April Showers bring May flowers … and planning days for May celebrations. On days full of snow and rain, I am able to spend time in my craft room planning for the upcoming holidays without feeling guilty that I should be working on my never-ending yard. This week, I attempted to create a Mother’s Day card using the colors for this week’s Color My Heart Dare – Lagoon, Mink, Peacock and Silver – which, to me, seemed like very non-traditional Mother’s Day colors. I choose to make a layered Flower Bouquet using various stamped images and, I must say, it turned out better than I had hoped. You can find the list of supplies I used on this card at the very bottom of this post.
Paper Needed: 4¼” x 5½” White Card Base, 4″ x 4″ Dotted Velum (Postcard Perfect),
2½” x 4″ Mink Cardstock, White Daisy Cardstock scraps
Here are some of the techniques I used to create this card:
- I used the second-generation stamping technique on the large flowers so that the Lagoon and Mink Inks appeared lighter. After stamping, I used a Watercolor Pencil to add shading to the flowers, then brushed it with a Clear Shimmer Brush.
- The images were all cut out by hand and layered onto the card using Thin Foam Dots and 3D Foam Tape. By using two different types of adhesive, I was able to get a multi-layered look on the card.
- I used White Embossing Powder on the sentiment and Silver Embossing Powder for some of the leaves.
Don’t forget that the Color Your Life and the Chelsea Gardens Scrapbooking stamp sets are only available through April 30th. I hope you take the time to try to create a few Mother’s Day cards this year and, while you are at it, join in on the weekly Color My Heart Dare challenges. I can’t wait to see what you create!
It’s the time of year to clear off the cobwebs, shake out the rugs, and clean-out some long forgotten items in our homes. Spring just brings in a fresh renewal to life. As I have been preparing for the New Seasonal Expressions, I have realized that I need to start making room for the new products, new layouts, and new workshop guides. My online store is becoming especially cluttered but, before I begin taking things down, I have decided to offer you a 20% discount on ALL the remaining items in my online store.
This discount includes the purchase of both my guides and my kits. Quantities are limited and many of these items will no longer be available for sale after April 30th, so please make sure to order before I do my spring cleaning.
Here are a few tips for shopping my online store:
- Make sure to choose whether you wish to purchase the Guide or the Kit.
- Choose the ELECTRONIC SHIPPING method in your cart when purchasing a guide.
- If you live locally, you can chose the “Pick-Up” option to save on shipping costs.
- I do not ship kits outside of the U.S., but you can still purchase the Workshop Guides at a discount.
- The check-out does require a 5 digit zip-code for purchases, which can be tricky for those outside the U.S., so please email me at email@example.com and I will tell you how to “get around” this part of the check-out process.
- At Check-Out, type the PromoCode SPRINGCLEANUP to save 20% on your purchase!
You can save even more on your Guide Purchases when you join my HeARTfully Blessed Creations Team. As a special thank-you, I give all of my incredible team members 25% off their Guide Purchases which means that, during the month of April, you will save 45% on your Guide purchases. April is a great time to join our team! Not only do you receive a kit worth over $250 in Close to My Heart products and $50 in CTMH Cash, you also receive the next FOUR exclusive stamp of the month stamp sets for free PLUS you have access to all of my workshop guides at remarkable discount.
Well friends, it’s time to get back to my “Spring Cleaning”. I am so excited to make room for the new products and also sad to see all of the current ones retire. As you shop for guides, remember that many of those papers and embellishments will also be gone from my website after April 30th. Make sure to grab them before they retire for good. I can’t wait to see what you create!

For this week’s Color My Heart Dare challenge, we are required to use Eggplant, Pewter, and Goldrush. You would think that these colors wouldn’t complement each other, yet, I found many examples in nature where these colors beautifully enhance one another. For this challenge, I choose to create a simple card where the colors complement each other to create a project full of color and texture. You can find the list of supplies used on this card at the very bottom of this post.
On this card I wanted all of my colors to match, so I chose to create my own watercolor paint. I simply mixed a few drops of Reinker with a ¼ tsp of water, then carefully shaded the images with a fine paintbrush. Since I used a water-based ink to stamp the images, I had to extra cautious not to use too much “paint” on my images. After painting the images, I splattered a little bit of the remaining Goldrush watercolor around the butterfly for added texture.
You can easily recreate this card for any occasion. I would love to see you join in on this week’s Color My Heart Color Dare challenge. You have until March 22nd to create and add your project to the challenge page. I can’t wait to see what you create!

In case you were not aware, St. Patrick’s Day is coming. 🙂 This week for my Die-Namite Blog Hop project, I created a charming card using our Basic Hearts Thin Cuts to create a four-leave clover. I had so much fun making the card for the blog hop, that I decided to create a few more cards for St. Patrick’s Day using our Thin Cuts and patterned papers. You can find a complete list of the supplies I used on these cards at that very bottom of this post.
On each of these cards, I used our Basic Hearts Thin Cuts to make the clovers. These Heart dies come in four sizes – 2½”, 2″, 1½”, and 1″. During our Die-namite sale, you can purchase just the Basic Heart Thin Cuts set for only $9.71 or purchase the Basic Shapes Thin Cut Bundle which includes not only the Basic Hearts, but the Basic Ovals, Basic Stars, and Basic Circles sets at an AMAZING SAVINGS.
Both of these cards were super-simple to make. The Lucky Clover card was created using papers from the Chelsea Gardens collection withthe 1½” and 1″ Basic Heart Thin Cuts, then the “Lucky” Artbooking sentiment was cut from Gold Foil Paper and added to the card along with Gold Shimmer, Gold Ribbon, and Gold Gems. To create the second card, I used a sentiment from the Gimme Some Sugar complements which looked like something an Irish grandma might say to her grandchildren. The 1½” and 1″ Basic Hearts were cut from matching patterned papers and formed into the clover shape.
Don’t forget that during the month of March, our Basic Hearts Thin cuts are available at a considerable discount. Our Die-Namite sale is defiantly one that you will want to take advantage of to stock up on our Thin Cuts dies, bundles, and stamp + thin cut sets. Unfortunately, they will only be on sale through March 31st, while supplies last, so make sure you visit my website and order your Thin Cuts before they are gone for good.
I can’t wait to see what you create with our Thin Cuts!
Birthdays are major events for some, happy days for others, and a way to celebrate another year on earth with your family and friends. This “One Year Older” layout is a great way to showcase those photos celebrating another year blessed. Throughout the month of March, I will be posting birthday themed projects using our Birthday Time stamp of the month that you can use as inspiration. As always, the list of supplies used on this layout can be found at the very bottom of this post.
Wherever I go through my paper scraps, I have found that most of it includes our PML (Picture My Life) papers. These pages have been designed for pocket scrapbooking, but they are also great to use as photos mats, on card fronts, and, as I did, to decorate a scrapbook page.
Here are a few ways that I used my leftover Chelsea Gardens PML cards:
• The Diagonal PML was used as the background for the “One Year Older” title. It wasn’t quite long enough, so I cut it in half and used part above and part below the image.
• I included the Grey Dotted PML in the background. My background was designed using a hodgepodge of paper scraps including some PML cards and zip-strips – kind of like a crazy quilt.
• Since the Complements are a dark grey, I needed a way to create some matching paper strips for the “It’s Your Birthday” embellishment. The dark grey on the “True Story” PML matched perfectly.
• I wanted a place to include journaling, so I cut up the “Lined Butterfly” PML to the size I needed, stamped “Date”, and added it to the layout with some Complements.
I added a few more embellishments using the Birthday Time stamp set, along with the Basic Banners, Scallop Border and Oval Thin Cuts. (Don’t forget that these Thin Cuts are on sale this month, while supplies last.)
The Birthday Time stamp set is available for purchase on my website through March 31st. You can purchase it for $17.95 or for only $5.00 with a qualifying $50.00 purchase. I will be posting more projects using this stamp set throughout the month, so make sure to visit often. I can’t wait to see what you create!
This week’s Color My Heart Dare allows you to choose colors from a Tic-Tac-Toe board featuring the palette from the “Make Waves” collection. Since Easter is coming much sooner this year, I decided to begin making a few cards to send to family and friends. I was inspired by a card I found in a magazine and decided to try to recreate it using ONLY the colors Lagoon, Willow, and Pansy. As always, the list of supplies used on this project can be found at the very bottom of this post.
I began with a 4¼” x 4″ piece of White Daisy cardstock that I sponged with Willow and Lagoon Ink. I created various masks to create the hills and sky, then sponged the entire creation with White Daisy ink to blend the colors even more. The images were stamped using Black Memento Ink, then shaded using our ShinHan Markers.
I, of course, had to add a little bit of sparkle with the Clear Shimmer Brush to the images. The White Daisy cardstock was adhered to some Pansy cardstock, then onto the card base. Even though was very simple to make, the cheery warmth of this card makes me feel ready for Spring to arrive.
I would love to see you join the Color My Heart Dare challenge this week. They love to see participation from all of their crafty friends. If you join the challenge this week, we can pick up this special “Buddy Badge” to proudly display on the side bar of our blogs, and get an extra chance to any of the random draws. Make sure to let me know if you decided to join in this week. I can’t wait to see what you create!!
Each quarter, a new Seasonal Expressions catalog arrives and I purchase packs of papers for my workshops and personal projects. This can amount to a plethora of paper. I made it a personal goal this year to use up ALL of my paper supplies each quarter BEFORE another idea book arrives. If you are like me, you have lots of random scraps that need using so, this week, I used up some of my Make Waves scraps to create this Sparkly Scrap card for the Color My Heart Color Dare and Heart 2 Heart weekly challenges. As always, a list of supplies I used on this project can be found at the very bottom of this post.
This card uses up random scraps of paper from the Make Waves Paper Packet. I used ½” strips of leftover paper and PML cards to create the background, a 12″ strip to create the Rosette, and matching cardstock pieces to finish the card. You can use any paper strips or zip-strips in your paper stash to create a card like this. I suggest sticking to 3-4 colors and creating a “visual triangle” with the colors you chose. This prevents the card from looking jumbled and allows your eye to flow across the images. As you can see, I used only Pixie, Emerald, and Pansy, then placed them so that each strip along with the rosette and large butterfly created “visual triangles”.
To make the card “extra sparkly”, I painted to butterflies with our Clear Shimmer Brush. These cards went together quickly and I now have less paper to use up before the end of the quarter. 🙂 I would love to see how you use up your paper stash of scraps. Feel free to post your projects on my Facebook Page for everyone to see. I can’t wait to see what you create!
