Are you ready for fall? My October workshops will put you in the mood for some cooler weather, autumn tones, and teach you some new techniques you can use on your upcoming projects. I have two workshops during the month of October, so please make sure to RSVP by October 6th for each one you wish to attend.
Falling For You Workshop
We will be making one 2-page 12″ x 12″ layout and two autumn themed cards using the beautiful Falling For You papers and matching accessories. I will be teaching you how to create a “quilted” scrapbook layout, how to use embossing powers, and using reinkers to create multi-toned stamped images. If you wish to attend this workshop, you can learn more about the kits available by visiting the Events page or on my Facebook event page.
Fall Wreath Cricut® Class
Come learn the basics of using our Flower Market Cricut® cartridge in Design Space as you create this festive fall wreath. Bring your laptop, Cricut® and basic supplies, and I will walk you through some basic techniques for designing a wreath and creating three-dimensional flowers with your Cricut®. You will learn how to size, layer, and manipulate the images as well as taking apart images to weld them to text and other images. There are pre-requisites for this class so make sure to visit the Events page or my Facebook event page.
More Fall Projects
I have also created a Kit of the Month for both September and October that would be perfect for your fall photos. You can visit my Kit of the Month tab in the Kits & Guides tab to learn more about these fun layouts. These are wonderful kits you can complete at home at your own pace when it fits into your schedule.
If you have any questions about these workshops or suggestions for future workshops, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I would love to schedule a date with you and your friends to complete one of these workshops together. I always love seeing how talented you all are when you create!

As you know, I enjoy each week’s Color My Heart Dare Challenge. They inspire me to try something new with a color palette I would not have likely chosen. This week, we were challenged to use only Cashmere, Glacier, Lagoon, Sapphire, Whisper and White Daisy inks with the No Worries paper pack, so I chose to make a scrapbook layout for some fun summer vacation photos.
This layout is one that we will be making in my upcoming No Worries Creative Club Workshop where you will learn how to use our inks to enhance your scrapbook pages. On this layout, I used our White Daisy Exclusive Ink Pad to add foam caps to the waves. It really added dimension to the layout. You can find a list of the remaining supplies I used to create this scrapbook page at the bottom of this post. Please feel free to ask questions about the layout, my upcoming workshop, and the products used on this layout.
If you are one of my long-distance followers, you can purchase the Workshop Guide which includes a link to the Cricut Design Space file so that you can recreate this layout using our inks and sponging techniques.
Each week, I am challenged to create something new, and often, I try to maximize my efforts. For this weeks Color My Heart Color Dare, I found the perfect color combination for one of my upcoming Inked Background Workshop cards. Our Sapphire, Glacier, New England Ivy, White Daisy and Desert Sand Ink colors were a perfect combination to create this Oceanside scene for a retirement card. Can’t you just picture yourself spending the rest of your days on this beach?
This card is part of my No Worries Inked Background Card Workshop which you can attend in July. If you are one of my long-distance followers, you can purchase the Workshop Guide and follow the detailed instructions to recreate these relaxing scenes using our inks and sponging techniques.
This card uses our No Worries papers, which I had found to be one of the best paper packs to create with. You can find a list of the remaining supplies I used to create this card at the bottom of this post. Please feel free to ask questions about the card, my upcoming workshop, and the products used on this card.
Here’s a Quick Tip when using our inks and sponges. I have found that it works best to cut our Round Sponge into sixths, then attach one end of the sponge into a Binder Clip. I have each of mine labeled with the color name on the top of the Binder Clip and they all fit into bin on my desk. This keeps my hands a little cleaner and prevents my ink pads from getting contaminated with other colors.
The adventures continue with Inked Background cards for my July workshop. This week, I created a simple Inked Background on the front of a rustic z-fold card using our No Worries paper and accessories. As always, I included a list of supplies I used to create this card at the bottom of this post.
In July, I will be teaching a workshop showing you how to create inked backgrounds for cards. If you love these Inked Backgrounds as much as I do, you will want to visit my blog weekly or subscribe to my workshops newsletter to learn how you can attend one of my workshops. The July No Worries Creative Club Workshop will feature three inked background cards and two layouts using inking techniques. I will also have Workshop Guides available, for those who cannot attend, explaining how to create these amazing projects.
If you decide to start trying to create some amazing Inked Backgrounds, and you suddenly realize that the background seems too dark or patchy, then I suggest you purchase our White Daisy Exclusive Inks Stamp pad. This ink pad is a Pigment Ink that works well to blend our water-based dye inks. Your colors will blend beautifully and have a gorgeous, muted, watercolor look. 🙂
This week’s Color My Heart Dare challenge focuses on our No Worries products and required the use of Cocoa, Lemon, Smoothie, Sea Glass, Cashmere and White Daisy. That may seem like quite the color palette, but I found it to be perfect for creating a beach sunset scene. As always, I included a list of supplies I used to create this card at the bottom of this post.
I have had many people ask how these backgrounds are created, so I have decided that my July Workshops will focus on Inked Backgrounds. I plan to teach how to create this card and two others. Visit my blog throughout the month to see what projects you can make at my No Worries Creative Club Workshop. I will also have Workshop Guides available, for those who cannot attend, explaining how to create an inked background.
Email me at email@example.com to order your $3.00 guide with detailed instructions for creating this card. As always, you will receive a FREE workshop guide of your choice with any $30 online order on my website (before shipping & tax).
If you decide to start trying to create some amazing Inked Backgrounds, I would suggest that you get yourself an All Purpose Mat. This tool is a time-saver when it comes to cleaning up your work surface after inking. Your hands may be a mess, but your work surface will be clean. 😉
Don’t forget to visit my site throughout the month so that you can see more ideas using the No Worries paper pack and accessories.
I love my Close to My Heart crafting business. I enjoy teaching new techniques, meeting new people, going to events, and the things I create. Each month, I create workshops that I teach to groups at individual homes and the local library. I create kits for selling at local crops and to long-distance paper crafters. I have fun going to people homes and teaching people how to create with Close to My Heart products. I do all these things because I LOVE my business, but it can get MESSY. Rarely to I share anything personal, but this is what my space looks like while creating. Can you relate???? 🙂
The OCD person in me is crawling as I look at it, but it is OH, SO WORTH IT!! This glorious mess resulted in a Prickly Pear Workshop full of cards and layouts. I love this small business where I can create such fun kits to share with each of you. If paper crafting brings you as much joy as it brings me, I would love to talk to you about having a Card Making Party or becoming a Close to My Heart Consultant. This business truly brings me joy! After all, just look at what this mess created.
