Storybook Vintage Layout

July is almost over and time is running out to purchase this awesome stamp set.  Throughout the month, I have posted some simple projects you can make using the Storybook Alphabet acrylic stamp set.  This week, I have created a vintage layout for my heritage album using some of our Basics Cardstocks and Rustic Home Fundamentals.  The ENTIRE Basics color palette is retiring this month as well as all of our Fundamentals B&T papers. Make sure to visit my website and order your Basics cardstock, inks, and reinkers, as well as your Fundamentals Papers before they are gone FOREVER.

StorybookVintageLayout.jpg

You can easily make this to a school page for your child by simply changing the color palette to primary colors or by shading in the letters. As always, I have created a list of items used on this layout at the very bottom of this post.

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ Cocoa Cardstock, 11½” x 11″ Cashmere Cardstock, 10″ x 5″ Sweet Leaf Cardstock, 7½” x 1″ B&T Paper (Basics Fundamentals), 8″ x 1″ B&T Paper (Basics Fundamentals)

Techniques Used on the Layout:
• The Storybook Alphabet letter stamps were placed randomly onto large 4″ x 5″ My Acrylix blocks, then stamped onto the background cardstock using Cocoa Ink.
StorybookVintageLayout_Block
• The edges were sponged with Cocoa Ink.  I also applied some Cocoa Ink with a sponge onto the letter background of the Sweet Leaf and Cashmere cardstock.
• The White Burlap Ribbon was attached using Micro Glue Dots.  The knot was tied separately, then adhered to the page with a Micro Glue Dot.
• The Rustic Fundamentals Vellum was attached using our Bonding Memories Glue Pen.  I applied the glue the full length of the vellum, allowed it to dry until it was tacky, then attached it the tie B&T paper strip.

Storybook Scrap Card

If you are like me, you have a pile of paper scraps that are never quite large enough to use on a project, but you save them just in case you need them.  Since I have made it a goal to start using up my supplies, I took out all off my Prickly Pear paper scraps and created some Thank You cards using our Storybook Alphabet stamp of the month.  These layered and crisscrossed cards are perfect for using up paper scraps and zip-strips.

StorybookScrapCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 11″ x 8½” Sapphire Cardstock,  ¾” B&T Paper Strips (Prickly Pear), 1¼ x 5½” B&T Paper (Prickly Pear), 1″ x 5½” White Daisy Cardstock

Tips for Creating this Card:
•  Choose four patterns for each card, then arrange the pattern how you would like it to appear on the card.  I chose either warm or cool color palettes.
•  Start from the bottom left corner and work your way up and across to create the desired pattern  I used our Bonding Memories Glue to prevent the smaller pieces from falling off, then trimmed all the ends once I had assembled the pattern.
•  The sentiment was stamped with Black Ink, then shaded with Watercolor Pencils.

Your imagination is your only limit. Create a variety of patterns and designs using this technique on your cards and scrapbook pages. I encourage you to use up some of your supplies this week, and post some of your creations on my Facebook page.  I can’t wait to see what you create.

Storybook Puppy Love

For all those fur parents out there, here is an adorable layout you can create using our Storybook Alphabet acrylic stamp set.  Over three years ago, we decided to adopt a dog that was found starving, sickly, and tattered along the roadside. She was so frightened when she came into our home and often hid whenever someone came into the house. Well, not only was she tattered, but we found out soon that she was pregnant. We made the decision to continue the pregnancy, assuming that nothing would survive, but a few months later we had six healthy puppies and , OF COURSE, we had to keep one.  God had a plan because six months later our two other dogs (ages 16 and 17) passed away.  We are true dog lovers in this home and I felt this layout is a perfect display of our love for those fur babies.

Storybook Alphabet Bookmarks

My goal this year has been to use up some of the “randomly acquired items” in my craft room.  I am very good at organizing my paper scraps and making sure all my embellishments are stored by color, shape, and size, but what I am NOT good at doing  is using them. This week’s project allowed me to use some of those “randomly acquired items” to create some effortless bookmarks with scripture and stamped phrases using the Storybook Alphabet acrylic stamp set.

During the month of July, I will be creating weekly projects using our July Stamp of the Month, Storybook Alphabet. Make sure to stop by each week for more ideas using this set.  As always, I’ve included a list of the products used to create this project at the very bottom of this post.

StorybookBookmarks.jpg

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ Cardstock (I used Kraft),  (5) 4″ x 1¾” B&T Paper (I used Prickly Pear)

Assembly Instructions:
To place the Bible verses onto each bookmark, I used the writing feature in Cricut® Design Space.  If you have never used the writing feature, you can view a tutorial HERE.

1. Cut five 6″ x 1¾” bookmarks from the Kraft cardstock. (NOTE: If you are using your Cricut®, create five 6″ x 1¾” rectangles then attach the text to each shape.)
2.  Using Black Ink, stamp the phrases onto each bookmark.

QUICK TIP: Our Acrylic Block have a groove line across the bottom of each block  to help you align your letter stamps.  The Storybook Alphabet set has a few letters, like the “R”, that would go off the edge of the block.  To solve this dilemma, I took a piece of Washi tape and placed it onto my block to create a line for my letters to sit upon.

StorybookBookmark_Block.jpg

3. Fold each of the 4″ x 1¾” B&T paper strips at 2″ (in half). Using a strong adhesive, attach the folded paper strips to the end to each bookmark, overlapped by about ½”.  I took advantage of our two-sided paper and folded up ends on one of the bookmarks to show off both patterns.
4. Using a hole punch, create a ¼” at the top of each bookmarks in the center. If desired, add an eyelet to each. (I have lots of these because at one time I had to have every shape, color and size available. )
5.  Thread twine through each hole (eyelet), and create a loop to attach.

Let your creativity flow and use up some of those “randomly acquired items” like Base and Bling charms, scraps of ribbon, or bits of string.

During the month of July, I will be creating weekly projects using the Storybook Alphabet stamp set. This week, I used the Art Philosophy Cricut® Cartridge to create a multi-layered Fourth of July card. This Pinterest inspired card could be altered by changing “USA” to a person’s initials or “I♥U”. You could also choose to give this card to active military personnel or a veteran as an appreciation for their service. As always, I’ve included a list of the products used to create this card at the very bottom of this post as well as a Cricut® Design Space link so that you can create this card.
