Hearts & Clovers

In case you were not aware, St. Patrick’s Day is coming. ūüôā¬† This week for my Die-Namite Blog Hop project, I created a charming card using our Basic Hearts Thin Cuts to create a four-leave clover.¬† I had so much fun making the card for the blog hop, that I decided to create a few more cards for St. Patrick’s Day using our Thin Cuts and patterned papers.¬† You can find a complete list of the supplies I used on these cards at that very bottom of this post.

BasicHeartsCloverCards

On each of these cards, I used our Basic Hearts Thin Cuts to make the clovers.¬† These Heart dies come in four sizes – 2¬Ĺ”, 2″, 1¬Ĺ”, and 1″.¬† During our Die-namite sale, you can purchase just the Basic Heart Thin Cuts set for only $9.71 or¬†¬†purchase the Basic Shapes Thin Cut Bundle which includes not only the Basic Hearts, but the Basic Ovals, Basic Stars, and Basic Circles sets at an AMAZING SAVINGS.

Both of these cards were super-simple to make.¬† The Lucky Clover card was created using papers from the Chelsea Gardens collection withthe¬†1¬Ĺ” and 1″ Basic Heart Thin Cuts, then the “Lucky” Artbooking sentiment was cut from Gold Foil Paper and added to the card along with Gold Shimmer, Gold Ribbon, and Gold Gems.¬† To create the second card, I used a sentiment from the Gimme Some Sugar complements which looked like something an Irish grandma might say to her grandchildren.¬† The 1¬Ĺ” and 1″ Basic Hearts were cut from matching patterned papers and formed into the clover shape.

Don’t forget that during the month of March, our Basic Hearts Thin cuts are available at a considerable discount.¬† Our Die-Namite sale is defiantly one that you will want to take advantage of to stock up on our Thin Cuts dies, bundles, and stamp + thin cut sets.¬† ¬†Unfortunately, they will only be on sale through March 31st, while supplies last,¬†so make sure you visit my website and order your Thin Cuts before they are gone for good.

I can’t wait to see what you create with our Thin Cuts!

Through the Year Calendar Tips

During the month of December, you can purchase our gorgeous Through the Year Calendar kit.¬† This kit would make the perfect gift to give to a grandparent, a new mom, or a friend filled full of photos or left blank for them to add their own.¬†¬†When I opened my kit, I poured over the contents – a 12″ My Creations‚ĄĘ calendar, beautiful Basics Fundamentals, cardstock, and our Happy Moments Complements, Gold Glitter Gems, gold glitter¬† die cuts, and MORE.

CalendarKit

Close to My Heart added a wonderful set of instructions and a cutting guide to this kit, but there were a few things that I had to figure out on my own.¬† To make your calendar making adventure a little easier, I have created a “Tips and Tricks” guide full of some helpful pointers that will make the calendar assembly simple.¬† Some of these tips were gathered from other consultants, and others were ones I discovered on my own.

When you purchase a Through the Year Calendar Kit from my website, I will send you this¬†“Tips and Tricks” guide FREE along with a few other helpful tips.¬† (Everyone will also receive a little happy mail from me).¬† You are also welcome to come to my Calendar Workshop on December 16th where I will provide stamps, inks, and assistance as you create your beautiful Through the Year Calendar.

I know you will love making and giving the¬†Through the Year Calendar¬†as much as I did. In fact, I am ordering a second kit to keep for myself. ūüôā I would love to see your calendar creations.¬† Feel free to post them onto Miss. Carrie’s Creations Facebook page for others to enjoy.¬† I can’t wait to see what you create!

School Year Notepad Cover

There are many ways to thank a teacher, but the best way is to give them things they will use.  Notepads are a necessity to keep track of to-do lists, supplies runs, and doodles. This cute little notepad cover was effortless to make and our School Year stamp of the month created the perfect decoration on the cover.  You can change the patterns and colors to make as many of these back-to-school gifts as you would like.  As always, I have listed the products I used to create this project at the very bottom of this post.

SchoolYearNotepadHolder

Paper Needed: 8¬Ĺ” x 6″ B&T Paper,¬†9¬Ĺ” x 6″ Cardstock, 3″ x 5″ B&T Paper, 2¬ĺ” x 4¬ĺ” Cardstock

Assembly Instructions:
1. Score the 9¬Ĺ” x 6″ cardstock at¬†4″, 4¬Ĺ”, 5″, ¬†and 5¬Ĺ” ¬†on the long side.
2. Fold the cardstock as shown below to create the pen holder for the inside of the notepad cover. SchoolYearNotepadHolder_InsideFolds
3. Stamp the “Frame” image onto the lower right side using Fern ink. If desired, stamp the teachers name inside the frame or write a sweet sentiment of gratitude.
4. Score the¬†8¬Ĺ” x 6″ B&T paper at 4″ and 4¬Ĺ” on the long side then fold to create an outer cover.
SchoolYearNotepadHolder_OutsideCover
5. Place adhesive onto the back of the outside cover in the rectangle areas shown. Do not place adhesive where the pen will be.
SchoolYearNotepadHolder_InsideAdhesive
6. Attach the cardstock (inside) to the paper (outside) cover making sure the pen holder section is raised.
7. Close the cover and burnish all of the folds with a Bone Folder.
8. Glue in the notepad and sticky pad, then decorate the outside however you wish.
SchoolYearNotepadHolder_InsidePads

I created the sentiment on the front cover using the writing font from our¬†Flower Market cartridge in Cricut¬ģ Design Space. If you like this clever cover sentiment, you can download the file HERE¬†and change the font or pen color to match your design. ¬†I do not charge for these files, but I do ask that, if you are able, ¬†you consider supporting my business by making a purchase on my website.

Remember that the School Year stamp of the month is available through August 30th. Visit the “Promotions” tab of my website to learn how you can get this stamp set for only $5.00!¬†

School Year Scrapbook Layout

Honestly, I am trying to catch up on my own scrapbooks. ¬†My children are no longer in school, but I am working on recording their memories. ¬†When I saw the School Year stamp of the month, I was excited to use it for this simple, clean layout. ¬†It allowed me to make quick embellishments, have an organized journalling box, and assemble this layout in under 20 minutes. ¬†Since I am so far behind, I will probably copy this layout multiple times using different patterned papers, add a child’s name as the title, and have a page for each of my kids albums completed. BONUS!

SchoolYearLayout.jpg

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ B&T Paper (Striped Peacock), 12″ x 12″ B&T Paper (Letters Peacock), 4″ x 4″ B&T Paper (Striped Pomegranate), 5¬Ĺ” x 7¬Ĺ” B&T Paper (Striped Saffron), 2¬ľ” x 4¬Ĺ” B&T Paper (Striped Pomegranate), (3) 4″ x 6″ Cardstock (Saffron), 4″ x 4″ Cardstock (Saffron)

SchoolYearLayout_DetailOne
Since this layout is so simple to create, instead of instructions, I have included a layout guide for you to follow and a few detailed photos of the embellishments I created using the School Year stamp set.  As always, I have included a list of the products I used at the very bottom of this post.

The “Pencil” images were stamped using Black ink onto White Daisy cardstock, then shaded with Watercolor pencils. You could wrap this with twine, add some enamel gems, or change the colors to match your papers.

SchoolYearLayout_DetailTwo

This journal box image is perfect for recording those “first day” memories. ¬†The image was stamped onto White Daisy cardstock using Black ink, then adhered to Peacock cardstock. ¬†I added a knotted ribbon for an embellishment. ¬†You could change this by adding enamel gems, star cuts, or stick around the edges.

All of my Workshop Guides include layout grids like this one below.  I include measurements, notations, and label the individual cuts to match with the cutting guide.

Don’t forget! The School Year stamp of the month is available through August 30th. ¬†Visit the “Promotions” tab of my website to learn how you can get this stamp set for only $5.00. ¬†I can’t wait to see what you create!

Happy Together Layout

Last week, I used the the Flock Together Stamp of the Month to create part of this layout that will feature my family playing in the river.  On this week’s project, I used the stamps to create parts of the title and add a fun embellishment to the page.  You can use this simple, rustic layout for any type of outdoor photos.  At the very bottom of this post, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this layout.

FlockTogetherLayout_PG2

Paper Needed: 12‚Ä≥ x 12‚Ä≥ Colonial White Cardstock, 12‚Ä≥ x 6″ ¬†B&T Paper (I used Enchantment Fundamentals), ¬†12‚Ä≥ x ¬ĺ‚Ä≥ B&T Paper (I used Rustic Home Fundamentals), (4) 3″ x 3″¬†Cardstock (I used Chocolate)

Here are a few techniques I used on this layout:

  • The ‘Wood’ border was created by using a scallop border punch on a 12‚Ä≥ x ¬ĺ‚Ä≥ piece of Rustic Home Fundamentals B&T paper.
  • The ribbon around the border is a piece of jute ribbon from the Rustic Fundamentals Ribbon pack. ¬†I cut the piece of ribbon in half to make it thinner, wrapped it around to the back the page, then created a knot.
  • The¬†title was created by combining fonts from the Artbooking and Artiste Cricut cartridges, then cutting them out from the¬†Enchantment Fundamentals B&T paper.
  • The hearts in the title were stamped using Fern ink and the Flock Together Stamp Set.
  • The tabs on to the upper right side of the page were cut from 2″ x 1″ pieces of¬†Enchantment Fundamentals and Rustic Fundamentals B&T paper. ¬†I rounded the corners using a corner rounder to create the look of a tabs which will be perfect to label the photo’s date or location.
  • The “Love This” embellishment was created using the Flock Together stamp set and Desert Sand Ink. ¬†I used a 1″ circle punch to cut the image from Colonial White Cardstock. To make the saying stand out, I used a Clay ShinHan Marker to trace the letters.

Techniques Used on this Card:

  • The ‘Mother Bird” was stamped using Peacock ink, then color was added using our Watercolor Pencils and Blending Pen.¬†AprilSOTM_BabyAnnouncementINSIDE
  • The ‘Baby Bird’ was stamped using Crystal Blue ink,¬†then color was added using our Watercolor Pencils and Blending Pen.
  • The inside of the card was created using the writing fonts from our Artistry and Flower Market Cricut cartridges. I used the writing feature in Design Space¬†with Black and Blueberry pens. The ‘Heart” image was stamped using Peacock ink.

Dreamin’ Big Penny Slider Card

This week’s Color My Heart Dare uses all of the warm, summer tones of our Dreamin’ Big paper collection. Each of our paper packets includes a set of Picture My Life (PML) cards, which are awesome, but are sometimes hard to use if you don’t scrapbook. This week, I decided to find a way to use this PML page to create a fun penny slider card. Our Thin Cuts made creating this card a breeze. You can get our Thin Cuts at a discount this month¬†and save on the supplies to recreate this card. ¬†As always, I‚Äôve included a list of the products I¬†have used to create this card at the very bottom of this post.

DBPennySliderCard

Paper Needed: 9¬Ĺ” x 4¬ľ” White Daisy Cardstock, 4″ x¬†4¬ľ” Black Cardstock, 1¬Ĺ” x 4¬ľ” B&T Paper (I used Dreamin’ Big), Dreamin’ Big PML sheet, 2″ x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock (Dragonfly)

Assembly Instructions:
1.¬†Score the¬†9¬Ĺ” x 4¬ľ” White Daisy Cardstock at 5¬Ĺ” on the long side. Fold to create the card base.
2.¬†Adhere the¬†1¬Ĺ” x 4¬ľ” B&T Paper horizontally to the bottom (inside) of the card.DBPennySliderInside
3. Cut the horizontal “Life is an Adventure” PML to 5¬ľ”. Center the PML on¬†the inside of the card and adhere so that the sentiment is hidden by the flap and the flowers show when the card is closed.
4. Stamp the “Dragonfly” image onto the¬†2″ x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock. Using a Cuttle Bug (or equivalent) with the ¬†Dragonfly Thin Cut, cutout the stamped image. NOTE: To create the multicolored image, I used strips of Slate, Sorbet, and Glacier Re-inkers to create a stamp pad on a baby wipe.¬†.
4. Using the large Circle Thin Cut with a Cuttle Bug (or equivalent), cut a 2¬Ĺ” circle out of the “Dream Big” PML making sure the sentiment is centered inside the circle.
5. Using a tool or machine of your choice, cut a 3″ circle out of the center of the¬†4″ x¬†4¬ľ” Black Cardstock. ¬†NOTE: If you own a Cricut, you can find the canvas here.
6. Cut out the 3″ x 4″ “Woodgrain” PML card. This is going to create the background behind the sentiment and it is an EXACT fit, so make sure it lines up ¬†with the circle cutout on the Black cardstock before adhering to the card front.
7. Using White Daisy Ink, stamp the “Insect Trail” around the edges of the¬†4″ x¬†4¬ľ” Black Cardstock. Place 3D Foam Tape along the edges on the back of the cardstock, then adhere to the front flap on the card.
8. Using a hole punch, cut a circle from the 3D Foam tape and adhere to the center of a penny. With the Foam Tape¬†facing upwards, place the edge of the penny under the Black Cardstock. Place 3D Foam Tape onto the back¬†of the “Dream Big” PML, avoiding the edges, then adhere to the center of the card. ¬†This will begin to¬†build the slider track.
9. Remove the backing from the penny’s foam pad and attach a second penny above it. Top with a pretty die-cut Dragonfly. CONGRATULATIONS!  You just made a slider card!

DBPennySliderSteps

A Cricut Design Space Canvas is available for $3.00 and includes the cuts for the card base, cards front, circles, and background. Email me to purchase the canvas.

Tea-rriffic Mother’s Day Card

The Tea-rriffic Stamp of the Month is the perfect set to have for creating Mother’s Day cards. ¬†This week, I paired the stamps with our Heart Thin Cuts (currently¬†25% off) to create this fun card for Mother’s Day. ¬† I‚Äôll be sharing project ideas throughout the month with this stamp set, so be sure to visit often.¬† At the very bottom of this post, I‚Äôve included a list of the products I¬†have used to create this card.

tearrifficmothersdaycard

Paper Needed: 5¬Ĺ” x 4¬ľ” B&T Paper (I used Adventure Fundamentals), 5¬ľ” x 4″ White Daisy Cardstock,¬†3¬ĺ” x ¬Ĺ”¬†B&T Paper (I used Adventure Fundamentals), 3¬Ĺ” x ¬Ĺ”¬†B&T Paper (I used Adventure Fundamentals), 4″ x 4″ White Daisy Cardstock, 3″ x 1¬Ĺ” Vellum (I used Uptown Fundamentals)

Assembly Instructions:
1. Adhere the¬†5¬Ĺ” x 4¬ľ” B&T Paper to the front of the card base.
2. Using Thin 3D Foam tape, adhere the¬†5¬ľ” x 4″ White Daisy Cardstock to the center of the B&T paper.
3. Cut a chevron into one of the shorter sides on both of the¬†¬Ĺ” B&T paper strips. Layer the B&T paper strips onto the bottom of the¬†5¬ľ” x 4″ White Daisy Cardstock.
4.¬†¬†Using the Black Pigment Ink pad, stamp the “Mother’s Day Teacup” and the “Teabag” images onto the 4″ x 4″ White Daisy Cardstock, then sprinkle on Clear Embossing Powder and shake off extra.¬† Heat with heat gun until it is embossed. NOTE: ¬†Use a small paint brush to brush off any unwanted embossing powder before heating.
5. Using ShinHan Markers, color the “Mother’s Day Teacup” and “Teabag” images, then cut them out.¬†Note: I did not cut out the handle of the teacup. I am lazy sometimes. ūüôā¬†teacupcoloring

6.¬†Using a Piercing Tool or small hole punch, create a hole in the “Teabag” image. Thread a piece of White Twine through the hole and create a knot at the end.
7. Using the Small Heart Thin Cut, make three small hearts from the vellum. (I am so excited that these are 25% off this month!)
8. Adhere the¬†“Mother’s Day Teacup” ¬†and the “Teabag” onto the card, as shown, using 3D Foam tape. To create the “rising hearts”, fold each heart in half and adhere to the card by placing a strip of Liquid Glass on the fold, then adhering to the card. Liquid Glass can also be used to hold the “Teabag” knot in place on the teacup.
