your own stamp set, or like I did, use the Cricut machine to write for you. At the very bottom of this post, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this card.

IrishBlessingsCard

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” Flaxen Cardstock,  5¼” x 4″ B&T Hello Lovely Paper, 5″ x 3″ New England Ivy Cardstock, 4¾” x 2¾” Fern Cardstock, 4½”” x 2½” White Daisy Cardstock

Techniques used while creating this project:

  • The border on the White Daisy cardstock was created by welding the Artbooking Wave Border onto a rectangle in Cricut Design Space.  You could create the same effect using a border punch.
  • The Irish saying was created by combining writing fonts from the Close to My Hear Cricut Artistry and Flower Market Cricut cartridges. I created the text in Design Space, changed it to a writing style, then attached it to the White Daisy cardstock to create the quote.

Irish Blessings Treat Box

Having a small bit of Irish blood (from my grandmother) is something I am proud of and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day is almost as fun as celebrating Christmas.  I made this little treat box for this week’s Color My Heart Dare and plan to make more to give to family and friends this week.   At the very bottom of this post, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this project.

IrishTreatBox.jpg
Paper Needed: (2)2¾”  x 2¾” B&T Paper (I used Hello Lovely), (2)2¾” x 1″ B&T (I used Hello Lovely), 3″ x 3″ Cardstock (I used New England Ivy), 3″ x 3″ Cardstock (I used Fern), 2¾”  x 2¾” Cardstock (I used Fern), 2¾”  x 2¾” Gold Glitter Paper, 2″ x 2″ White Daisy Cardstock

Techniques used while creating this project:

  • Our retired Art Philosophy cartridge has this box you can cut out to make this project. I found a package of these five-inch boxes at my local dollar store, so I choose to buy them to save a little time. My measurements are based on the box I purchased.
  • The Clover was cut from our Flower Market Cricut cartridge at 2¾” high. I cut the background out of New England Ivy Cardstock, and the leaves out of Fern Cardstock. The leaves were bent in half then adhered to the background using Liquid Glass. NOTE: The gem I used in the center of the Clovers has been retired.
  • The Scalloped Circle is cut at 2¾” from Fern cardstock, then backed with a 2¾” Gold Glitter background layer to give the appearance of gold gems around the circle.
  • The Circle was cut at 1¾” from White Daisy cardstock.  I used the writing feature on my Cricut machine with Kunstler Script to create the sentiment.  You could also use a stamped images.

Valentine’s Day is a few weeks away, and it’s time to start creating. Over the next few weeks, I will be posting some quick and easy gifts you can make for your family, friends, and co-workers. This Valentine Chocolates Box  idea came from Splitcoaststampers and it is a fun project to make for Valentine’s Day. (These would also make cute wedding favors.) At the very bottom of this post, I’ve included a list of the products I’ve used to create this project.

10. Using the Thin Cuts, cut out one Wavy Banner and a Heart from the 2″ x 4″ White Daisy Cardstock.
11. Using Sea Glass Ink, stamp the Dotted Heart image onto the Heart cut-out. .Using Black ink, stamp the smaller Heart Outline image inside the Dotted Heart.
12. Using Black Ink, stamp the Banner image and sentiment onto the White Daisy Cardstock. (Note: Bend the sentiment to the shape of the banner before applying ink.)
13. Adhere the Banner to the bottom of the box front.

Valentine Matchbook Treat

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Over the next few weeks, I will be posting some quick and easy gifts you can make for your family, friends, and co-workers.  With just a few supplies, you can make FIVE of these Valentine Matchbooks. A bag of candy can be placed inside using our Mini-Stapler to give as a sweet treat. At the very bottom of this post, I’ve included a list of the products I’ve used to create this project.

valentinematchbook

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ Cardstock (I used Desert Sand), (5) 2¾” x 3¼” B&T Paper (I used Hello Lovely), (5) 3″ x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock

Assembly Instructions:
1. Cut the 12″ x 12″ cardstock at 8½”. Turn the cardstock 90′ and cut FOUR 3″ x 8½” strips. Take the 3½” x 12″ strip from your first cut and trim it to 3″ x 8½”. You will have FIVE 3″ x 8½” pieces of cardstock.
2. Place a 3″ x 8½” of cardstock horizontally on a trimmer. Using the scoring blade on the trimmer, score the cardstock at ¾”, 4½” and 5″. Repeatvalentinematchbook_sideview with each piece of cardstock.
3. Fold up on each of the scorelines to create the “matchbook”.
4. Adhere the 2¾” x 3¼” B&T Papers to the front of each matchbook.
5. Wrap a piece of ribbon around the front of each matchbook  1″ from the bottom. Tie a knot and secure in place with Glue Dots.
6. Using Black Memento Ink, stamp five Floral Heart images onto the White Daisy cardstock. Using ShinHan Markers, color the flowers on the images. If desired, use a Gold Shimmer Brush to add glitter to the center of the heart.
7. Using Black Memento Ink, stamp the sentiment onto the center of each heart. Cut out the Floral Heart images.
8. Adhere the Floral Heart image to the matchbook front.
9. Staple the treat to the bottom ½” flap. This creates the closure for the matchbook.
10. Add a sentiment to the inside flap of the matchbook if you desire.
