Live Tutorials Coming Soon

I enjoy writing each weekly Tuesday Tutorial as much as you enjoy reading them, but sometimes it would be so much easier to show them to you. So, I have decided to start a Facebook Group called “Create with Miss. Carrie’s Creations” where you can view a few of my tutorials “Live” and enroll in some of my online workshops. Don’t panic! I will still be writing a few tutorials on my blog here and there, but I would love the chance to show you HOW I make some of my paper crafting projects.  Are you ready to find out what the first tutorial will be? ABigThankYouSilverHeartCard_misscarriectmh.com

My first “Live” class will show you how to create the amazing Inked Background on this Big Thank You card. Many of you have commented on my inked backgrounds and have asked me “HOW ” I make them. Well, here is your chance to learn!

Date: August 23rd
Time: 10:00am (MST)

You can come in your comfy clothes and learn how to create this card in my online class that will take place on my private Facebook group. To join the class, simply use this link to sign-up and I will send you an invite to the private class group, email you a supply list and a $5.00 invoice for the cost of the class. How easy is that?

What if you are working, or on vacation, or the kids start the house on fire during the class? You can still sign-up! Once you have paid for your class, you will be invited to the private group and will be able to view the live class for up to 30 days after the day of the event.  So grab a cup of coffee (or tea if you must), relax in your comfy clothes, and enjoy some crafting time with Miss. Carrie’s Creations.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Thankful Color Dare Card

In the midst of all that is going on, I am truly Thankful that God has blessed me with a home business that allows me to step back, focus on family, and make sure my priorities are in check. This week, in the midst of the madness, I wanted to create a card that expressed how Thankful I feel, so for this week’s Color My Heart Dare challenge I chose to use our exclusive Solo stamps to make this beautiful card using Bashful, Mink, and Pacifica.

ThankfulColorDareCard

I would love for you to take the time to recreate this card and let someone know how Thankful you are for them. It’s very easy to recreate using our exclusive Solo stamps, Central Park Paper Pack, and the assembly instructions below.

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Card Base, 5 ³⁄8″ x 4¹⁄8″ Bashful Glitter Paper, 5¼” x 4″ Bashful Dotted B&T (Central Park), 2″ x 4″ Pacifica Dashed B&T (Central Park), 4″ Mink Zip-Strip (Central Park), 3″ x 1½” White Daisy Cardstock, ¾” x 2″ Bashful Glitter Paper, ½” x 2″ White Daisy Cardstock

Assembly Instructions:
1. Using the Basic Hearts Thin Cuts, cut out the two heart images from the 5¼” x 4″ Bashful Dotted B&T.
2. Adhere the 5¼” x 4″ Bashful Dotted B&T onto the 5 ³⁄8″ x 4¹⁄8″ Bashful Glitter Paper.
3. Using a Stitch Guide and Piercing & Embossing Tool, create a set of holes around the paper that you can stitch Grey thread through. Add the stitching around the card, then adhere to the White Card Base.
4. Using the Stitched Heart Thin Cuts, cut out the two heart images from the 2″ x 4″ Pacifica Dashed B&T. Adhere the Pacifica Hearts into the centers of the Bashful Heart cut-outs.
5. Adhere the 4″ Mink Zip-Strip across the base of the card.
6. Using Pacifica Ink, stamp the Solos “T” onto the 3″ x 1½” White Daisy Cardstock. (Don’t forget! This stamp set is only available until July 31st.)
7. Using VersaMark Ink, stamp the “Flower Thanks” image onto the “T”, sprinkle with White Embossing Powder, and Heat-Set with a Craft Heater. Cut out the “T” image and adhere to the card using 3D Foam Tape.
8. Using Pacifica Pigment Ink, stamp the “thankful” sentiment onto the  ½” x 2″ White Daisy Cardstock. Sprinkle the image with Clear Embossing Powder and Heat-Set with a Craft Heater.
9. Cut a Chevron to the right of the “thankful” sentiment and cut a Chevron onto the shorter end of the ¾” x 2″ Bashful Glitter Paper. Layer the two and adhere to the card using Thin 3D Foam Tape.
10. Add three Documented Dots, and stamp a sentiment inside the card.

Don’t forget that the Solo Stamps I used on this card are only available through July 31st. All of our stamp sets including the Solo Stamp are Buy Two Get One FREE during our July Stampaganza, so make sure you stock up on your favorites.

I am truly Thankful  to have each of you who continue to support my business. You, who patiently follow, even though my posts have been sporadic.  You, who, in the midst of your own madness, continue to pray for my family.  I am truly blessed and Thankful.

I can’t wait to see what you create!

Using A Big Thank You Thin Cuts

This week,  I am taking a break from the Cricut®. This is partially due to the fact that I cannot get to my machine because of the pile of Convention creations blocking my path, but mostly, it is because I have realized that many of you do not use Design Space™ and I hate the idea of you feeling left out each week.  So, for this week’s Tuesday Tutorial, we are going to play with metal dies, specifically the New A Big Thank You Thin Cut.

ABigThankYouCards

This Thin Cut is a 3¾” x 5″ metal die that creates a wonderfully designed image perfect for making quick cards and gifts. Our Thin Cuts are well designed, sturdy, and cut through cardstock, glitter paper, and watercolor paper with very little effort.  Are the hamster wheels in your brain beginning to turn?  Let’s dust off those cobwebs, and let me show you a few other ways to create with this Thin Cut.

9a141034-b260-4d47-9223-c2704d5f58d7JUST ADD INK
This Thin Cut can hold it’s own, but can really pop with some inking techniques.  You can do this by using our Exclusive Inks on the background of the card, or like I did, add ink to the image itself.  Feeling a little intimidated? I will be teaching a online class soon showing you how to create this background. (Watch my Facebook page for details.)

product imageADD PATTERNED PAPER
Whether you cut the image from paper or use paper for a background, this image does well when you add a little bit of pattern to it.  I chose to use our Central Park Paper as the background for one of the cards. How cute would this image be cut from the Pink Polka-Dotted paper in this pack? (off to make another card…)

SPARKLE AND SHINE
Even though this Thin Cut is one complete image, you can still add a little “Bling” and make it really stand out using our Shimmer Brushes, Embossing Powder, Glitter Paper, or Foil Paper.  As you can see, I created two inset hearts for my cards. One was cut from Poppy Cardstock that was shaded with a Clear Shimmer Brush.  The other heart was inked with VersaMark Ink, and sprinkled with Silver Embossing Powder that was set with a Craft Heater. (This look could be replicated by using Silver Foil Paper instead.)

INSET THE IMAGE
After cutting out one of the images from Black Cardstock, I saved the negative pieces and used them to inset the cutout into the cardstock on my second card.  This took a little patience, some Tweezers, and tape, but it turned out wonderfully.  You could choose to inset the whole image, a portion of the image, or just the frame. (Oh! I can hear those rusty wheels starting to spin.)

ABigThankYouInsetCard_misscarriectmh.com

I know this Tuesday Tutorial was a little different than ones I have written in the past, but I was really feeling sorry for those non-Cricuters.  If you are loving how simply you can create a card with our A Big Thank You Thin Cut, you should also consider purchasing the It’s Your Day Thin Cut which is perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and more.  This Thin Cut would also make a wonderful title for a scrapbook page. (WOW! I think I smell smoke coming from those hamster wheels.) I can’t wait to see what you create!

You Are Awesome Card

Do you know someone who is just amazingly awesome? I believe that it is good to recognize those who have blessed you with their friendship, willingness to listen, and ability to tolerate you.  This week, I created a card that you can give those awesome people using the a sentiment and little girl image from our A Bushel & a Peck stamp set.  Isn’t this just adorable?!  I love the combination of Glacier and Bashful together. If you would like to recreate this card you can find the list of supplies I used at the bottom of this post.

AwesometotheCoreCardBLOG

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Card Base, 5¼” x 4″ B&T (Blue Leaf Fresh Air), 4¾” x 3¼” Glacier Cardstock, 4¼” x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock, 4″ x 2¾” B&T (Pink Beautiful Freindship), White Daisy Cardstock for stamped image

Techniques & Tips Just for You:
• The Glacier cardstock was embossed using a small dots embossing folder.
• I curved the sentiment and placed it onto a block before stamping it onto the B&T paper with Black Ink.
• Here is a list of the ShinHan™ markers used:  Mahogany, Bronze, Clay, Light Orange, Pastel Peach, Tender Pink, Cerulean Blue Light, Turquoise Blue, Colorless Blender

I hope you take some time to create a few of these cards to give to those who are willing to put up with your nonsense. 😉  Remember, this exclusive  A Bushel & a Peck stamp set is only available through June 30th for $17.95 on my website or for only $5.00 with a qualifying purchase.  I can’t wait to see what you create with our Stamp of the Month.

Thanks A Bushel Card

If you are like me, you always have a need for Thank-You cards, so, this week, I created a few using the adorable images and a sentiment from our exclusive A Bushel & a Peck stamp set. I love sending happy mail to customers, especially homemade cards, but each one needs to be quick to make as well as fun to receive.   This card defiantly “fits the bill” – quick to create, easy to assemble, and ready to send.  If you would like to recreate this card you can find the list of supplies I used at the bottom of this post, along with a few techniques to help you complete a few thank- cards to add to your collection.

ThanksABushelCardPaper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Card Base, 5¼” x 4″ B&T (Green Fresh Air), 4¾” x 3½” B&T (Burlap Fresh Air), 2½” x 2½” B&T (Green Fresh Air), 1½” x 4″ Espresso Cardstock, White Daisy Cardstock scraps

Techniques Used:
• The circle was created using a 2¼” Stitched Circle Thin Cut cut in half.
• The background on the Espresso cardstock was created by randomly stamping the “Blowing Leaf” image onto the Espresso cardstock with VersaMark™ Ink, then it was sprinkled with White Embossing Powder and heat applied with a Craft Heater.
• Three stands of New England Ivy Twine was wrapped around the shorter ends of the Espresso cardstock.
• Color was added to the apples using ShinHan™ markers. Each of the apples was shaded fully with Cherry Pink, then I used Carmine to add shadows and a Colorless Blender to add light reflections. I shaded the “Leaves” with Sap Green.
• I used the Bronze and Clay ShinHan™ markers to shade the “Basket” then used Sap Green and Pastel Green to finish the details.

How cute would this look if you made the apples bright green? Or added a stitched border? Your imagination is your only limitation. I hope you take some time to create a few Thank-You cards using the A Bushel & a Peck stamp set. This exclusive stamp set is only available through June 30th for $17.95 on my website or for only $5.00 with a qualifying purchase.  I can’t wait to see what you create with our Stamp of the Month.

Tone-On-Tone Thankful Card

Monochromatic cards can be the most stunning cards, but they can also be difficult to create as you try to find a balance.  This week’s Color My Heart Dare challenge is “Pick your own Red” using Poppy, Ruby, Cranberry with optional Gold. As I attempted to mix various red tones along with some tone-on-tone stamping, I came across a wonderful tutorial that gave instructions for creating a background with stencils and clear embossing powder. The dusty wheels in my brain began to spin, and this card emerged using some of the same techniques with an embossing folder. You can find the complete list of supplies I used on this card at the very bottom of this post.

ToneOnToneThankfulCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Card Base, 5³⁄8″ x 4¹⁄8″ Ruby Cardstock, 4″ x 1½” Ruby Cardstock, 4″ x 1½” White Daisy Cardstock, 6″ x 1″ Vellum

Assembly Instructions:
1. Prepare your 5³⁄8″ x 4¹⁄8″ Ruby cardstock using an anti-static bag. (You can find more information about this bag as well as a few tips for heat embossing on one of my earlier posts here. )
2. Open the Rose Embossing Folder and generously apply VersaMark™ Ink onto the top portion of the folder.
3. Carefully place the Ruby cardstock onto the bottom half of the folder.  You will need to make sure that 1½” of the cardstock will be sticking out from the bottom of the folder to prevent any ink from getting onto the top portion of the cardstock. (If desired you can use a temporary adhesive to keep the cardstock in place.)
4. Close the folder and be extremely careful not to move the cardstock. Apply pressure to the embossing folder to “stamp” the cardstock.  You can use a Brayer, a rolling pin, or place the folder onto a texture pad and run it through an embossing machine.  You DO NOT want to dry emboss the card.
5. Remove the cardstock from the Rose Embossing Folder and sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder.  Tap of the excess, then heat with a Craft Heater until the powder is melted.
ToneOnToneThankfulCard_Detail
6. Cut out the “Thankful” Thin Cut sentiment from both the Ruby and White Daisy cardstock. Layer the two images and adhere to the top of the card.
7. Cut out the “Ribbon Border” Thin Cut from Vellum and attach to the card by wrapping the ends around the Ruby cardstock and adhering in place. (If desired, use a Gold Shimmer Brush on the Vellum Ribbon Border.)
8. Adhere the Ruby cardstock onto the card base, then add three White Dots, as shown.

The stunning tone-on-tone pattern created with Clear Embossing Powder adds texture and depth to this card.  I would love to see some of your monochromatic creations and have you join me  for this week’s Color My Heart Dare.

Don’t forget that the “Thankful” Thin Cuts used on this card along with many more of our Thin Cuts are on sale this month during our Die-Namite Sale.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Don’t Reinvent the Wheel

There are times I need a card and I have absolutely no inspiration.  I spend hours searching online only to find that I just saved sixteen dog related pins, a gluten-free cookie recipe, and watched a video on how to organize a refrigerator.  Today, I needed a few Thank-You cards and, instead of browsing the internet, I decided to copy a card I made earlier this week.

GoldOverlayCards.jpg

For some recent online challenges I created a simple Bright & Sunny Thoughts card using an overlay.  I enjoyed the look of that overlay, so I decided to create another one, this time with Gold Foil paper and a Gold Embossed sentiment.  The first card was created using White Daisy cardstock, but, even though I like the simplicity, I like the combination of Pink & Gold on second card much more.  Both cards turned out wonderfully, and I didn’t have to reinvent a design – I just used what I already had in my book of tricks.

Speaking of book… if you love not having to “reinvent the wheel” you should check out our new Make It From Your Heart™ Volume 4 Idea Book.   This How-To Book fits inside our Everyday Life™ albums and includes 24 amazing card patterns.  You can view more of what this How-To Book has to offer at the Make It From Your Heart Blog.

You don’t have to reinvent the wheel when it comes to card making.  All you need to do is pull from your own imagination and use a few simple tools like our How-To Books.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Bright Sunny Thoughts Card

Throughout the month of February, I have been creating projects that you can make using our Sunny Thoughts stamp of the month.  This week, in spite of the freezing 1° weather outside, I have created these warm, cheery cards for some weekly challenges.  As always, a list of supplies used on this project can be found at the very bottom of this post.SunnyThoughtsCards

Paper Needed: 4¼” x 5½” White Daisy Card Base, 4″ x 4″ Canary Cardstock, 4″ x 4″ Cranberry Cardstock, Blue Shimmer Trim

For this week’s Color My Heart Color Dare challenge we are required to use Pacifica, Cranberry, Canary, and (optional) Gold.  BrightSunnyThoughtsCardThese colors reminded me of playful florals, so I choose to create a card that would reflect the “sunny” days ahead.  I created an overlay using our Artistry Cricut® collection, added some blue shimmer trim, and a “Sunny Thoughts” sentiment.  To add even more “shine”, I painted the Cranberry overlay with our Gold Shimmer Brush.  This card was also the perfect project to enter into the Heart2Heart Sunny Days challenge.  It is so bold and vibrant and much needed in the darkness of winter.

I hope that you choose to join me in one of these weekly challenges.  Don’t forget to order your Sunny Thoughts stamp set before February 28th.  Visit the Promotions tab my website to see how you can get this stamp set for only $5.00.  Come back each week for more ideas and tutorials.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Sunny Thoughts Pocket Card

Throughout the month of February, I will be creating projects that you can make using our Sunny Thoughts stamp of the month.  This week, I created an adorable pocket card using some sentiments and images from this stamp set.  You can find the list of supplies used on this project at the very bottom of this post.

SunnyThoughtsPocketCard.jpg

I chose to use the floral patterned paper from the Make Waves collection along with some Bashful cardstock. Did you know that our Bashful products are on sale this month? During our Pretty in Pink sale you can save up to 30% on most of our Pink and Gold products.

Tips and Tricks in Cricut® Design Space:
• The “Sleeve” was created from the Flower Wreath Sleeve Card – #M101077 from our Artfully Sent Collection.  I resized the image to 8.75″w x 5.75″h then used Contour to remove the “Wreath” and Slice with an oval & square to manipulate the image.
• My “Card” was created from the 3X4 Pocket Card – #M17D261 resized to 4″w x 5.5″h.
• The Circles for the sentiment were sized at 2″ and 2.25″.  I used the “Thank You” sentiment from the Sunny Thoughts stamp set.

Don’t forget to order your Sunny Thoughts stamp set before February 28th!  Visit the Promotions tab my website to see how you can get this stamp set for only $5.00.  Visit my blog each week for more ideas and tutorials.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Simply Punny Cards

I must admit that when I opened up the A Little Bit of Pun stamp set and saw “Happy Valentine’s Day”, I thought “Just let me get through Christmas”.  Most people like to plan ahead, but me, well, I’m grateful when I remember to celebrate the holidays on the days their supposed to be celebrated.  As I plan my monthly projects,  I like to be able to show you what you can make using our stamp of the month, so this week I created some Simply Punny cards that you can give for just about any occasion. (even Valentine’s Day) As always, I’ve included a list of the products used to create these cards at the very bottom of this post.

LittleBItofPunCards.jpg

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Card Base, 5½” x 4¼” Cardstock, 5¼” x 4″ B&T Paper, 3″ x 4¼” Cardstock, 3¼” x 4½” White Daisy Cardstock, 2¼” x 2¼” Cardstock, 2″ x 2″ White Daisy Cardstock, ¼” x 12″ Silver Glitter Paper

Techniques Used:
•  I used Black Memento Ink to randomly stamp the images onto the 3¼” x 4½” White Daisy Cardstock, then shaded the images using our Watercolor paints.
After painting the images, I splattered Watercolor onto the White Daisy cardstock background.
The circles were cut using our Basic Circles Thin cuts, then attached to the card using 3D Foam Tape.

These cards are simple to make and fun to give.  I plan on sending mine out as holiday thank-yous.  Remember, the A Little Bit of Pun acrylic stamp set is only available until December 31st!  Contact me, or visit the Promotions tab my website to see how you can get this stamp set for only $5.00.

I can’t wait to see what you create!
