SwirlySeashellsWhimsyCard.jpg

Since we have quite a few products retiring, I have decided to feature just a few of my favorites from the Annual Expressions Idea book.

  • Sea Glass Cardstock – Sea Glass was our Color of the Year and I fell in love with it. This is such a wonderful color that can be used for almost any occasion.  I have mixed it with warm and cool colors and each time it makes the perfect accent.
  • Sea Glass Glitter Paper– Who doesn’t love a little glitter? On this card I used a cut from our Flower Market Cricut® cartridge to make some “Sea Weed”.
  • Sea Glass Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad – Can you tell I just adore Sea Glass? I am excited that we have a NEW Color of the Year arriving and I can’t wait to use it.
  • Blending Pen – I must admit that I was a bit disappointed to see this tool go.  I use my Blending Pen more than I use my markers.  I love that I can use this pen with any of our ink colors to shade images and match my papers exactly.
  • Whimsy Fundamentals – If you search my blog, I used these papers quite a bit this year.  I enjoyed them so much that I used these papers throughout my sons baby album. Close to My Heart does not disappoint. I have seen the new ones and LOVE the patterns.
  • Swirly Sea Shells – This set is such an enjoyable stamp set to useSwirlySeashellsWhimsyCard_Detail for cards and on layouts with vacation, summer, and museum photos. Did you know that you can get this set FREE when you purchase two other stamp sets during our July Stampaganza?
  • Wood Slats Embossing Folder – This embossing folder leaves a nice wood grain impression on your cardstock.
  • Say it All Stamp Set – This set was in retirement and Close to My Heart brought it back for our Stampaganza event. If you missed out the first time, make sure to go to my website and purchase it before it’s gone for good.

You can continue through the blog hop and see more ideas from over twenty other Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using products from the Annual Expressions Idea book.

Now “Hop” on over to Sheila Bennett’s blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting tips and other fun ideas! Remember, many of the products in our Annual Expressions Idea book retire on July 31st!

Hello Foxy Baby Layout

The June Stamp of the Month, Hello Foxy,  has three cute little foxes and I found them to be perfect for creating a page for my son’s baby album.  I have been using our Whimsy Fundamentals papers for his album and this page will be a wonderful addition.  I designed this entire layout using  Cricut® Design Space, so, to make your lives easier, I am sharing the file with you!    Be sure to read to the bottom of this post for a link to the file.  You will need to own the Close to My Heart Cartridges I used in order to cut out the file. As always, I’ve included a list of the products I used to create this layout at the very bottom of this post.

HelloFoxySOTMBabyPage.jpg

Paper Needed: 12” x 12″ White Daisy Cardstock, 10″ x 7″ B&T Paper (I used Glacier Diagonal Stripe), 1″ x 8″ B&T Paper (I used Canary Stripe),  11¼” x ½” B&T Paper (I used Crystal Blue Hashmark), 11½” x ½” Canary Cardstock, 11¼” x ¼” Sea Glass Glitter Paper, 11¼” x ¾” B&T Paper (I used Canary Stripe), 6½” x 4½” B&T Paper (I used Crystal Blue Hashmark)

Techniques Used:

  • The background was created by spattering Light Blue Watercolor Paint onto the 12″ x 12″ White Daisy Cardstock.
  • This layout was created using Cricut® Design Space.  You can find the file here.  You must own the Artistry Cricut® Cartridge and Art Philosophy Cricut® Cartridge in order to be able to cut out the images.
  • The “Fox” image is from the Hello Foxy Acrylic stamp set. The image was stamped using Black Ink then shaded with Watercolor Pencils.

Remember, the Hello Foxy Acrylic stamp set is available until June 30th !  Contact me or visit my website to see how you can get this stamp set for only $5.00!

Laugh Together Layout

I typically stick with very simple, muted layouts.  This probably stems from the fact that I am a mother of multiple boys, but this week I decided to make a lively scrapbook page for my only daughter.   For the weekly Color My Heart Dare challenge, I  use a variety of bright colors from the Whimsy Fundamentals along with the Live, Laugh, Love stamp set.  This stamp set is available for purchase for only $5.00 with a qualifying purchase from my website.   As always, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this layout at the very bottom of this post.

LaughTogetherLayoutTWO.jpg

Paper Needed: 12″ x 12″ Cardstock (I used Juniper), 11½” x 11¾” Cardstock (I used White Daisy), 7″ x 5½” B&T Paper (I used Juniper), 7″ x 5½” B&T Paper (I used Juniper), 7″ x ¼” B&T Paper (I used Juniper), 1½” x 1½” B&T Paper (I used Canary), 4½” x 3″ B&T Paper (I used Glacier), 1¼” x 2¾” B&T Paper (I used Canary), ¼” x 3¾” B&T Paper (I used Juniper), ¼” x 3¼” B&T Paper (I used Canary), ¼” x 3″ B&T Paper (I used Glacier), 2½” Circle B&T Paper (I used Thistle), White Daisy Cardstock for Stamped Images

Slide1

Techniques Used on this Layout:

  • I have a added a layout guide to show paper placement. If you click on the this link, you can see a larger photo with measurements.  All my scrapbook guides that I sell have photos like this to show placement and measurement.
  • The “Flower” images on the bottom left corner were done using theLaughTogetherLayout_Flower.jpg Live, Laugh. Love stamp set. I used Black Memento Ink to stamp the images, then used a Blending Pen with Glacier, Thistle, Canary, and Juniper ink to shade the images.
  • The layered “Flower & Leaf” images were created using the Live, Laugh. Love stamp set. I used Black Memento Ink to stamp the flowers, then used a Blending Pen with Thistle, Canary, and Juniper ink to shade the images. I cut out the flowers and leaves, layered them on top of each other, then adhered them to the layout with Thin 3D Foam Tape.
  • The “Laugh” title was created using the Live, Laugh. Love stamp set. I brushed Purple Watercolor paint onto some Watercolor Paper, then, after it was dry, stamped the “Laugh” image  using Black Memento Ink. I shaded in the flowers with a Silver Metallic Marker, then cut out each individual letter so that I could have the staggered look to my title.LaughTogetherLayout_Title.jpg

Please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding this layout, the guide or the products used.

Live, Laugh, Love Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  We will be featuring May’s Stamp of the
Month, Live, Laugh, Love, which is designed with spring in mind. This set is full of2017MaySOTM whimsical flowers and words that can be used for multiple paper crafting projects.  If you have come here from Krista Hershberger’s blog, you are on the right path! When you are finished reading my post, you can click on the link at the end to move to the next blog.  This blog hop is designed to allow you to start here and work your way around. It’s simple, fun, and full of ideas.

If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog: http://ifyoublingit.blogspot.com/p/stamp-of-month-blog-hop-list.html.

During the month of May, I will be featuring  projects using the Live, Laugh, Love stamp set. This week, the floral “LOVE” sentiment  inspired me to create a softly shaded wedding card.  AS always, I’ve included a list of the products I used to create this card at the very bottom of this post.

LoveWeddingCard.jpg

Paper Needed: 5½” x 4¼” White Daisy Cardstock, 5½” x 4¼” B&T Paper (I used Whimsy Fundamentals),  (2) 1″ x 4¼” B&T Paper (I used Whimsy Fundamentals), (2) 2″ x 4¼” B&T Paper (I used Whimsy Fundamentals), 2″ x 2″ White Daisy Cardstock, 5½”x 5¼” Acetate (I used a cover from a discarded Cricut® mat)

Assembly Instructions:
1.  With the 5¼” side at the top, score the Acetate at 4¼”.
2.  Using a strong adhesive, adhere the (2) 1″ x 4¼” B&T paper strips horizontally along the top, to the left of the score line, onto the front and back of the acetate.
3. Using Black Memento Ink, stamp “Together” horizontally onto one of the 2″ x 4¼” B&T paper strips.
4. Using a strong adhesive, adhere the (2) 2″ x 4¼” B&T paper strips horizontally along the bottom, to the left of the score line, onto the front and back of the acetate making sure that the stamped sentiment is on the front of the card. Set aside to dry completely.
5. Using Black Memento Ink, stamp “LOVE” onto the center of the 5½” x 4¼” White Daisy Cardstock approximately 1½” from the top.  Shade in the flowers using Watercolor Pencils and a Small Round Waterbrush. I used Crystal Blue, Citrus Leaf, Sorbet, and Sunny Yellow. NOTE: I find that it works best to use the pencils more like a palette.
6.  You should have a 1″ strip of Acetate on the right side of the card. Using a strong adhesive, adhere the 5½” x 4¼” White Daisy Cardstock to the Acetate to create the inside of the card, then adhere the, 5½” x 4¼” B&T paper to create the back of the card. Once dry, close the card using a Bone Folder to burnish the fold.
7. Using Black Memento Ink, stamp the “Striped Flower” and two “Leaf” images onto the 2″ x 2″ White Daisy cardstock. Shade in the images using Watercolor Pencils and a Small Round Waterbrush. I used Citrus Leaf, Sorbet, Honey, and Sunny Yellow. Cut out the images and adhere to the card using Thin 3D Foam tape.
8.  If desired, use a Corner Rounder on each of the corners of the card.  Add three small White Dots onto the card as shown.

Easter Bunny Treat Bag

I love giving out little treats at Easter, and this bag was simple and fun to create using the Close to My Heart Easter Bunny stamp set.  You can alter this bag and make it your own creation by simply changing the colors, the stamps used, or by adding a name to the front flap.  I will be posting ideas for Easter treats all week so be sure to visit often. At the very bottom of this post, I’ve included a list of the products I have used to create this project.

EasterBags

Assembly Instructions:
1. Cut a piece of cardstock to 8½” x 11″  (I used Glacier for the bag).
2. Score the cardstock on the long side at 1″, 4″, 6″ and 9″.
3. Score the shorter side at 2″ and 7″.
4. Fold up on each of the score marks, using a bone folder to burnish each of the folds.
5. Cut the cardstock in the places indicated in the picture below. NOTE: I cut my bottom flaps at a slight angle so that they fold neatly when creating the bag.
EasterBag_Score&Cut.jpg
6. If desired, use a corner rounder on the corners of the top flap.
7. Create the bag by adhering the 1″ flap to the inside of the bag using a strong adhesive, then fold the bottom flaps in and adhere them together.  For a neater look, make sure the bottom front flap is adhered very last.
8. Slightly pinch the sides of the bag so that the top edges of the opening meet together, then fold the top flap down over the front of the bag and seal using a hook & loop dot.
EasterBag_SideFold.jpg
9. Cut a piece of cardstock at 1¼” x 3″ to create the decorative strip for the top flap. (I used Canary cardstock.)  If desired, use a corner rounder on the bottom two corners, then stamp your desired sentiment.
10. Attach the cardstock strip to the top flap, then wrap twine around the flap and tie in a decorative knot or bow.
EasterBag_TopFlap
11. Using the Easter Bunny stamp set, stamp the desired images onto White Daisy cardstock, then shade the images using ShinHan markers. Cut out the images and adhere them to the front of the bag using Foam Tape.
EasterBag_BunnyImage.jpg

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS: On the Thistle bag, I used the Flock Together stamp set to create the heart background with Pansy ink.  I cut out a 2¼” scallop circle from Pansy cardstock, then a 2″ circle from White Daisy cardstock to create the tag on the front of the box.  Both of these shapes came from the Art Philosophy Cricut® cartridge.  The sentiment was created using the writing feature in Cricut® Design Space.
