Boutique Scrapbook Kits

Have you noticed that there are SIX, yes, six Boutique Scrapbooking Workshops Your Way® scrapbook pages in the Holiday Expressions catalog? You may have noticed the change, or you may have been confused by it, but either way, it is something to get excited about.  This is a recent change that Close to My Heart has made to a few of our Workshops Your Way® kits and I am THRILLED about the change.

When you look on pages 28 & 29 of the new catalog, you will see both Boutique Workshops Your Way® kits.  On the left is the “Classic” set of scrapbook pages that you can create when you purchase the Boutique Workshops Your Way® Scrapbook Kit.

Aren’t they beautiful? I just ♥adore♥ our Boutique products. There is absolutely nothing wrong with these three layouts. They reflect our Classic designs and are great for recording your memories, BUT sometimes we all want just a little bit more.  That is why in this season’s catalog, Close to My Heart has created three additional Deluxe Kits.

These Deluxe Workshops Your Way® kits use Texture Paste, Stencils, and that glorious new Sugar Plum Shimmer Brush to add a slash of texture and shimmer to your pages. Depending on your style of scrapbooking, you can create the Classic, the Deluxe, or both sets of scrapbook pages to showcase your photos.

Each set of pages, Classic & Deluxe, do require a full Boutique Workshops Your Way® kit, so you will need to purchase two kits  if you are going to create all six pages.  Close to My Heart has made it easier for you to create the Deluxe pages by giving you a 10% discount on the Boutique Deluxe Bundle. This bundle contains everything you need to add amazing texture to enhance your pages with plenty left over for more projects.

I am so excited by the addition of the Deluxe kits and I know you will be, too.  If you are one who likes to add a little more punch to your pages, then these Deluxe Kits are designed for you, but if you prefer the more Classic look, then you aren’t left out. Close to My Heart has three amazingly designed pages just for you.  Which one will you choose? I can’t wait to see what you create!

Creating a Stencil in Design Space

This month, Close to My Heart is celebrating National Stamping Month with breathtaking Memories in the Making products. You can use these Cut-Above Kits to create an adorable scrapbook album or use in conjunction with our My Creations Calendar to create a delightful gift anyone would cherish. Of course, I couldn’t just create a simple calendar, I had to play with our NEW Texture Paste products and add a little pizzazz to this kit.

I just adore playing with Texture Paste, but it does involve creating a few Stencils in Design Space™. Today, I am going to show you how I created one of the stencils for this kit in Cricut Design Space™.  (FYI: Those who purchase this kit from me, and take the online Memories in the Making with Texture Paste class, will be receiving the Memories in the Making Stencil Design Space File™ FREE from me this month.)

Begin by INSERTING your image into the Canvas. Today, I am going to create the Snowflake stencil, so we will insert the Snowflake – #M27F834A from the You Are Here Collection.

I have decided that I want to Snowflake to be 3″ high, so I type 3″ in the HEIGHT box. I am also going to insert a 4″ Square into my Canvas.  This will be a base for my stencil and will need to be a little larger than the Snowflake so that I have room to hold the stencil in place.

Bring the Snowflake to the front using Arrange-Move to Front, then SELECT ALL and ALIGN CENTER.  The Snowflake will be perfectly centered onto the Square.

Select all and choose SLICE. Delete all the unneeded Snowflake images. If you look at the “Stencil” you will see that you still have those little diamonds in the center. These are useless for the Stencil and will need to be removed.

Select your Stencil and choose CONTOUR. Select each of the little diamonds and as they turn grey, they will disappear from your stencil.

Click the X at the top, and you now have your Stencil. When you MAKE IT, you will have to choose “Custom” on your Machine, then choose “Plastic Stencil” in the Custom Materials.  I chose “More Pressure” for mine, but you may not need to.

Now that you know how to create a Stencil in Design Space™, you are ready to play with Texture Paste.  I will be showing how to use Texture Paste on our Memories in the Making Kits in my Online Class on September 25th. You will need to be a member of my VIP group* to join and you will need to have ordered this kit from my website before September 25th to participate. I hope you can join my online class and I can’t wait to see what you create!

* This VIP group has been designed for my customers and HeARTfully Blessed Creations Team. If you are a consultant not on my team, I ask that you not request to join this group unless you plan on purchasing from my website or paying for my online classes.  (I don’t want to be in violation of CTMH rules.)

Fall Moments

It is finally starting to look like Fall around here! I just returned from my annual Fall Crafting Retreat that I host each year, and noticed and many of the leaves are starting to turn, the weather is cooling, and I am ready for some pumpkin bread.  To get you in the “mood” for fall,  I showing you one of pages I created for this year’s Extravaganza using a few of our amazing new products from the Holiday Expressions.

The first thing you might notice is that gorgeous paper pattern.  Did you know that the Saffron paper comes from our Boutique collection?

Isn’t it just beautiful? I also chose to use Boutique Complements to add a few additional details to the layout. I just love that saying “Live for moments you can’t put into words”. This truly describes how we were feeling as we peered at the spectacular fall shades of trees and bushes against the cool waters of the Rocky Mountains.

As you can see I used those little “Washi” sticker strips and the Boutique Cardmaking Stamp Set to add a few more details onto the layout.

Don’t you just love those little sticker strips? I have used them for quite a few accents on my cards and layouts, along with our new Thin Cuts. We have TWO new sets for you this season that you will ♥LOVE♥.

I am adoring all the new TAGS we have available for you in the Fancy Tags Thin Cuts Bundle. On my layout, I chose to cut one in half and use it as an accent. The stitching on the Circle matched perfectly with the stitching that I created with the Decorative Borders Thin Cuts Bundle on other parts of the layout.

You can view all of these new products along with many others on my website. When you place an order during the month of September, you will receive a FREE Holiday Expressions with your order. It’s defiantly something you want to get your hands on – just keep some tissue near by to catch all the drool. 😉 I can’t wait to see what you create with all these amazing new products!

Memories In the Making

During the month of September, we have a gorgeous Memories in the Making collection that you can use to create a beautiful, handmade calendar and/or scrapbook pages.  Each of the Memories in the Making Cut Above™ kits come pre-cut and ready to assemble. All you need is adhesive. How awesome is that!?

I personally love the fact that these calendars are designed to be 12″ x 12″ so that once the year is done, I can create an entire album full of memories.  Don’t need a calendar? You can purchase just the Cut Above™ Memories in the Making Kits and create some amazing scrapbook pages.

Here is a quick run-down of ALL of the products that will be included in this special:

I will be posting my own personal calendar pages from this kit using additional products from our New Holiday Expressions. Make sure to visit each week to see what I have added to each of my own personal pages. (There might even be a freebie or two.) I can’t wait to see what you create!

Boutique Scrapbook Workshop

Each month I create kits and guides using our delightful paper packs, and since next month’s paper pack has not yet been revealed, I am giving you just a few sneak peeks of my scrapbook kits and guides for the month of September.

My Boutique Creative Club Scrapbook Workshop uses our New Boutique papers from the Holiday Expressions catalog to create three layouts.  The Boutique paper pack is full of texture and color, making it one that was a joy to create with. I am beyond excited about how each of these pages turned out. Each one is unique to the paper used, and are designed to display your photos and memories beautifully.

You can purchase these layout kits individually in my online store, or come one one of my Crafternoons and purchase any of my kits to create with me and a few friends.  Each scrapbook kit comes pre-cut and includes all the supplies needed to create each layout. All you need are photos, adhesive, scissors, and a journaling pen.

Creating a Larger Border in Design Space

A few weeks back, I was able to give a quick tutorial on Creating a Border in Cricut Design Space™.  I did have a few people comment that, although it was a wonderful tutorial, it did not show how to create a larger border for a page. So, for this week’s Tuesday Tutorial, I am going to walk you through creating a border that can go across the length of your scrapbook layout.

Many of our Cricut Collections are full of amazing borders like the Wave Border that I am using for this project. (I especially enjoy the borders in our Artbooking and Artistry  collections.)   I am going to begin by inserting the Wave Border(#M46FC2) I chose from our Artbooking Collection into my Canvas.

I want this Wave Border to be .75″ high x 12″ wide so that it will go across the full length of my page. Watch what happens if I unlock the image and resize it to .75″ x 12″.

It becomes distorted and warped – Not something I want to put on my page. Instead, I am going to change the height to .75″ without unlocking the image. By keeping the image “locked” it will stay proportionate.

The image is only 5.455″ wide, which is too small for my 12″ scrapbook page, so I am going to Duplicate the image THREE times to begin making the Border larger.

Depending on the Border you are using, you can either overlap one of the repeating designs or line up the ends side-by-side. Some Borders have a more finished look if you overlap. (TIP: Use ALIGN to make sure it it aligned at the top or bottom.)

I decided that with this Wave Border the side-by-side looked just fine, so I select both images and chose WELD. Now you can see that the image is one complete image, but it is short of the 12″ I need to make it across the page.

Now, here is where we get a little technical.  If you have worked with an Explore Machine in Design Space™ in the past, you know that you cannot cut an image that is larger than 11.5″ unless you plan on manipulating your paper on a mat or using a larger mat.  I am not going to teach you how to do either of these today, I am just going to show you how to work with the allotted 11.5″ you are given.

Remember that third Wave Border you created?  Since our current Border is already 10.899″, I am only going to need about 2″ of this additional Border. Just like in the previous Tutorial, I am going to slice out the portion I need using a Square Shape.

I FLIP my sliced image (for a more finished look), and I have the two pieces I need to create a 12″ Border. Make sure to check that your Border is still 12″ with the additional piece. You may have to “assemble” the Border on your Canvas, then Group the images to see the finished length.  If the finished length is over 12″, you can Resize the images as a group to the finished size needed.

When you add the cut images to your scrapbook page, they will overlap, but as you can see on this layout I created, the overlap is hardly noticeable.

Like I said, you could create one large image and manipulate your paper or use a larger mat, but I have found the overlapping of the image turns out just fine. I hope you take the time this week to play in Design Space™ and create a few scrapbook page borders.  I can’t wait to see what you create.

If you have been debating about upgrading your Cricut® so that you can play along in Design Space™, you can save up to 50% this week when you purchase any of the Explore Bundles.

You’ve Got Class Blog Hop

Welcome to the You’ve Got Class Blog Hop where we will be featuring products from the You’ve Got Class 39521996_10217478329729317_3142872847475539968_n.jpgcollection which features unique papers, exclusive stamp set, and workshop kit all designed preserve the best of your child’s school years.  If you have come here from Katy Taylor’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog.

As I put together the You’ve Got Class school album kit, I realized that there was a possibility that I “might” have a few more photos than the album allowed room for.  As a mother of many, I have found myself incredibly behind with my memory keeping, so pocket scrapbooking has become an accepted way to catch-up. That is why I decided to create some matching You’ve Got Class Pocket Cards that can be used in conjunction with the You’ve Got Class kit.

Once I complete the album, I had PLENTY of paper and cardstock leftover making it easy to create some additions to my album. These You’ve Got Class Pocket Cards are designed to work in conjunction with our pocket Memory Protectors.

I began by cutting some of the papers and cardstock remnants into 3″x 4″ and 4″ x 6″ sizes. I knew I wouldn’t need many since most of my “pockets” would be filled with photos.  Once I had a pile of “bases”, my creative brain took off using the paper scraps along with the You’ve Got Class and School Kits stamp sets to create some adorable additions to my album.

Aren’t they just the cutest? I plan on showing my School Album Workshop attendees how to create these at my next class.  Our You’ve Got Class workshop contains enough materials that you can use to create 14 single page scrapbook layouts with enough left over for more pages or pocket cards.

You can continue through the blog hop and see more ideas from a few other Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using the You’ve Got Class collection and other great Close to My Heart products on their blogs.

Now ‘Hop” on over to Darlys Recker’s blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their blogs to get some great crafting tips and other fun ideas. Remember, the You’ve Got Class products and stamp sets are only available until September 30th! Contact your CTMH Consultant, or visit the Promotions tab of my website to see all of the products available in this kit.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Craftiness Documented

As many of you know, we have been in the process of a full home renovation which includes moving fifteen years worth of crafty goodness into a new space.  I have slowly been documenting this adventure through photos and plan on using this layout below as a way of displaying these memories.

The patterns of our Documented Paper Packet fit my crafty area well.  My new space is full of found items of metal, wood, and wire, so the distressed doors and brick patterns will complement my photos.   The images and sentiments from our For the Love of Crafting stamp set was used to explain my craftiness to a tee and that “If you can’t stand the mess” is my current attitude.  If you could only see the of paper, cardstock, old product, new product, and the “why did I keep this” piles that are currently invading the old and new spaces right now, my friends.

If you look closely at this layout, you will see that I added some embellishments from Documented Complements. The complements were originally Kraft colored, but I wanted them to be black to match the wire and pipes in my new space, so I shaded them. This is a simple way to make our Complements fit your project. Our markers, shimmer brushes, and watercolors can be easily used to change an embellishment to fit your needs.

My new craft area is still in process and full of mess, so the photos I have taken for this layout have not been printed nor organized.  In fact, my own personal scrapbooking has taken a backseat until I have an organized space to craft. My goal is to have it completed by Christmas and then you will be able to see my beautiful, crazy,  work space.

Both the Documented products and the For the Love to Crafting stamp set are only available for another week.  If these are items you have had on your wishlist, make sure that you go to my website and grab them before they are gone for good.  You can visit the GOING SOON section and see all of the items that are (sadly) retiring on August 31st. I would hate for you to miss out on those papers, cardstock, or stamps you have been wanting. I can’t wait to see what you create!

September Kit of the Month

This week, you are getting a little sneak peek of a few of our upcoming products that are being showcased in my September Kit of the Month.  Each month, I design a kit for my Kit of the Month subscribers that is easy-to-assemble and ready for filling with photos.  For the month of September, I have created this “Blessed” layout using a few of our new upcoming products that will be available in the upcoming Holiday Expressions catalog.

The Boutique paper pack was the one I was blessed with to use for the Convention Extravaganza.  As a presenter at Convention, I was able to create some beautiful projects using Boutique products and, I have enjoyed the paper pack so much, that I have continued to create even more to share with you during the month of September.

Don’t you just love all the little details on this layout? I really ♥LOVE♥ that sparkle.  My September Kit of the Month layout allows room for four 4″x 6″ photos, but all of my kits are easily modifiable to the photos you have.  I designed this layout to allow you add more photos with the use of our Pocket Plus™ Memory Protectors.  You can use either Design 4 or Design 2  to make room for even more memories.

You can subscribe to the Kit of the Month club and have the September Blessed Kit delivered directly to your door next month. Yearly subscribers pay only $12.00* per kit and receive additional perks each month.  Workshop Guides will be available shortly in my online store.  The Workshop Guide includes a supply list, cutting guide, assembly instructions, full-color photos and a Cricut Design Space File™ with custom designed images using our Close to My Heart Cricut® collections.

I can’t wait to see what you create with this kit.

*$12.00 price is for annual subscribers. Shipping costs are in addition to the monthly subscription price. Please visit my Kit of the Month tab for more information
