Hearts & Clovers

In case you were not aware, St. Patrick’s Day is coming. ūüôā¬† This week for my Die-Namite Blog Hop project, I created a charming card using our Basic Hearts Thin Cuts to create a four-leave clover.¬† I had so much fun making the card for the blog hop, that I decided to create a few more cards for St. Patrick’s Day using our Thin Cuts and patterned papers.¬† You can find a complete list of the supplies I used on these cards at that very bottom of this post.

On each of these cards, I used our Basic Hearts Thin Cuts to make the clovers.¬† These Heart dies come in four sizes – 2¬Ĺ”, 2″, 1¬Ĺ”, and 1″.¬† During our Die-namite sale, you can purchase just the Basic Heart Thin Cuts set for only $9.71 or¬†¬†purchase the Basic Shapes Thin Cut Bundle which includes not only the Basic Hearts, but the Basic Ovals, Basic Stars, and Basic Circles sets at an AMAZING SAVINGS.

Both of these cards were super-simple to make.¬† The Lucky Clover card was created using papers from the Chelsea Gardens collection withthe¬†1¬Ĺ” and 1″ Basic Heart Thin Cuts, then the “Lucky” Artbooking sentiment was cut from Gold Foil Paper and added to the card along with Gold Shimmer, Gold Ribbon, and Gold Gems.¬† To create the second card, I used a sentiment from the Gimme Some Sugar complements which looked like something an Irish grandma might say to her grandchildren.¬† The 1¬Ĺ” and 1″ Basic Hearts were cut from matching patterned papers and formed into the clover shape.

Don’t forget that during the month of March, our Basic Hearts Thin cuts are available at a considerable discount.¬† Our Die-Namite sale is defiantly one that you will want to take advantage of to stock up on our Thin Cuts dies, bundles, and stamp + thin cut sets.¬† ¬†Unfortunately, they will only be on sale through March 31st, while supplies last,¬†so make sure you visit my website and order your Thin Cuts before they are gone for good.

I can’t wait to see what you create with our Thin Cuts!

Love Letter Tips & Tricks

This month’s Love Letter’s Kit is a wonderfully designed kit that includes a¬†sturdy chipboard letter base, rose gold accents, die-cut floral embellishments, and letter stickers for customizing.¬† For this week’s Tuesday Tutorial, I wanted to show you a few ideas for displaying your Love Letter, as well as a few tips and tricks for creating.

I simply adore it the Welcome Sign I designed for my craft room door. I was able to attach the chipboard letter to a frame my husband created and added few of the paper flowers from the kit that would match the decor in my craft room. The “established” wedding gift uses a shadow box, Love Letter Kit, and some vinyl for a simple, yet elegant home decoration.¬† Since I was unsure of the couples future decor, I choose to use the grey flowers and the succulents from the kit to decorate the sign.

Both of these projects were simple to create and are a great way to display the Love Letter kit. You can choose to hang your Love Letter kit as is or add it to a frame or shadow box.  There is an awesome Facebook page that you can visit full of display ideas.

I am excited by the fact that this kit comes with more flowers, succulents, and letters than you could possibly need. I used the leftovers to create these cute little pots of flowers.  You can use those leftovers on cards, scrapbook pages and more. Close to My Heart posted some great ideas for those leftovers this past week.

These amazing Love Letter kits can also be used together to spell out a whole name or word, which is why if you buy five letter kits, you can choose a sixth kit FREE!  When your Love Letter Kit(s) arrives, here are a few tips and tricks that will help you as you assemble your artwork:

  • Each kit comes with a simple set of instructions to follow.¬† You can also view the amazing video Close to My Heart has created showing how to assemble the kit.
  • The paper is best adhered down to the chipboard with a tape runner or a thin layer of glue that covers the entire chipboard letter.¬† This will prevent any “glue-lines” from showing through the decorative paper.
  • You can choose to add stamped images or additional patterned paper to your letter design.¬† On my Welcome Sign, I chose to randomly stamp grey dragonflies onto the white portion of the letter to give it a more individualized look.
  • If you want to change the color of the flowers, you can sponge them with ink, paint them with watercolors, or add glitter like I did with our Shimmer Brushes.
  • Use a sponge dauber to ink the edges of each petal and add even more dimension.¬† You can use a matching ink or use a grey or brown ink for a rustic/vintage feel.
  • To make the flowers even more three dimensional, use a 3D Foam Dot between every other layer of petals/leaves.
  • Our¬†quilling tool is a must have for this project.¬† This will help to create the bent flower petals, rolled succulent centers, and curled leaf tips.
  • Use some of your left-over embellishments for the flower centers. I used Black and White Dots on the centers of my flowers. (I glued on my embellishments.) The heart on the wedding gift came from some of my left-over Chelsea Gardens Complements.
  • Make sure to use a good adhesive so that your creation does not come apart while on display.¬† I used both liquid adhesive and hot glue on my projects.
  • This kit comes with three banners and plenty of letters for you to use.¬† I found it best to begin in the center of the word(s), and using our tweezers (extremely helpful), add the letters to slowly¬† working my way out from the middle.¬† I used foam tape under my banners to give them more dimension.

You are only limited by your imagination on this project.  Our Love Letters kits are worth purchasing for yourself or to give as a gift, but they are only available while supplies last until January 31st.  You can also receive your choice of letter kit free by hosting a qualifying party in January or by signing up to be a Consultant!

Make sure to visit the promotions tab on my website to order your Love Letters kits before the are gone.¬† I can’t wait to see what you create!

From the Heart Color Dare Card

It has been almost a month since I last entered the Color My Heart Dare Challenge. ¬†My life was a bit chaotic, so, unfortunately, crafting was not a priority. ¬†I do love the fact that Close to My Heart allows me, as a consultant, to set my own hours so that when “life” changes, I can still have my family be my priority without worry.

This week, I used the From the Heart stamp set to create a card using Willow, Raspberry, Bashful, Charcoal and White Daisy for the Color My Heart Dare challenge.  I love that Close to My Heart has such beautiful products that we can use to make cards like this with very little time or effort.  This stamp set is available during the month of September for  $29.95 OR pay only $5.00 more and receive the From the Heart Kit to create twelve interactive cards using this stamp set.

Paper Needed:¬†5¬Ĺ”¬†x 4¬ľ” White Card Base, 5¬ľ” x 4″ Cardstock (Charcoal), 5″ x 3¬ĺ” Cardstock (White Daisy), 4″ x 1¬ĺ” Cardstock (Charcoal), 2¬ĺ” x 1¬Ĺ” Cardstock (White Daisy),¬†¬ĺ” x 1¬Ĺ” Cardstock (White Daisy)

Stamping Techniques:
Since the challenge only allowed two pinks and one green, I had to use these colors in multiple ways. ¬†For this card I used the “Second Generation Stamping” technique to add depth to my project.¬†What is Second Generation Stamping? Once a stamp is inked, you can achieve a second generation stamp by stamping the image first¬†onto your desk pad (or other scratch piece of paper) and then onto your cardstock.

‚ÄĘ The stem of the largest flower was stamped using Willow ink. ¬†I created the “Leaves” by using the Second Generation of Willow. It still allows the stem to show through while using the same color of ink.
‚ÄĘ The small cup shaped flowers were first stamped using the Second Generation of Raspberry Ink, then the detailed lines were added using Raspberry ink. Once again, I was able to use the same color, but the Second Generation technique allowed to details to show through.
‚ÄĘ The From the Heart stamp set has many choices for layered flowers, and you can use Second Generation stamping to create depth and get more use out of you inks. ¬†Below is a little “cheat sheet” I created to show you ways I stamped the larger flower using the Second Generation (2nd) stamping technique.

If you love Close to My Heart products as much as I do, and you want to be able to run your business your way, then joining my team is something I ask you to consider. September is the perfect month to join my team! Sign up as a New Consultant in September and you will receive the From the Heart card kit in your New Consultant Kit at no additional cost ‚ÄĒ that‚Äôs an extra $43.90 value, FREE!

Crafting is a Messy Business

I love my Close to My Heart crafting business. I enjoy¬†teaching new techniques, meeting new people, going to events, and the things I create. ¬†Each month, I create workshops that I teach to groups at individual homes and the local library. ¬†I create kits for selling at local crops and to long-distance paper crafters. I have fun¬†going to people homes and teaching people how to create with Close to My Heart products. ¬†I do all these things because I LOVE my business, but it can get MESSY. ¬†Rarely to I share anything personal, but this is what my space looks like while creating. ¬†Can you relate???? ūüôā

The OCD person in me is crawling as I look at it, but it is OH, SO WORTH IT!!   This glorious mess resulted in a Prickly Pear Workshop full of cards and layouts.  I love this small business where I can create such fun kits to share with each of you.   If paper crafting brings you as much joy as it brings me, I would love to talk to you about having a Card Making Party or becoming a Close to My Heart Consultant.   This business truly brings me joy! After all, just look at what this mess created.
