Going.. Going.. Gone

It feels like our Annual Expressions and Seasonal Expression catalogs just recently arrived full of fresh, new, desired products. Yet, as the seasons change, so will our products and we will make way for the new Holiday Expressions.  I must admit, there are a few  products from these catalogs that I will miss.  Thank goodness you still have a few more weeks to go before they are gone for good.  Here were a few of my favorites this year.

WELL LOVED COLORS
Several of our colors will be retiring at the end of August.  These are all colors I have enjoyed using and plan on continuing to create with.  If you plan to do the same, make sure you snag the cardstock, ink pads, and re-inkers before they are gone.

WELL LOVED PAPERS
Our paper is such an amazing product to create with. Each year, there are new patterns with a variety of possibilities.  For me, our Enchantment Fundamentals and Fresh Air paper packs were some of my favorites.

WELL LOVED STAMP SETS
Sadly, we have to see all of our current stamp sets go and, unfortunately, my most “loved” set, “We Are Makers” will be among them.  I have used this stamp set for so many projects and will be holding onto it for more in the future.

WELL LOVED KITCHEN TRADITIONS COOKBOOK

If you haven’t taken the time to check it out, you need to make sure you take a look at the Kitchen Traditions Cookbook kits. I created one of these books for our son and new daughter that is full of family recipes with room for other’s they collect along the way.

WELL LOVED PUNNY PALS
The Punny Pals set was one of the most adorable stamps created to benefit Operation Smile.  When you purchase this stamp set, we will donate $7 USD of the proceeds to Operation Smile™, a non-profit organization that provides surgeries to repair cleft lips and palates for children around the world.

You still have a few more weeks to get a hold of these well loved products and others that will be retiring August 31st. You can visit the GOING SOON section of my website to view all the products that will no longer be available in a few weeks or, better yet, check out the CLEARANCE section for even more well loved products that you can purchase at a discount. I can’t wait to see what you create!

BlessedBanner.jpg

As I decorate my home for Fall, I always enjoy finding new projects to create.  I saw this adorable fall banner online and had to recreate it using our Enchantment and Basic Fundamentals papers with my Cricut® machine.  If you wish to recreate this Blessed Banner for your home, I have included a list of supplies, Cricut® cuts, and a short tutorial below.

Cricut® Images Used:
Banner Page – #M4235A  (4.5″w x 6″h)
Square – #M423C5 (3.75″w x 3.25″w)
Square – #M423C5 (3.5″w x 3.0″w)
Maple Leaf – #MD6F565
Feather Leaf – #MD717F5
Oak Leaf – #MD6F5EF

Inserting text can be tricky in Design Space®, so I have included a quick tutorial to help you add text to your Blessed Banner.

Inserting and Ungrouping Text in Cricut® Design Space
1. After inserting all of your images into your Canvas, you will choose TEXT in the Design Panel, then type BLESSED in the text box.
2. When you insert text, the Text Edit Bar will drop down to allow you to choose the font you wish to use.  ALL shows all fonts available. SYSTEM shows fonts that on on your computer.  CRICUT shows fonts that are just Cricut® fonts.
3. Use your FILTER to narrow the choices down even more. MY FONTS are ones you own. MULTI-LAYER are layered while SINGLE-LAYER are not. WRITING fonts are for writing. You can choose more then one of these filter options.

TextEditBar_Fonts

4. Once you have chosen an FONT, you can change the STYLE if you wish.
5. With your TEXT selected, choose ADVANCED then choose UNGROUP TO LETTERS. You will notice that in your Layers Panel, each letter is now it’s own layer. This will allow you to move each letter individually to the banner pieces.
LayersPanel_Text

6. Move each letter and resize as needed.  You can UNLOCK to resize the width and height separately, or keep it locked to make sure that the letter sizes proportionately.
Text_ArrangeonBanner

7. You can still change the font, color, and style after you have UNGROUPED the text.  You will have to change each one individually if you change your mind, or UNDO to REGROUP the text and choose the font again.

Thank You From the Heart

I am always in need of thank you cards, and I like to keep them on hand to grab for last minute mailings.  This week, I decided to create a thank-you card with autumn tones and floral images using the From the Heart stamp set.  This was a very simple project, easy to duplicate, and quick to make multiples of to put in my card stash.

For National Stamping Month, Close to My Heart has created this gorgeous floral stamp set that has over THIRTY-FIVE images.  This From the Heart stamp set has been enjoyable to use with it’s layered images and beautiful sentiments, but it is only available through September 30th. Make sure to visit my website to order your’s before it is gone. You can scroll down to the bottom of this post for the list of the products used to create this card.

NSMThankYouCard

Paper Needed: 4¼” x 5½” White Card Base, 4″ x 5¼” Cardstock (Saffron), 2½” x 5″ White Daisy Cardstock, 1″ x 5″ B&T Paper (Enchantment Fundamentals), 1″ x 1″ White Daisy Cardstock

Assembly Instructions:
1. Adhere the 4″ x 5¼” cardstock to the center of the White card base.
2. Using Fern Ink, stamp the “Stem” images onto the 2½” x 5″ White Daisy cardstock.
3. Using Flaxen Ink, stamp the “Fern” and “Leaf” images onto the White Daisy cardstock.
4. Using Saffron and Goldrush Inks, stamp the “Flower” images onto the White Daisy cardstock.
5. Using Sorbet Ink, stamp the “Large Flower Base” onto the 1″ x 1″ White Daisy cardstock. With Sorbet Ink, stamp the “Large Flower Second Layer” twice so that the Sorbet ink is darker than the first layer.
6. Using Poppy Ink, stamp the “Large Flower Third Layer”, then stamp the centers of the flower with Saffron and Goldrush inks.
7. Cut out the “Large Flower” image and adhere to the largest stem using Thin 3D Foam Dots.
8. Using a corner rounder, round the top corners of the White Daisy cardstock, then, with Black Ink, stamp the sentiment onto the upper right corner of the White Daisy cardstock.
9. Adhere the White Daisy cardstock onto the top center of the card.
10. Pull apart a few pieces of White Burlap Ribbon, then wrap the “twine” around the B&T paper strip. Adhere the strip to the card below the White Daisy cardstock and create a decorative knot with some more “twine”.

Remember, the From the Heart products are available until September 30th!  Visit the Promotions tab on my website learn how you can get this card kit and stamp set for FREE! I can’t wait to see what you create!

Feel So Blessed SOTM Blog Hop

Welcome to the Feel So Blessed Stamp of the Month Blog Hop where we will be featuring the September Feel So Blessed stamp set. I have enjoyed using the sentiments of 2017SeptSOTM.jpggratitude on this stamp set for both cards and scrapbook pages and I know you will, too.   If you have come here from Kathy Burrows’ blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog.  This blog hop is designed to allow you to start here and work your way around. It’s simple, fun, and full of ideas using the Feel So Blessed stamp set.

If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog: http://ifyoublingit.blogspot.com/p/stamp-of-month-blog-hop-list.html.

During the month of September, I will be creating weekly projects using the Feel So Blessed  stamp set so make sure to visit often. This week, I have created an autumn themed layout with our New Fundamentals papers to express what I am truly grateful for. As always, I’ve included a list of the products used to create this project at the very bottom of this post.
FeelSoBlessedLayout

Paper Needed: (2) 12″ x 12″ Cardstock (Toffee), (15) 3″ x 3″ B&T Paper (Enchantment Fundamentals), 6″ x 8″ Cardstock (Nutmeg), 6″ x 4″ Cardstock (Nutmeg), 6″ x 6″ Cardstock (Toffee), 4″ x 4″ Saffron Cardstock, 4″ x 4″ Fern Cardstock, 3″ x 3″ Pomegranate Cardstock, 6″ x 6″ Gold Glitter Paper

Techniques Used on the Layout:
The Enchantment Fundamentals squares were adhered to the pages about 1½” from the top of the page.  I did not put paper behind the photo mats (I like to save when I can).

The Leaves were cut from Saffron, Fern, and Pomegranate cardstock using the You Are Here Cricut® cartridge.  I added texture to the leaves using our new Leaves Embossing folder that can be found in our Holiday Expressions catalog.

The Title was cut from Gold Glitter paper using the You Are Here Cricut® cartridge. You can view the Cricut® Design Space file here, but you must own the cartridge in order to cut out the images.  You can purchase this amazing You Are Here Cricut® cartridge bundle from my website.
FeelSoBlessedLayout_Title
I used Nutmeg Ink to stamp the “For This”, “So Blessed” and number images onto Toffee cardstock.  I used our 3-D Foam Dots to attach the numbers to the journalling strips to create a list of the things I am grateful for.

You can continue through the blog hop and see more ideas from twenty-five other Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month’s Feel So Blessed stamp set and other great Close to My Heart products on their blogs.

School Year Notepad Cover

There are many ways to thank a teacher, but the best way is to give them things they will use.  Notepads are a necessity to keep track of to-do lists, supplies runs, and doodles. This cute little notepad cover was effortless to make and our School Year stamp of the month created the perfect decoration on the cover.  You can change the patterns and colors to make as many of these back-to-school gifts as you would like.  As always, I have listed the products I used to create this project at the very bottom of this post.

SchoolYearNotepadHolder

Paper Needed: 8½” x 6″ B&T Paper, 9½” x 6″ Cardstock, 3″ x 5″ B&T Paper, 2¾” x 4¾” Cardstock

Assembly Instructions:
1. Score the 9½” x 6″ cardstock at 4″, 4½”, 5″,  and 5½”  on the long side.
2. Fold the cardstock as shown below to create the pen holder for the inside of the notepad cover. SchoolYearNotepadHolder_InsideFolds
3. Stamp the “Frame” image onto the lower right side using Fern ink. If desired, stamp the teachers name inside the frame or write a sweet sentiment of gratitude.
4. Score the 8½” x 6″ B&T paper at 4″ and 4½” on the long side then fold to create an outer cover.
SchoolYearNotepadHolder_OutsideCover
5. Place adhesive onto the back of the outside cover in the rectangle areas shown. Do not place adhesive where the pen will be.
SchoolYearNotepadHolder_InsideAdhesive
6. Attach the cardstock (inside) to the paper (outside) cover making sure the pen holder section is raised.
7. Close the cover and burnish all of the folds with a Bone Folder.
8. Glue in the notepad and sticky pad, then decorate the outside however you wish.
SchoolYearNotepadHolder_InsidePads

I created the sentiment on the front cover using the writing font from our Flower Market cartridge in Cricut® Design Space. If you like this clever cover sentiment, you can download the file HERE and change the font or pen color to match your design.  I do not charge for these files, but I do ask that, if you are able,  you consider supporting my business by making a purchase on my website.

Remember that the School Year stamp of the month is available through August 30th. Visit the “Promotions” tab of my website to learn how you can get this stamp set for only $5.00!

School Year Scrapbook Layout

Honestly, I am trying to catch up on my own scrapbooks.  My children are no longer in school, but I am working on recording their memories.  When I saw the School Year stamp of the month, I was excited to use it for this simple, clean layout.  It allowed me to make quick embellishments, have an organized journalling box, and assemble this layout in under 20 minutes.  Since I am so far behind, I will probably copy this layout multiple times using different patterned papers, add a child’s name as the title, and have a page for each of my kids albums completed. BONUS!

SchoolYearLayout.jpg

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ B&T Paper (Striped Peacock), 12″ x 12″ B&T Paper (Letters Peacock), 4″ x 4″ B&T Paper (Striped Pomegranate), 5½” x 7½” B&T Paper (Striped Saffron), 2¼” x 4½” B&T Paper (Striped Pomegranate), (3) 4″ x 6″ Cardstock (Saffron), 4″ x 4″ Cardstock (Saffron)

SchoolYearLayout_DetailOne
Since this layout is so simple to create, instead of instructions, I have included a layout guide for you to follow and a few detailed photos of the embellishments I created using the School Year stamp set.  As always, I have included a list of the products I used at the very bottom of this post.

The “Pencil” images were stamped using Black ink onto White Daisy cardstock, then shaded with Watercolor pencils. You could wrap this with twine, add some enamel gems, or change the colors to match your papers.

SchoolYearLayout_DetailTwo

This journal box image is perfect for recording those “first day” memories.  The image was stamped onto White Daisy cardstock using Black ink, then adhered to Peacock cardstock.  I added a knotted ribbon for an embellishment.  You could change this by adding enamel gems, star cuts, or stick around the edges.

All of my Workshop Guides include layout grids like this one below.  I include measurements, notations, and label the individual cuts to match with the cutting guide.

Don’t forget! The School Year stamp of the month is available through August 30th.  Visit the “Promotions” tab of my website to learn how you can get this stamp set for only $5.00.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Happy Together Layout

Last week, I used the the Flock Together Stamp of the Month to create part of this layout that will feature my family playing in the river.  On this week’s project, I used the stamps to create parts of the title and add a fun embellishment to the page.  You can use this simple, rustic layout for any type of outdoor photos.  At the very bottom of this post, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this layout.

FlockTogetherLayout_PG2

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ Colonial White Cardstock, 12″ x 6″  B&T Paper (I used Enchantment Fundamentals),  12″ x ¾″ B&T Paper (I used Rustic Home Fundamentals), (4) 3″ x 3″ Cardstock (I used Chocolate)

Here are a few techniques I used on this layout:

  • The ‘Wood’ border was created by using a scallop border punch on a 12″ x ¾″ piece of Rustic Home Fundamentals B&T paper.
  • The ribbon around the border is a piece of jute ribbon from the Rustic Fundamentals Ribbon pack.  I cut the piece of ribbon in half to make it thinner, wrapped it around to the back the page, then created a knot.
  • The title was created by combining fonts from the Artbooking and Artiste Cricut cartridges, then cutting them out from the Enchantment Fundamentals B&T paper.
  • The hearts in the title were stamped using Fern ink and the Flock Together Stamp Set.
  • The tabs on to the upper right side of the page were cut from 2″ x 1″ pieces of Enchantment Fundamentals and Rustic Fundamentals B&T paper.  I rounded the corners using a corner rounder to create the look of a tabs which will be perfect to label the photo’s date or location.
  • The “Love This” embellishment was created using the Flock Together stamp set and Desert Sand Ink.  I used a 1″ circle punch to cut the image from Colonial White Cardstock. To make the saying stand out, I used a Clay ShinHan Marker to trace the letters.

Flock Together Layout

The Flock Together Stamp of the Month can be used to create some fun scrapbook layouts. On this week’s project, I used the stamps to create a cute illustration at the bottom of the page to represent my family playing in the river.  The layout is simple and rustic and can be used for any type of outdoor photos.   I’ll be sharing the second half of this layout next week,  so be sure to visit.  At the very bottom of this post, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this layout.

FlockTogetherLayout_PG1.jpg

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ Colonial White Cardstock, 12″ x 6″  B&T Paper (I used Enchantment Fundamentals),  12″ x ¾″ B&T Paper (I used Rustic Home Fundamentals), 7½” x 5½” Cardstock (I used Chocolate)

Here are a few techniques I used on this layout:

  • The illustration was created using the Flock Together stamp set.  I stamped the larger birds using Chocolate Ink, the baby birds using Desert Sand Ink, and the “River” using Sapphire ink.
  • The ‘Wood’ border was created by using a scallop border punch on a 12″ x ¾″ piece of Rustic Home Fundamentals.
  • The ribbon around the photo mat is a piece of jute ribbon from the Rustic Fundamentals Ribbon pack.  I cut the piece of ribbon in half to make it thinner, wrapped it around a 7¼” x 5¼” piece of Colonial White cardstock, then tied a knot.
  • The journalling strips are cut at ½” then placed randomly to the right of the photo.
  • The tab on to the left of the photo mat is a 3″ x ¾″ piece of Enchantment Fundamentals B&T paper.  I rounded the corners using a corner rounder to create the look of a tab which will be perfect to label the photo’s date or location.

Tea-rrific Tea Party Treat

For this week’s Color My Heart Dare Challenge, I used the  Tea-rriffic stamp set to create some fun tea party treats. One side of these little treats holds a tea bag while the other holds a 3 x 3″ note card, plus there are cookies in the center.   These little treats are perfect  for your own Mother’s Day tea party or as a shower favor. At the very bottom of this post, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this project.
TeaBagTreatHolder
Paper Needed: 12″ x 8½” B&T Paper (I used Enchantment Fundamentals), 6″ x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock, 3″ x ½” B&T Paper (I used Enchantment Fundamentals), 2¾” x 2¾” Glitter Paper ( I used Sea Glass), 2½” x 2½” Watercolor Paper

Assembly Instructions:
1. Score the shorter side of the 12″ x 8½” B&T Paper 2½” and 6″. Score on long side at 1¼”, 2½”, 5, 7, 9½” and 10¾”.
2. Cut the 2½” x 2½” squares off each of the four corners.
3. Place the pattern side down (the one you want to show on the finished project). Fold up the four corners into the center diagonally using the bone folder to press the folds down. StepOne
4. Fold each of the short sides into the center across the score lines. StepTwo

5. Turn the paper over. Fold up the sides on the 5″ and 7″ score lines.
6. Fold down the 1¼” flaps on each side. After you have added the bag of cookies, use a hole punch to create two holes to string ribbon through.

7. To create the card base, fold the 6″ x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock in half at 3″.
8. Place the 3″ x ½” B&T Paper horizontally along the base of the card.
9.  Using Black Memento Ink, stamp the “Tea Cup” and “Flower” images onto the 2½” x 2½” Watercolor Paper.  Shade the images using Watercolor Pencils then blend using a small round waterbrush. NOTE: I used Start Spangled Blue and Ocean to made the Peacock color, then used Holiday Red and Cranberry to make the Pomegranate color.  The center is Black.
10. Create a mask of the “Tea Cup” image, then, using Black Memento Ink, stamp the “Steam” image above the cup. NOTE: I create masks using full adhesive sticky notes.
11. Once dry, layer the 2½” square Watercolor Paper onto the center of the Glitter Paper, then adhere to the card.
12. If desired, stamp a sentiment inside the card. Place the card into one of the pockets then add a tea bag to the other.
