I currently have an obsession with Pinwheels. You can see them in my March kit as well as in some of my projects I will be featuring over the next month.   When I saw the Gimme Some Sugar papers, the patterns reminded me of a quilt my grandmother made, so I decided to try to create a “Quilted” Pinwheel and I am really delighted with how it turned out.

Sunny Thoughts Layout

Throughout the month of February, I will be creating projects that you can make using our Sunny Thoughts stamp of the month.  This week, I have created this stunning “You are the Sunshine” layout using a few of the stamped images for the background and the title.   I have also added a free layout guide that you can use to re-create this layout.  As always,  a list of supplies used on this project at the very bottom of this post.

SunnyThoughtsLayout.jpg

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ Heather Cardstock,  8″ x 5″ Dot B&T, 9″ x 1½” Linen B&T, ¾” x 3″ Grey Floral B&T, 2″ x 3″ Grey Floral B&T, 1″ x 2½” Leaf B&T, 2¼” x 2½” Leaf B&T, 7½” x 9″ Floral B&T, 7″ x 8½” Striped B&T, 5¾” x 7¾” Glacier Cardstock, 5¼” x 7¼” Heather Cardstock, White Daisy Tag, White Daisy Circle, Heather Circle, Glacier & Heather Cardstock for Flowers

I wanted to add some texture to the layout, so I used the line image from Sunny Thoughts stamp set with Charcoal Ink to create the background.  The circles and flowers were cut out using my Cricut®,  then I stamped the “Sunshine” sentiment onto one of the circles to use as the title.  You can use the measurements above as a cutting guide and the layout grid below for assembly.

Bloom & Grow Layout

Throughout the month of January, I have been creating projects that you can make using our Bloom and Grow stamp of the month.  This week, I created a gorgeous layout using our Artistry Cricut® Collection and our Fundamentals papers.  I am truly in LOVE with this layout and so excited to share how I created it in Cricut® Design Space. As always, you can find the list of supplies used on this project at the very bottom of this post.

Bloom&Grow_LayoutJPG.jpg

I am often asked how I determine the size of the images when I am creating a layout.  Some people like to sit with a ruler, size and re-size, cut and re-cut, and, after much wasted time and paper, they have a layout.  Well, I am a cheapskate and a lazy crafter.  I like to spend the least amount of time and paper when creating.  So, here are a few tips for creating images for your scrapbook layouts in Cricut® Design Space:

  • I had already designed the space where my flowers were going to go on my layout, so I created those images in Design Space by inserting SHAPES sized to the exact size of the paper on my layout.  I will not be cutting these out on my Cricut®, but simply using the images as a reference for the flower images I will be adding. (NOTE: Before cutting out your final images, HIDE or DELETE these shapes so that they do not cut.)

  • After looking at the floral IMAGES I owned, I decided on these flowers from our Artistry Collection.  I like choosing images from the same collection or designer because they often have the same “feel” to the design.
    Bloom&GrowLayout_CricutFlowers.PNG
  • I placed my flowers around the photo mat, resized and flipped as needed, then decided on color shades.  Since my layout consists of Charcoal and Glacier, I decided to use the darker side of the Charcoal and White Daisy.  I love using the COLOR SYNC feature for this step.  I can simply drag and drop images into the color slots.
    Bloom&GrowLayout_CricutColorSync
  • This is what my design looked like once I was finished.  Having those background images helped to make sure the size ratio was on point and gave me a good overall view of what my layout would look like.
    Bloom&GrowLayout_Cricut2

Of course, my finished layout looked a little different.  Once I added the stamped image, I decided that I didn’t like the flowers competing.  Remember, the Bloom and Grow stamp set is only available until January 31st!  Visit the Promotions tab my website to see how you can get this stamp set for only $5.00.  Visit my blog each week for more ideas and tutorials.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

National Stamping Month Blog Hop

Welcome to the National Stamping Month Blog Hop where we will be featuring the From the Heart products.  These products include a beautiful card kit and stamp set that can be used to make some gorgeous creations.  StampingMonthBadge If you have come here from Vickie ODell’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog.  This blog hop is designed to allow you to start here and work your way around. It’s simple, fun, and full of ideas using the From the Heart products.

If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog: http://ifyoublingit.blogspot.com/p/stamp-of-month-blog-hop-list.html.

During the month of September, I will be creating some simple projects using the From the Heart stamp set so make sure to visit often for more inspiration. As I roamed the internet for ideas, I saw that this stamp set was used often with brightly colored flowers and I wondered what it would look like using simple brown tones.  I decided to step outside the box and use our basic colors which resulted in this fall layout that features our Basics Fundamentals papers and inks.  I truly enjoy how it turned out. As always, I’ve included a list of the products used to create this layout at the very bottom of this post.

NSMBasicsLayout
Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ White Daisy Cardstock, 1″ x 12″ B&T Paper, 1½” x 12″ B&T Paper, ¼” x 12 Espresso Cardstock, ½” x 12 Espresso Cardstock, 6″ x 2″ B&T Paper (Basic Fundamentals), (3) 2″ x 2″ B&T Paper (Basic Fundamentals), 6″ x 4″ Espresso Cardstock, 2″ x 2″ Nutmeg Cardstock

Techniques Used:
• I used all of the brown tones of the Basic Fundamentals paper pack.  You could change this by using all of the grey tones with a Black & White photo.
• After placing down the top and bottom paper and cardstock strips, I used a pencil to draw out the space where my photos and papers would be placed. This helped me to stamp the images on the corners without having to create a mask.  Some of my images where stamped partially inside the drawn rectangle to allow my papers to overlap the stamped images.
• The images were stamped using the From the Heart stamp set with Almond, Toffee, Espresso, and Nutmeg inks.  To create more depth, some of my images are stamped using second generation stamping allowing me to using the inks twice for the same image.

• The small heart was created using Nutmeg cardstock and our Basic Hearts Thin Cuts.  I took apart the White Burlap Ribbon and created two pieces of twine to tie across the heart.
• I always adding a little shine to my layouts, so I placed a strip of Rose Gold Foil tape across the base of the inner rectangle.  After looking at it longer, I might add some Rose Gold gems later.

Storybook Vintage Layout

July is almost over and time is running out to purchase this awesome stamp set.  Throughout the month, I have posted some simple projects you can make using the Storybook Alphabet acrylic stamp set.  This week, I have created a vintage layout for my heritage album using some of our Basics Cardstocks and Rustic Home Fundamentals.  The ENTIRE Basics color palette is retiring this month as well as all of our Fundamentals B&T papers. Make sure to visit my website and order your Basics cardstock, inks, and reinkers, as well as your Fundamentals Papers before they are gone FOREVER.

StorybookVintageLayout.jpg

You can easily make this to a school page for your child by simply changing the color palette to primary colors or by shading in the letters. As always, I have created a list of items used on this layout at the very bottom of this post.

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ Cocoa Cardstock, 11½” x 11″ Cashmere Cardstock, 10″ x 5″ Sweet Leaf Cardstock, 7½” x 1″ B&T Paper (Basics Fundamentals), 8″ x 1″ B&T Paper (Basics Fundamentals)

Techniques Used on the Layout:
• The Storybook Alphabet letter stamps were placed randomly onto large 4″ x 5″ My Acrylix blocks, then stamped onto the background cardstock using Cocoa Ink.
StorybookVintageLayout_Block
• The edges were sponged with Cocoa Ink.  I also applied some Cocoa Ink with a sponge onto the letter background of the Sweet Leaf and Cashmere cardstock.
• The White Burlap Ribbon was attached using Micro Glue Dots.  The knot was tied separately, then adhered to the page with a Micro Glue Dot.
• The Rustic Fundamentals Vellum was attached using our Bonding Memories Glue Pen.  I applied the glue the full length of the vellum, allowed it to dry until it was tacky, then attached it the tie B&T paper strip.
