Paper Bird Watercolor Card

It’s time for the weekly Color My Heart Dare project and this week was quite the challenge for me.  I rarely combine cool and warm colors, yet this week we were required to use Poppy, Tangerine, Willow, Glacier, Slate and White Daisy with optional Gold. My solution was to create a “cool” look to the color palette by using our Watercolor paints and keeping the accents simple.  Using the Paper Bird stamp set allowed me to create accents with simple, uncomplicated details.  This stamp set is only available during the month of July for our Buy Two Get One FREE Stampagaza event.

PaperBirdWatercolorCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” Slate Cardstock, 5¼” x 4″ B&T Paper (Script Uptown Fundamental), 4½” X 3¼” Watercolor Paper

Techniques Used:
•
The “Paper Bird” image was stamped onto the Uptown Fundamental Vellum using Black Memento Ink then heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.
•  The “Paper Heart” was stamped with VersaMark Ink onto State Cardstock, then heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.
•  The striped background was created with Watercolor Paints onto the 4½” X 3¼” Watercolor Paper, then was cut 1″ from the bottom after it dried.
•  The edges of the Watercolor paper and Heart Image were distressed with the Edge Distresser.

Storybook Puppy Love

For all those fur parents out there, here is an adorable layout you can create using our Storybook Alphabet acrylic stamp set.  Over three years ago, we decided to adopt a dog that was found starving, sickly, and tattered along the roadside. She was so frightened when she came into our home and often hid whenever someone came into the house. Well, not only was she tattered, but we found out soon that she was pregnant. We made the decision to continue the pregnancy, assuming that nothing would survive, but a few months later we had six healthy puppies and , OF COURSE, we had to keep one.  God had a plan because six months later our two other dogs (ages 16 and 17) passed away.  We are true dog lovers in this home and I felt this layout is a perfect display of our love for those fur babies.

Live, Laugh, Love with Watercolor

I love the look of watercolors, and though I have not perfected this medium, I do love that it is very forgiving.   This week’s Color My Heart Dare challenge gave me the freedom to experiment with my  watercolor palette and use lots of colors on the flowers from the Live, Laugh, Love Stamp of the Month.  This stamp set is available for purchase until May 31st , so make sure to get your’s before it is gone.   As always, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this card at the very bottom of this post.MaySOTM_WatercolorCard

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Card Base, 5½” x 4¼” Watercolor Paper

Assembly Instructions:
1. Using Black Memento Ink, stamp the “Flower” images vertically onto the left side of the Watercolor paperMaySOTM_WatercolorCardMASK. NOTE: I stamped the center flower first, created a mask with a sticky note, then stamped the remaining flowers.
2. Create a mask to cover the stamped flower images, then splatter a variety of Watercolor paint colors onto the right side of the Watercolor paper.  Allow the paint to dry before continuing.
3. Remove the mask, and use Watercolor paints to shade in the flower images. NOTE: I used a Clear Shimmer Brush on my flower images after the paint dried.
4. Once the images have dried, add Bitty Sparkles to the center of the flower images.
5. Using Black Memento Ink, stamp a sentiment onto the Watercolor paper.
6.  Adhere the Watercolor paper to the front of the Card Base, then stamp a sentiment inside the card.

Live, Laugh, Love Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  We will be featuring May’s Stamp of the
Month, Live, Laugh, Love, which is designed with spring in mind. This set is full of2017MaySOTM whimsical flowers and words that can be used for multiple paper crafting projects.  If you have come here from Krista Hershberger’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog.  This blog hop is designed to allow you to start here and work your way around. It’s simple, fun, and full of ideas.

If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog: http://ifyoublingit.blogspot.com/p/stamp-of-month-blog-hop-list.html.

During the month of May, I will be featuring  projects using the Live, Laugh, Love stamp set. This week, the floral “LOVE” sentiment  inspired me to create a softly shaded wedding card.  AS always, I’ve included a list of the products I used to create this card at the very bottom of this post.

LoveWeddingCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Daisy Cardstock, 5½” x 4¼” B&T Paper (I used Whimsy Fundamentals),  (2) 1″ x 4¼” B&T Paper (I used Whimsy Fundamentals), (2) 2″ x 4¼” B&T Paper (I used Whimsy Fundamentals), 2″ x 2″ White Daisy Cardstock, 5½”x 5¼” Acetate (I used a cover from a discarded Cricut® mat)

Assembly Instructions:
1.  With the 5¼” side at the top, score the Acetate at 4¼”.
2.  Using a strong adhesive, adhere the (2) 1″ x 4¼” B&T paper strips horizontally along the top, to the left of the score line, onto the front and back of the acetate.
3. Using Black Memento Ink, stamp “Together” horizontally onto one of the 2″ x 4¼” B&T paper strips.
4. Using a strong adhesive, adhere the (2) 2″ x 4¼” B&T paper strips horizontally along the bottom, to the left of the score line, onto the front and back of the acetate making sure that the stamped sentiment is on the front of the card. Set aside to dry completely.
5. Using Black Memento Ink, stamp “LOVE” onto the center of the 5½” x 4¼” White Daisy Cardstock approximately 1½” from the top.  Shade in the flowers using Watercolor Pencils and a Small Round Waterbrush. I used Crystal Blue, Citrus Leaf, Sorbet, and Sunny Yellow. NOTE: I find that it works best to use the pencils more like a palette.
6.  You should have a 1″ strip of Acetate on the right side of the card. Using a strong adhesive, adhere the 5½” x 4¼” White Daisy Cardstock to the Acetate to create the inside of the card, then adhere the, 5½” x 4¼” B&T paper to create the back of the card. Once dry, close the card using a Bone Folder to burnish the fold.
7. Using Black Memento Ink, stamp the “Striped Flower” and two “Leaf” images onto the 2″ x 2″ White Daisy cardstock. Shade in the images using Watercolor Pencils and a Small Round Waterbrush. I used Citrus Leaf, Sorbet, Honey, and Sunny Yellow. Cut out the images and adhere to the card using Thin 3D Foam tape.
8.  If desired, use a Corner Rounder on each of the corners of the card.  Add three small White Dots onto the card as shown.

You can continue through the blog hop and see more ideas from approximately twenty Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month’s Stamp of the Month and other great Close to My Heart products on their blogs.

Tea-rriffic Party Layout

The Tea-rriffic Stamp of the Month can be used to create some sweet scrapbook layouts.  On this week’s project, I used  the stamps to create a border and title, then used watercolors on the images.  The layout is bright and cheerful just like my daughter when she had her weekly tea parties. (Now I need to get those photos printed.)    At the very bottom of this post, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this layout.

TeaPartyLayout.png

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ Pixie Cardstock, 12″ x 10″ White Daisy Cardstock ,  12″ x 6″ Watercolor Paper, 12″ x 6″ Black Cardstock, 12″ x 3″ Crystal Blue Cardstock

teacupborder

Here are a few techniques I used on this layout:

  • The Pixie Cardstock background was splattered with White Watercolor Paint. I used a medium watercolor brush, lots of water, and tapped the brush to create splatters.
  • The Teacup Border was created by randomly stamping the “Teacup” and “Flower” images with Black Pigment Ink onto Watercolor Paper, then heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.  I used Watercolor Paints on each of the images, then splattered Black Watercolor Paint onto the border with a medium watercolor brush. The image was hand-cut, placed onto Black Cardstock and hand-cut again to create the matting.
  • The photo mat was created by welding an Art Philosophy border onto the top and bottom of a 12″ x 4½” rectangle. TeaPartyLayoutTitle.jpg
  • The “Tea Party” title was created on Cricut Design Space using the layering and
flattening techniques. I used a system font called Curls MT, so the file can’t be shared. I will be teaching this techniques to make titles like this at my summer Cricut classes.

I love using our Thin Cuts to create paper crafting projects. Thin Cuts are easy to use, versatile, and currently 25% off  and you can get this set FREE by signing up to be a Close to My Heart Consultant during the month of March. This week I created an adorable birthday card using the Sweet Birthday stamp set and matching Thin Cuts.  You can order these as a bundle during our Cut It Out campaign.  I’ll be sharing project ideas throughout the month using our Thin Cuts,  so be sure to visit often.  At the very bottom of this post, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this card.

CupcakeCard

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Daisy Cardstock, 5½” x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock, 4½” x  ½” B&T Paper (I used a Sugar Rush Zip Strip), 3″ x 3″ B&T Paper (I used Sugar Rush), 3″ x 2″ B&T Paper (I used Sugar Rush), 5½” x ¾” B&T Paper (I used Sugar Rush),  5½” x ¾” B&T Paper (I used Sugar Rush), 2¼”  x 1¼” B&T Paper (I used Sugar Rush) 2″ x 1″ White Daisy Cardstock

Assembly Instructions:
1. Using a pencil, draw a line at horizontally 1¾”  from the top of the 5½” x 4¼” White Daisy Cardstock.
2. Place the “Cupcake” Thin Cut onto the center of the 5½” x 4¼” White Daisy Cardstock.

3. Using a Cuttle Bug (or equivalent), cut out the “Cupcake” image up to the 1¾” line.
4. Remove the remaining cardstock around the “Cupcake”creating a straight edge on the 1¾” line.
5. Using a Bone Folder and ruler, create a score line along the longer side of the 5½” x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock at ½”. Fold the ½” up and attach to the back of “Cupcake” cardstock, lining up the edges, to create a card. Use a strong adhesive such as Bonding Glue or B&B Tape to keep the card from coming apart. CupcakeCardStepThree
6. Cut Chevrons into the shorter ends of the 4½” x  ½” B&T Paper. Adhere to the top of the card, centering it under the “Cupcake” cutout.
7. Using Black Ink, stamp the “Cupcake” image onto the 3″ x 3″ B&T Paper. Place the “Cupcake” Thin Cut onto the image, then use the Cuttle Bug (or equivalent) to cut out the “Cupcake” from the B&T paper.
8. Using Pomegrante Ink, stamp “Sprinkles” onto the frosting of the cupcake image. Adhere the “Cupcake” cutout onto the card.
9. Using Black Ink, stamp the bottom half of the “Cupcake” image onto the 3″ x 2″ B&T Paper. Place the “Cupcake” Thin Cut onto the image, then use the Cuttle Bug (or equivalent) to cut out the “Cupcake” from the B&T paper. Trim off the excess and layer over the previously placed B&T paper. NOTE: I used an Ocean Watercolor Pencil with the Small Round Waterbrush to add color to the dots.
10. Adhere the 5½” x ¾” B&T Paper along the bottom of the card.  Place a 5½” strip of Sugar Rush Washi Tape along the top of the 5½” x ¾” B&T Paper.
11. Using Black Ink, stamp the sentiment onto the 2″ x 1″ White Daisy Cardstock. Adhere the sentiment onto the center of the 2¼”  x 1¼” B&T Paper, then adhere to the card using Thin 3D Foam Tape.
12. Add Sugar Rush Dots onto the Cupcake. If desired, stamp a sentiment or image inside the card. NOTE: I used Sugar Rush Washi Tape to cover the inside flap.

Tea-rrific Tea Party Treat

For this week’s Color My Heart Dare Challenge, I used the  Tea-rriffic stamp set to create some fun tea party treats. One side of these little treats holds a tea bag while the other holds a 3 x 3″ note card, plus there are cookies in the center.   These little treats are perfect  for your own Mother’s Day tea party or as a shower favor. At the very bottom of this post, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this project.
TeaBagTreatHolder
Paper Needed: 12″ x 8½” B&T Paper (I used Enchantment Fundamentals), 6″ x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock, 3″ x ½” B&T Paper (I used Enchantment Fundamentals), 2¾” x 2¾” Glitter Paper ( I used Sea Glass), 2½” x 2½” Watercolor Paper

Assembly Instructions:
1. Score the shorter side of the 12″ x 8½” B&T Paper 2½” and 6″. Score on long side at 1¼”, 2½”, 5, 7, 9½” and 10¾”.
2. Cut the 2½” x 2½” squares off each of the four corners.
3. Place the pattern side down (the one you want to show on the finished project). Fold up the four corners into the center diagonally using the bone folder to press the folds down. StepOne
4. Fold each of the short sides into the center across the score lines. StepTwo

5. Turn the paper over. Fold up the sides on the 5″ and 7″ score lines.
6. Fold down the 1¼” flaps on each side. After you have added the bag of cookies, use a hole punch to create two holes to string ribbon through.

7. To create the card base, fold the 6″ x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock in half at 3″.
8. Place the 3″ x ½” B&T Paper horizontally along the base of the card.
9.  Using Black Memento Ink, stamp the “Tea Cup” and “Flower” images onto the 2½” x 2½” Watercolor Paper.  Shade the images using Watercolor Pencils then blend using a small round waterbrush. NOTE: I used Start Spangled Blue and Ocean to made the Peacock color, then used Holiday Red and Cranberry to make the Pomegranate color.  The center is Black.
10. Create a mask of the “Tea Cup” image, then, using Black Memento Ink, stamp the “Steam” image above the cup. NOTE: I create masks using full adhesive sticky notes.
11. Once dry, layer the 2½” square Watercolor Paper onto the center of the Glitter Paper, then adhere to the card.
12. If desired, stamp a sentiment inside the card. Place the card into one of the pockets then add a tea bag to the other.

Adore You Layout

This week, I am using the January Stamp of the Month, Adore You, to create a simple scrapbook page. This is a layout you can make featuring your Valentine, your kids, or your fur babies. I’ll be sharing project ideas each week with this set, so be sure to visit often.  At the very bottom of this post, I’ve included a list of the products I’ve used to create this layout.jansotm_layoutonedetail

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ Kraft Cardstock, 5″ x 12″ B&T Paper (I used the Diagonal Pacifica paper from Adventure Fundamentals), 5″ x 10″ B&T Paper (I used a piece from Rustic Fundamentals), 5¼” x 7¼” Matching Cardstock for photo mat (I used Pacifica), 4″ x 7″ Cardstock for Thin-Cuts (I used Chocolate), 6″ x 6″ White Daisy Cardstock (for stamped images)

Assembly Instructions:
1. Adhere the 5″ x 12″ B&T Paper to the Kraft cardstock approximately one-inch from the top of the page.
2. Turn up the lower right corner of the 5″ x 10″ B&T Paper and staple in place with the Mini Stapler. Center the 5″ x 10″ B&T Paper below the 5″ x 12″ B&T Paper and adhere to the page.
3. Adhere a 13″ piece of Ribbon below the 5″ x 12″ B&T Paper. NOTE: I used our Bonding Memories Glue Pen to adhere the ribbon to the page, then wrapped the edges around  and taped them in place.
4. Adhere the 5¼” x 7¼” photo mat to the page approximately 2″ from the top.
5. Cut out the Thin-Cut “Love” and Large Heart from the 4″ x 7″ Cardstock.
6. Using Memento Ink, stamp the Floral Heart Image onto White Daisy Cardstock. Use the Watercolor Pencils to shade the image. (I used the watercolor pencils without water for the flowers and then brushed color onto the heart with a watercolor brush and Brown Bag watercolor pencil).
7. Once the Floral Heart image is dry, cut out the image and adhere to the right of the photo mat layering it over the Large Heart Thin-Cut. If desired, tie a piece of Blue Twine onto the Thin-Cut Heart.
8. Using Pacifica Ink, stamp the Small Heart image onto White Daisy Cardstock. Cut out both images and staple them onto the layout as shown.
9. Using the 1″ Hole Punch, cut out a circle from White Daisy Cardstock. Stamp the “XO” onto the center of the circle and layer the circle onto the upper left Heart.
10. Adhere the “love” title to the top left of the photo mat overlapping slightly.
11. Using Memento Ink, stamp the Sentiment below the photo mat. (If you can tell, mine is on a separate piece of B&T because I jumped when I was stamping.)
12. Finish the layout by adding Enamel & Glitter Blue Dots. jansotm_layoutone
