Love of Crafting Treats

Can you believe that August is almost over? I have been working away in my craft room trying to prepare for upcoming events, when I realized that this adorable stamp set will be gone in a few days. ūüėĘ Honestly, the For the Love of Crafting stamp set is one set I wish was available throughout the year.¬† I have been able to create so many projects with these sentiments and images.

s1808

Before the month ends, I had to show you one more project I have been working on for a special group of ladies.  These fabulous little treat bags were simple to create using the For the Love of Crafting stamp set and our Close to My Heart products.

LoveCraftingGoodies-misscarriescreations

I simply cut out the two tags from White Daisy & Poppy cardstock using images from our You Are Here Cricut‚ĄĘ collection. I brushed light blue¬†watercolor¬†onto both tag backgrounds to match the gift bags.¬† I then splattered red watercolor and¬†shimmer¬†onto the larger tag.¬† Once both tags were dry, I stamped each image in Memento Ink and shaded in the word “Glitter” using a Journaling Pen. I then added some more shimmer (of course) to the word “Glitter” to make it really stand out.

Add a few Black Dots, some leftover ribbon and twine, with, of course, chocolate, and these treats are all set to give away to some very deserving women.

If you haven’t had a chance to purchase the¬†For the Love of Crafting stamp set, make sure to get a hold of one before August 31st.¬† Many of our products, like the Poppy Cardstock & Memento Ink, are retiring at the end of the month. You can visit the GOING SOON section of my website to see a full list of the retiring products AND if your order totals $50.00 or more*, you can get the¬†For the Love of Crafting stamp set¬†for ONLY $5.00. ūüėĀ I can’t wait to see what you create with this set!

Birthday Time Treat Box

Throughout the month of March, I have been showing you various projects using our Birthday Time stamp of the month.¬†¬†s1803This stamp set h is full of images that you can use for birthdays, school photos, family celebrations, invitations, parties, and so much more.¬†¬†In my opinion, this stamp set is an incredible deal and defiantly one that you should add to your collection. If you have missed any of my previous projects using this stamp set, you can use the “Search” feature on the right and find more inspiring uses for our stamp of the month.¬†¬†You can avoid missing any future projects by “Following” my blog, Facebook page, or Instagram posts.¬†

To continue with the birthday theme this month, I chose to create a delightful little treat box that could be used for any of your upcoming birthday celebrations. These would also be fun to fill with goodies for a movie night, game day, or as a classroom treat. I have included the list of supplies used at the very bottom of this post for you.

BirthdayTimeTreatBox.jpg

I was able to find this sweet Popcorn Box SVG¬†and upload it directly into Cricut¬ģ Design Space. I resized the box image to 11.5″ wide, changed some of the “Cut” lines to “Score” lines in my Layers Panel, then cut out the image from White Daisy cardstock.¬† I decorated the outside of the box with our Stargazer¬†paper, a Ruby cardstock Rosette, Stargazer Complements, and the Birthday Time stamp set.

The Birthday Time stamp set is available for purchase on my website through March 31st.  You can purchase it for $17.95 or for only $5.00 with a qualifying $50.00 purchase.  I will be posting more projects using this stamp set throughout the month, so make sure to visit often.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Tuesday Tutorial

Cricut¬ģ Valentine Treasure¬†

During the month of December, I took time off from the Tuesday Tutorials to focus on family and the holidays.¬† Now that the New Year is here, I am excited to show you some more weekly tutorials.¬† I truly enjoy being able to show you how to create projects and gifts you can give to using your Cricut¬ģ machine and our Close to My Heart¬†Cricut¬ģ Collections.

ValentineTreasure

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I wanted to show you how to make this charming Valentine Treasure using images from our Flower Market Collection.¬† ¬†This holds a single Treasure candy that you can also decorate with patterned paper. As always, a list of products used on this project can be found at the very bottom of this post.

Cricut¬ģ Design Space Instructions:
1. Insert the¬†Special Delivery Tag – #MD402A2¬†and the Royal Crown – #MD4218A¬†images into your canvas.¬†Delete all the images except the “Tag” shape and “Crown Front”.
2. I wanted a fancier topper for my treat holder, so need to WELD the two images together.¬† Position the “Crown Front” over the top of the tag and resize as needed. SELECT ALL and WELD the two images together.

3. The candy I used measures 1¬≥‚ĀĄ8″ x 1″, so I am going to size the “Front” of the holder to 1.75″w and 2.75″h. UNLOCK the image and type in the measurement in the Edit Bar.
ValentingTreasure_Cricut3
4. DUPLICATE the image to create the “Back” of the holder. Choose FLIP the FLIP VERTICAL to make the “Back” of the holder upside-down.
ValentingTreasure_Cricut4
5. Insert a SQUARE shape and resize the SQUARE to¬†1.6″w x 1″h. (This needs to be the exact same width as the bottom of the “Front”.)
6.¬†Position the “Front”, “Base” and “Back” as shown, then SELECT ALL and ALIGN CENTER HORIZONTALLY.
ValentingTreasure_Cricut5
7. Move the images until all the edges touch, then SELECT ALL and WELD. (I used the Zoom feature for this step.)
ValentingTreasure_Cricut6

8. If needed, ROTATE the image 90′ so that is looks like the image above, and POSITION the image at X=0 and Y=1.
ValentingTreasure_Cricut7
9. INSERT a SCORE LINE then change the HEIGHT to 1.6″ and the POSITION to X=2.75 and Y=1.¬† DUPLICATE the SCORE LINE and change the POSITION to X=3.75 and Y=1.
10. SELECT ALL and ATTACH the Score Lines to the image.
ValentingTreasure_Cricut8

I added a Heart Border from the Artbooking Collection¬†and circles for the stamped image.¬† The treat holder is folded on the score lines, the treasure added inside, then held together with a brad and a ribbon on top.¬†This Valentine Treasure can be made using any stamp set you own.¬† I can’t wait to see what you create!

Punny & Smart Valentine Treat

Even though Valentine’s Day is over a month away, there are many people who like to plan ahead and create.¬† This week, I was playing around in Cricut¬ģ Design Space and decided to use the¬†A Little Bit of Pun stamp set to create a sweet Valentine treat.¬† At the very bottom of this post, you will find a list of the supplies I used to make these cards.
LIttleBitofPunValentines.jpg
Each month, I teach people how to use their Cricut¬ģ machines to create simple paper crafting projects.¬† I love watching people excited to learn something new, and enjoy seeing them take what they have learned an apply it to future projects.¬† This month, I will be teaching a Cricut¬ģ Design Space Basics class for those who recently purchased an Explore machine (or have had one sitting in a box for a while).¬† My hope is that you are able to learn how to use your machine with the Design Space program and create something amazing.

The cards I created above, use images from our Artistry cartridge.¬† I was able to manipulate the images, then add score, cut, and sliced images to create these adorable little valentines.¬† After the images were cut, I used our¬†A Little Bit of Pun stamp set to add those adorably “punny” sayings, a “to/from” on the back, and a “Happy Valentine’s Day” sentiment.
ALittleBitPunValentine_Detail

If you would like to make these adorable little cards, you can purchase the Cricut¬ģ Design Space file from me in my online Holiday Store or receive the file FREE with any purchase of $30.00 or more on my website.¬† (You will need to own the¬†Artistry cartridge to cut out the card and the sun shape.)

This layout was simple to make, and I truly love how it turned out.¬† ¬†Remember, the A Little Bit of Pun acrylic stamp set is only available until December 31st!¬† Contact me, or¬†visit the Promotions tab my website¬†to see how you can get this stamp set for¬†only $5.00.¬†I can’t wait to see what you create!¬†

Gratitude Treat Holders

I love giving gifts to my workshop and retreat attendees. It’s my way of saying “thank you” for taking the time to support me and my business. ¬†This week, I have been working on creating some gifts my upcoming retreat that didn’t require too much time or money, and, since most of us are limited on both of these, I thought I would share what I created using our Feel So Blessed stamp set and Cats & Bats paper packet.

GreatfulTreat.jpg

You will notice that the paper I used looks a little different from the one shown in the Holiday Expressions catalog. ¬†As a consultant, I have access to “bulk” papers which allows me to purchase a package of one paper design that I can use to make multiple projects. ¬†Contact me at misscarriectmh@gmail.com for more information about how you can have access to these bulk packets.

Paper Needed: 6″ x 6″ B&T Paper (Cats & Bats), 3″ x 4″ Cardstock (Colonial White/Almond), 4″ x 4″ Pomegranate, 2″ x 3″ Saffron, 2″ x 3″ Fern

Assembly Instructions:
1. Place a strip of glue or double sided tape along one side of the 6″ x 6″ B&T paper. ¬†Twist your paper until it resembles a cone shape and press in place to seal.
GreatfulTreat_Cone
2. Using the Your Are Here Cricut¬ģ cartridge cut out the “Tag” image and “Leaf” images. ¬†(You can access my Cricut¬ģ Design Space file here, but you must own the cartridge to cut out the images. ¬†You can purchase the Your Are Here Cricut¬ģ bundle on my website.)
3. Using Goldrush Ink, stamp the splattered background onto the tag.
4. Using Nutmeg Ink, stamp the “Thankful” sentiment onto the tag, then stamp the “Heart” image using Goldrush Ink.
5. Using Gold Ribbon, Gold Glitter Paper, or Gold Shimmer Trim, create a “Ribbon” at the top of the tag and staple in place using a Mini-Stapler.

6. Using the Buffalo Plaid and Leaf Embossing Folder, dry emboss the “Leaf” images.
7. Adhere all of the layers to the front of the cone using a strong adhesive.
8. Fill icing bags with the treat of your choice, tie a ribbon on the end, and trim as needed.  These fit perfectly inside of the cones.

Don’t forget that the Feel So Blessed stamp of the month is only available until September 30th. ¬†Visit the “Promotions” tab on my website to learn how you can purchase this stamp set for only $5.00.

Assembly Instructions:

CookieBoxDiagram
3. ¬†Using Sea Glass Ink, stamp the “Flower” image all along the edges.
4. Place the Sea Glass cardstock, stamped side up, and place a strong adhesive such as the Bonding Memories Glue on the each tab. Adhere the four tabs to create a ‚Äėbox‚Äô and the final two tabs to create a lid.
5.¬†Adhere the two 3¬Ĺ” x 3¬Ĺ” cardstock pieces to the inside of the box and lid to reinforce the box and protect it from butter in the cookie. If desired, stamp the “Thankful” sentiment and “Floral Garland” image onto the piece inside the lid.
6. Using Black Memento Ink, stamp the “Wreath” ¬†and “Hi” images onto the¬†3¬ľ” x 3¬ľ” White Daisy Cardstock.
7. Use a Blending Pen with Sea Glass, Blossom, Lemon, and Pansy Inks to shade the stamped images.
8. Layer the White Daisy cardstock onto the center of the Blossom cardstock, then adhere to the top of the box. (Check to make sure it’s going the right direction.) Add White Dots to the corners of the White Daisy cardstock.
9. Add a cookie and give to someone you are grateful for in your life.

Sweet Spring Basket

Do you need a quick, last minute treat for your Easter table? Do you enjoy giving little gifts to your co-workers and friends? This little Spring¬†Basket using our¬†Some Kinda’ Wonderful paper, is the perfect project for you. ¬†I was able to create this project in under 20 minutes, fill it will candy, and send it on its way. ¬†You can personalize this project by adding a cute name tag or gift card. ¬†I will be posting ideas for Easter treats all week so be sure to visit often.¬†At the very bottom of this post, I‚Äôve included a list of the products I¬†have used to create this project.
SpringBasket.jpg

Assembly Instructions:
1. Cut the Cupcake Wrapper and Circle from the B&T¬†paper using the Cricut¬ģ shape cuts listed below. NOTE: I was able to cut out three per 12″ x 12″ sheet.
2. Assemble the Cupcake Wrapper, then apply liquid glass (or hot glue) around the bottom edge.  Immediately, place the glue side down onto the Circle shape to create the base of the basket.
3. Cut a ¬Ĺ” x 8″ strip from B&T paper. ¬†Adhere the strip to the ¬†inside of the wrapper as shown to create the handle. ¬†Staple the ends in place. (Our mini stapler is perfect for this!)
SpringBasket_Handle
4. Tie two ¬†2″ pieces of ribbon into a decorative knot, then adhere to the sides of the basket to hide the staples. ¬†Trim the ends if needed.
5. Using the measurements below, cut out the Daisy shape from Raspberry cardstock.
6. Assemble the Daisy by layering the flowers largest to smallest. To curl the petals, use a bone folder or a quilling tool on the tips of the petals.  You can also add dimension to the flower by placing small strips of Thin 3D Foam tape between the layers.
7. Add a Black Dot to the center of the flower.
SpringBasket_Flower
8. Using the measurements below, cut out the Leaf shape from Willow cardstock. Adhere the Leaf to the back of the Daisy, then attach the flower to the side of the basket.
9. Fill with candy, trail mix, or gifts. Add a personalized name tag, if desired, and give to someone you care about.

Easter Bunny Treat Bag

I love giving out little treats at Easter, and this bag was simple and fun to create using the Close to My Heart Easter Bunny stamp set.  You can alter this bag and make it your own creation by simply changing the colors, the stamps used, or by adding a name to the front flap.  I will be posting ideas for Easter treats all week so be sure to visit often. At the very bottom of this post, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this project.

EasterBags

Assembly Instructions:
1. Cut a piece of cardstock to 8¬Ĺ” x 11″ ¬†(I used Glacier for the bag).
2. Score the cardstock on the long side at 1″, 4″, 6″ and 9″.
3. Score the shorter side at 2″ and 7″.
4. Fold up on each of the score marks, using a bone folder to burnish each of the folds.
5. Cut the cardstock in the places indicated in the picture below. NOTE: I cut my bottom flaps at a slight angle so that they fold neatly when creating the bag.
EasterBag_Score&Cut.jpg
6. If desired, use a corner rounder on the corners of the top flap.
7. Create the bag by adhering the 1″ flap to the inside of the bag using a strong adhesive, then fold the bottom flaps in and adhere them together. ¬†For a neater look, make sure the bottom front flap is adhered very last.
8. Slightly pinch the sides of the bag so that the top edges of the opening meet together, then fold the top flap down over the front of the bag and seal using a hook & loop dot.
EasterBag_SideFold.jpg
9. Cut a piece of cardstock at 1¬ľ” x 3″ to create the decorative strip for the top flap. (I used Canary cardstock.) ¬†If desired, use a corner rounder on the bottom two corners, then stamp your desired sentiment.
10. Attach the cardstock strip to the top flap, then wrap twine around the flap and tie in a decorative knot or bow.
EasterBag_TopFlap
11. Using the Easter Bunny stamp set, stamp the desired images onto White Daisy cardstock, then shade the images using ShinHan markers. Cut out the images and adhere them to the front of the bag using Foam Tape.
EasterBag_BunnyImage.jpg

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS: On the Thistle bag, I used the Flock Together stamp set to create the heart background with Pansy ink. ¬†I cut out a 2¬ľ” scallop circle from Pansy cardstock, then a 2″ circle from White Daisy cardstock to create the tag on the front of the box. ¬†Both of these shapes came from the Art Philosophy Cricut¬ģ cartridge. ¬†The sentiment was created using the writing feature in Cricut¬ģ Design Space.

Carrot Treat Box

A few years back, I created a bunch of these cute carrot boxes to give as gifts to friends and family at Easter. They are simple to make and fun to fill.  I received a request to re-create these little gems and re-post how to make them.  I will be posting ideas for Easter treats all week so be sure to visit often.

CarrotBox

At the very bottom of this post, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this project.

Assembly Instructions:
1. Cut the ‘Carrot’ box from Tangerine cardstock. Fold on each of the score lines¬†using the bone folder to press the folds down. Adhere the side of the box closed using a strong adhesive on the flap.

CarrotBoxStepOne

The box was cut from the retired Artist Cricut cartridge, but if you don’t have this cartridge, you can find many templates available online and cut them out by hand.¬†

2. Assemble the tag by layering the White Daisy tag shape onto the center of the Crystal Blue tag shape. Assemble the ‘Tulip’ and adhere to the center of the tag, then assemble the ‘Happy Easter’ sentiment and adhere to the base of the tag. ¬†Add ribbon and twine to the tag.

CarrotBoxTag

3. ¬†Using a bone folder, curl the tips of the ‘Holly’ shapes. ¬†AFTER you have filled the box with treats, staple the ‘Holly’ shapes in-between the two top flaps. ¬†Add a Jute Ribbon bow to cover the staple.

CarrotBoxStepTwo

4. If desired, wrap some jute twine around the top of the box three times.  Attach the tag to the box using the jute twine.
