Through the Year Planner

Are you a planner? Do you enjoy finding new ways to spruce up your journal with your set of “planner supplies” that you use on a regular basis?  I am a HUGE planner.  I have both electronic and paper calendars, lists, and notebooks – all in hopes that I actually remember something and get there on time. 🙂 The older I get, the more I need them.  As I was playing with the concept of bullet journal planning, I found that our Through the Year stamp of the month was a perfect addition to my planning supplies.

Stamps

I am a little behind in my November planning, but I found that using this stamp set made my life a little simpler.  I love the font used to create each month, that the words fit perfectly on my pages, and that there are little icon stamps included I can use throughout the year.  Here are a few of the pages I have been working on for the month of November.  As always, I have put the list of supplies used at the very bottom of this post.

ThroughTheYear_MonthPlan.jpg

This month page came together so quickly.  I simply created the grid using a black journal pen, stamped the month and the icons, then started filling out the month.  As I said, I am little behind, and I am usually a weekly planner.

I always put more details on my weekly plan than I do my monthly plan.  The page below shows how I usually see my week.  I plan Monday through Saturday.  In our home, Sunday is for church and family so I have no “Plans” to keep.

ThroughTheYear_WeekPlan

This page was created by stamping the month at the top of the page, writing the dates, creating the weekly grid, and adding a few icon stamps for decoration.  My time is limited, and, I am not one to decorate my planner much,  so I love that I could add the little “Leaf” stamps to decorate my page a little.

I do have other pages in my planner for doodling, workshops, and goal planning.  I like to keep track  of goals in all areas of my life.  They help to remind me what the “focus” is and often keep me on track.

ThroughTheYear_Goals

My goals are always manageable, simple, and personal.  Sometimes I achieve them and sometimes I don’t, but they are always something to strive for.

Again, this page was simple to create and will be even more enjoyable to fill in.

These are only a few ways that I used our Through the Year stamp set, but it can be used in so many more ways in your planners and journals.   Your imagination is your only limit.

I would love to see how you use this stamp set in your planner or journal.  Feel free to visit my Facebook page and post your latest creation.  Remember, this Through the Year stamp set is only available during the month of November. Visit the PROMOTIONS tab on my website to learn how you can purchase this stamp set for only $5.00 this month.  I can’t wait to see what you create!!

Color Dare Card – Falling For You

I adore fall colors! I love their warmth and softness, so, of course, when I saw the Falling For You products, I knew they were a MUST have.  This week’s Color My Heart Dare challenge required to use of the Falling For You paper colors along with Saffron, Goldrush, and Fern plus one additional neutral color.  I chose to make this simple Thank You card along with two others using the Falling for You papers and stamp set.

FallingForYouThankYou_CardA

On this card, I used the Falling for You patterned paper with Espresso cardstock for the card base. The leaves were stamped with Fern and Goldrush ink, then cut out using the matching Thin Cuts. (LOVE THIS SET!)   I used the lighter side of the Saffron cardstock to stamp the sentiment.  I enjoyed this paper and stamp set so much that I made two other cards, duplicated them, and was able to make nine cards from one sheet of Falling For You paper.  (A few of them were Pinterest inspired.) Now I have a stock of Thank You cards to send to my wonderful customers. 🙂

FreeFallingForYouCardFile.jpg

Don’t you just love these cards?  I am giving away this three card guide FREE to anyone who places and order on my website during the month of November. This guide will show you how to recreate all of these cards three times from one sheet of Falling For You paper.  That’s NINE CARDS that you can use yourself or give as a gift to a teacher or friend.

As always, I have listed the products used on these cards at that bottom of this post.  I hope you enjoy these Falling For You products as much as I do.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Autumn Thank You Card

I am a fan of quick and simple cards – the ones I can throw together in under ten-minutes.   I like cards that appear elegant and classy, yet took minimal effort to make.  If you feel as I do, you will adore this autumn thank you card which uses simple images from our Feel So Blessed stamp of the month. This card is all about textures. Texture can add so much to a simple card and bring it to the next level.  I have included a few simple techniques you can use to create texture on any card. As always, the list of products I used can be found at the very bottom of this post.

AutumnThankYouCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Card Base, 4¾” x 4″ Tangerine Cardstock, 2″ x 6″ Fern Cardstock, 1½” x 1″ Espresso Cardstock, 1½” x 3¾”” Almond Cardstock

Techniques Used:
• Embossing Folders are a great way to add texture. I used the Rose Embossing Folder on the Tangerine cardstock, rounded the corners, and cut it into 1″ strips.
• Our Thin Cuts create a soft edges around each of the images. Since my Cricut® was packed away, I needed an alternative way to cut out the leaves. Our Falling For You Cardmaking Thin Cut worked perfectly for this task.  (Just because they came with the stamp set, doesn’t mean I always have to use them with the stamps.) After cutting three leaves from Fern cardstock, I used the Buffalo Plaid Embossing Folder to add “veins” to the leaves.
• Ribbon is another way to add texture to a project.  I used Burlap Ribbon to create a decorative knot  and attached it to the bundle of leaves.
• You can use ink to add more depth & texture.  I inked all of the edges with Toffee Ink before attaching them to the card.

Don’t forget that the Feel So Blessed stamp of the month is only available until September 30th.  Visit the “Promotions” tab on my website to learn how you can purchase this stamp set for only $5.00.

From the Heart Color Dare Card

It has been almost a month since I last entered the Color My Heart Dare Challenge.  My life was a bit chaotic, so, unfortunately, crafting was not a priority.  I do love the fact that Close to My Heart allows me, as a consultant, to set my own hours so that when “life” changes, I can still have my family be my priority without worry.

This week, I used the From the Heart stamp set to create a card using Willow, Raspberry, Bashful, Charcoal and White Daisy for the Color My Heart Dare challenge.  I love that Close to My Heart has such beautiful products that we can use to make cards like this with very little time or effort.  This stamp set is available during the month of September for  $29.95 OR pay only $5.00 more and receive the From the Heart Kit to create twelve interactive cards using this stamp set.

FromtheHeartColorDareCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Card Base, 5¼” x 4″ Cardstock (Charcoal), 5″ x 3¾” Cardstock (White Daisy), 4″ x 1¾” Cardstock (Charcoal), 2¾” x 1½” Cardstock (White Daisy), ¾” x 1½” Cardstock (White Daisy)

Stamping Techniques:
Since the challenge only allowed two pinks and one green, I had to use these colors in multiple ways.  For this card I used the “Second Generation Stamping” technique to add depth to my project. What is Second Generation Stamping? Once a stamp is inked, you can achieve a second generation stamp by stamping the image first onto your desk pad (or other scratch piece of paper) and then onto your cardstock.

• The stem of the largest flower was stamped using Willow ink.  I created the “Leaves” by using the Second Generation of Willow. It still allows the stem to show through while using the same color of ink.
• The small cup shaped flowers were first stamped using the Second Generation of Raspberry Ink, then the detailed lines were added using Raspberry ink. Once again, I was able to use the same color, but the Second Generation technique allowed to details to show through.
• The From the Heart stamp set has many choices for layered flowers, and you can use Second Generation stamping to create depth and get more use out of you inks.  Below is a little “cheat sheet” I created to show you ways I stamped the larger flower using the Second Generation (2nd) stamping technique.

Gratitude Treat Holders

I love giving gifts to my workshop and retreat attendees. It’s my way of saying “thank you” for taking the time to support me and my business.  This week, I have been working on creating some gifts my upcoming retreat that didn’t require too much time or money, and, since most of us are limited on both of these, I thought I would share what I created using our Feel So Blessed stamp set and Cats & Bats paper packet.

GreatfulTreat.jpg

You will notice that the paper I used looks a little different from the one shown in the Holiday Expressions catalog.  As a consultant, I have access to “bulk” papers which allows me to purchase a package of one paper design that I can use to make multiple projects.  Contact me at misscarriectmh@gmail.com for more information about how you can have access to these bulk packets.

Paper Needed: 6″ x 6″ B&T Paper (Cats & Bats), 3″ x 4″ Cardstock (Colonial White/Almond), 4″ x 4″ Pomegranate, 2″ x 3″ Saffron, 2″ x 3″ Fern

Assembly Instructions:
1. Place a strip of glue or double sided tape along one side of the 6″ x 6″ B&T paper.  Twist your paper until it resembles a cone shape and press in place to seal.
GreatfulTreat_Cone
2. Using the Your Are Here Cricut® cartridge cut out the “Tag” image and “Leaf” images.  (You can access my Cricut® Design Space file here, but you must own the cartridge to cut out the images.  You can purchase the Your Are Here Cricut® bundle on my website.)
3. Using Goldrush Ink, stamp the splattered background onto the tag.
4. Using Nutmeg Ink, stamp the “Thankful” sentiment onto the tag, then stamp the “Heart” image using Goldrush Ink.
5. Using Gold Ribbon, Gold Glitter Paper, or Gold Shimmer Trim, create a “Ribbon” at the top of the tag and staple in place using a Mini-Stapler.

6. Using the Buffalo Plaid and Leaf Embossing Folder, dry emboss the “Leaf” images.
7. Adhere all of the layers to the front of the cone using a strong adhesive.
8. Fill icing bags with the treat of your choice, tie a ribbon on the end, and trim as needed.  These fit perfectly inside of the cones.

Don’t forget that the Feel So Blessed stamp of the month is only available until September 30th.  Visit the “Promotions” tab on my website to learn how you can purchase this stamp set for only $5.00.

School Year Scrapbook Layout

Honestly, I am trying to catch up on my own scrapbooks.  My children are no longer in school, but I am working on recording their memories.  When I saw the School Year stamp of the month, I was excited to use it for this simple, clean layout.  It allowed me to make quick embellishments, have an organized journalling box, and assemble this layout in under 20 minutes.  Since I am so far behind, I will probably copy this layout multiple times using different patterned papers, add a child’s name as the title, and have a page for each of my kids albums completed. BONUS!

SchoolYearLayout.jpg

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ B&T Paper (Striped Peacock), 12″ x 12″ B&T Paper (Letters Peacock), 4″ x 4″ B&T Paper (Striped Pomegranate), 5½” x 7½” B&T Paper (Striped Saffron), 2¼” x 4½” B&T Paper (Striped Pomegranate), (3) 4″ x 6″ Cardstock (Saffron), 4″ x 4″ Cardstock (Saffron)

SchoolYearLayout_DetailOne
Since this layout is so simple to create, instead of instructions, I have included a layout guide for you to follow and a few detailed photos of the embellishments I created using the School Year stamp set.  As always, I have included a list of the products I used at the very bottom of this post.

The “Pencil” images were stamped using Black ink onto White Daisy cardstock, then shaded with Watercolor pencils. You could wrap this with twine, add some enamel gems, or change the colors to match your papers.

SchoolYearLayout_DetailTwo

This journal box image is perfect for recording those “first day” memories.  The image was stamped onto White Daisy cardstock using Black ink, then adhered to Peacock cardstock.  I added a knotted ribbon for an embellishment.  You could change this by adding enamel gems, star cuts, or stick around the edges.

All of my Workshop Guides include layout grids like this one below.  I include measurements, notations, and label the individual cuts to match with the cutting guide.

Don’t forget! The School Year stamp of the month is available through August 30th.  Visit the “Promotions” tab of my website to learn how you can get this stamp set for only $5.00.  I can’t wait to see what you create!
